The quote below by Huckabee is so insane, I still can't quite believe it. If he really means what he says, he wants the turn the US into a Christian Taliban state, where we would be ruled by what Mike Huckabee believes is "God's standards." And how would Huckabee know what God wants?
Here is the unbelievable quote from Huckabee:
Please tell me Republicans aren't seriously considering nominating this guy. But this is only one of four crazy stories coming out of the Huckabee camp today. First, you can read about how he wants to change the constitution here. Then, read how he signed a document saying women should "submit" to their husbands. Then, read about how one of his senior advisers thinks we should post a cop in front of every mosque (imagine if he said that about synagogues) and that genocide against Sunnis in Iraq would be acceptable.
Then read about how he wants to stop all immigration from any country that sponsors or harbors terrorists. That would mean we would end immigration from "allies" like Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Pakistan. It might even mean we end immigration from Germany where some of the 9/11 bombers lived and that recently released a defendant involved in the 9/11 plot (because we wouldn't cooperate and give them evidence we collected from our detainees, probably because we tortured them). In fact, you know the country where all of the 9/11 bombers lived right before they committed their heinous act of terror? The United States.
The man has to think before he talks. His own camp had to back away from his last statement about ending immigration from all these countries. But the bigger problem seems to be that he has thought some of these things through and these crazy statements are his true opinions. Now, that's really scary.

4. Boy it's just doesn't take much at all to get all your feathers up. Someone makes a comment and this idiot (Uygur) get's all you guys at one another's throat in a heart beat. How ridiculous and you think that the Christians are out to get you. Last I checked no one had put Huck in office as of yet. And yes Richelle, sex outside of marriage is fornication, just ask you so called Baptist boyfriend. I think he needs a refresher course in relationships via GOD 101. If he is a believer then he knows he is sinning. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to know right from wrong!!!!! It does take a little common sense which your generation keeps refusing to use. When, it finally comes back around to bite you in the rear then it is everyone
else's fault. The old adage of yesterday is still as true today as back then. Why buy the cow when the milk is free. I would think you would want more respect for yourself and your future. As, I have said in the past as well as now that no one man is going to fix the problems of this country. Regardless, if he is Christian, Muslim, or Atheists. There are going to be problems, and yes GOD is the reason that this nation was born. It was not and is not GOD's responibility to make sure mankind uses Christianity for the good. Man makes out of life here on this earth what he chooses to. Now, everyone just settle down and look for the candidate that will be a great leader both here at home and more importantly the world over. Rita

rita,
you are incredibly arrogant. you do NOT know the absolute standard of what is right or wrong. are you insinuating that you are a better christian than my boyfriend? if you are then maybe you need to get a refresher course in christian humility 101.
i did not say that sex outside of marriage is not fornication, i was asking WHY god would think that fornication is a sin. what are the reasons?
and withholding sex so someone will marry you is hardly a reason to abstain. if you think that my boyfriend and i will not get married because we are already having sex then you are even more dense then i had originally thought.
i have plenty of respect for myself, thank you very much. it's not like i post naked pictures of myself all over the internet or work at a strip club or have sex with any guy that comes along.
and even if i was doing those things it would NOT be your place to tell me how much of a sinner i am. that would be for your god to do.
take some of your own advise. also, make sure you comprehend what you are reading before you respond.

MIND YER OWN FORNIGODDAMCATING BIZNESS!!!!
...sweetie.
Rachelle is too compassionate to order you to shut your collective mouths because she understands it would condemn many of you to a future of celibacy.
Or for some of you, it might deprive you of the opportunity to know your larger mammalian pets in a unique and loving way while earning quarter dollars from inebriated seagoing american patriots with camera options on their cell phones.
Call me a neocon but I don't stand in the way of free or quarter dollar enterprise.

8. Um...you do realize that he said most of those things like 15 or 20 years ago? Like the 'quarantine AIDs patients thing;' at the time he said that, people were not actually entirely certain how AIDs was spread. Likewise, I don't know when he said this particular quote, but I can bet it's being taken out of context and blown out of proportion. He was almost certainly speaking exclusively to the issue of gay marriage, in which case he is far from the only candidate to have echoed those sentiments.

9. Shame on all those that use my name and do not act as I did. Shame also on those that use my name and post to this blog in anger or hatred directed at that which they do not take the trouble to comprehend. Atheists, you are my children too, and I love you and apologize for my errant children who misapprehend the concept of faith. They have been misled by men, and not by me. You have every right to come here and defend yourselves against attack by the satanic forces that manipulate them, that they allow to manipulate them in their pride. I forgive you for not believing in me, because my Father has given you no compelling evidence of the truth of his or my existence, and created you as creatures of the mind which require such, for a reason. You are not supposed to believe in me; this is not your path. It is your path to lead humanity out of darkness, and in the fullness of time this path will also lead to me.
Go forth and love each other. Is it really that hard?

who gives a flying fuck if it was exclusively in regard to the issue of gay marriage! there is a good reason to leave the supposed "word of god" out of the constitution.
here is the quote:
"I have opponents in this race who do not want to change the Constitution," Huckabee told a Michigan audience on Monday. "But I believe it's a lot easier to change the Constitution than it would be to change the word of the living god. And that's what we need to do -- to amend the Constitution so it's in God's standards rather than try to change God's standards so it lines up with some contemporary view."
he made this comment EARLIER THIS MONTH!!! NOT twenty years ago (notice the reference to this race, as in the presidential race)
and the document he signed about women submitting to their husbands he signed in 1998. i've already covered that one thoroughly so i'm not going to go over it any more.
huckabee also supports covenant marriages which can be incredibly dangerous to women in abusive marriages
Richelle at 10:44AM on Jan 24th 2008
13. First and formost let me say I amm 100% against changing the constitution.
The true fact is if it was changed nobody would walk under it.
You don't need to change the constitution to stop abortion anyway, if that is his goal.
The bible clearly dictates the laws of God and mankind can't walk in them.
Why does this idiot think man will walk under them if it outlined in the constitution?
We need a government that will remain netural in the religious affairs of mankind, and also give no merit to the atheist view point as well.

14. I think Christians know that turning America into Cenk's nightmare vision of a Christian theocracy wouldn't be popular, but it is still scary that this kind of talk resonates with a certain percentage of the electorate.
I'm an optimist, however, and I think most Christians enjoy the benefits of a secular nation too much to tolerate a true theocracy. Huckabee doesn't stand a chance.
AndrewV at 10:14AM on Jan 17th 2008
15. No Cenk, it's much better that Huckabee does not think before he talks.
If he were more careful, we would not see the wolf in sheeps clothing.
