In this video we explain the background to the Chris Matthews apology to Hillary Clinton, show the actual apology and then explain why it has much larger ramifications:
Maybe we helped to push him toward this apology with our commentary on AOL Newsbloggers as well (you can see and read our analysis of all of his negative comments toward Hillary Clinton here). I doubt it, but hey, we tried. And he wound up doing the right thing.

1. Matthews' (still) unrelenting hard-on hatred of the Clintons has one primary explanation: His massive ego wants to think he influences people and elections. His NBC bosses are interested in his attack blabber because some data must support his attraction to a big audience and thus lucrative ads. The guests that he shouts down so rudely come on his show nonetheless because they crave getting their faces--if not their voices--on bigtime TV.
The high point of the media's interference with the election process and thus democracy has come so far during election day in New Hampshire, when most of the commentators followed a gloating, big-mouthed Matthews in saying a few thousand times that Hillary Clinton was being beaten....WHILE THE POLLS WERE STILL OPEN!!! They may have thought they convinced voters to stay home--that the press had settled it--but instead they mobilized the Hillary voters who rushed to the still-open polls.
Young journalist students will be studying the wretched media behavior in this election for decades, and Matthews will figure so prominently that he should engender a new verb representing the behavior of highly irresponsible political "reporting": something like MATHEWSIZING to try and torpedo particular candidates.

Your show and Air America rating are show low, soon they will not even show what they are..
So with the total audience that may hear you bellowing, they will not even influence the hamburger maker at Burger king to make an apology to Clinton, much less any influence on Chris Matthews.

Hey Robert, who do YOU influence? If I do a Google search for Uygur's name, I get over 17,000 hits. A search for your name gives a couple of links to this blog, and that's it. You're an impotent little twit who wants to start a fight with someone who is actually successful in the field because it makes you feel better about being a failure.

7. OKANE you ARE the guy who makes the burgers at Burger King.

8. Did anyone notice his eye rolling and sighing at the end of his statement? i didn't hear an apology anywhere in his statement, i only heard excuses...and the eyerolling at the end pretty much told me how he really feels. he's an idiot.

Hey, guess what ?
I just Google the name EARTH and got
24,500,000 hits (minimum).
So according to little Miss "T"'s logic the EARTH must be the center of the universe. Way to go Miss "T" . Doesn't your brother own a van, have a Mohawk, and hang around with two dudes named Hannibal and Murdock?

11. #9 - M2D5 - I try to stay above the infighting (Linda - Sorry again for the rude comment I did make), but that was pretty stupid. A better approach might have been...
Tatiana - Your logic is flawed. How do you know that ROBERT OKANE is this commenter's real name. If it is not, then the search is meaningless as is your criticism.

12. Matthews just wants a big handsome man as President. Remember during Gore's resignation speech when Chris went on and on about Gores "exquisite masculinity"?
Not that there's anything wrong with wanting "Dreamboat" Obama or "HunkaHunka" Romney as your candidate, but you don't have to bash Hillary to get there (even if every word he said is true).
She IS only there because she married the right man. You can like her all you want, but it's the truth. Her personality and ideas would have never gotten her any farther than running for a local city counsel in a Chicago suburb had she not married the charismatic Bill Clinton. That's why she did it, despite knowing he was a womanizer and a cad. You can't really blame her, many other women did the same thing, Elizabeth Dole, Mary Bono both come to mind, neither would have been successful in politics without their husband, well maybe Dole...it was not a woman's world in their day and marrying a successful man was probably the only way they could avoid the glass ceiling.
Matthews clearly despises her and he should just stop being a wimp and admit it, and at the same time admit that he is not a very nice person either.

Alan,
I thought that by using her own twisted logic and some sarcasm the mesage would be gotten. Since I have read her other posts before on other blogs.
Sometimes a cold cup of water in the face will get someone's attention faster then some carefully chosen words. After all, if one is going to post stuff out there , they should be prepared for responses. Not ones that are vulgar or obscene mind you or even name calling. If the individual requires preferential consideration then let them say so.

14. I luvvvv this - Matthews is adored by so many as their tenacious and feisty bulldog but here he is issuing a groveling apology for exercising free speech. Matthews owes a lot of people apologies so why should he make nice to Hillary when all he did was speak his mind? Oh, and now that so many here are on the apology bandwagon, doesn't Matthews need to apologize to President Bush too? I mean, fair is fair right?

15. Chris Matthews long winded "apology" just shows how much this guy loves to hear himself talk. Matthews has an ego the size of the Grand Canyon. I don't know everything he said about Clinton, nor do I really care.
I can't stand the guy because he is loud and self-centered and consistently cuts off his guests when they are speaking. Matthews show is obviously all about him.
