The quote below by Huckabee is so insane, I still can't quite believe it. If he really means what he says, he wants the turn the US into a Christian Taliban state, where we would be ruled by what Mike Huckabee believes is "God's standards." And how would Huckabee know what God wants?
Here is the unbelievable quote from Huckabee:
Please tell me Republicans aren't seriously considering nominating this guy. But this is only one of four crazy stories coming out of the Huckabee camp today. First, you can read about how he wants to change the constitution here. Then, read how he signed a document saying women should "submit" to their husbands. Then, read about how one of his senior advisers thinks we should post a cop in front of every mosque (imagine if he said that about synagogues) and that genocide against Sunnis in Iraq would be acceptable.
Then read about how he wants to stop all immigration from any country that sponsors or harbors terrorists. That would mean we would end immigration from "allies" like Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Pakistan. It might even mean we end immigration from Germany where some of the 9/11 bombers lived and that recently released a defendant involved in the 9/11 plot (because we wouldn't cooperate and give them evidence we collected from our detainees, probably because we tortured them). In fact, you know the country where all of the 9/11 bombers lived right before they committed their heinous act of terror? The United States.
The man has to think before he talks. His own camp had to back away from his last statement about ending immigration from all these countries. But the bigger problem seems to be that he has thought some of these things through and these crazy statements are his true opinions. Now, that's really scary.

19. Dave M, if you knew him "vaguely", then how do you know he never got laid? Did he tell the whole Federalist Society club that he couldn't score? Besides, I judge him based on whether or not his conclusions logically follow from his arguments, not on whether or not he was a pussy magnet in college.

20. I would say you wouldn't vaguely know him if you know he never got laid in college buddy.

21. dave m - Do you have to type your comments or do you just cut and paste from the last time. Try to be original for once. And learn to use the shift and caps lock key.
Cenk - I will make one small, but important correction, the quote on stopping immigration should read,
"I say we ought to put a hiatus on people who come in here ... if they come from countries that sponsor and harbor terrorists." [or becomes and]. This takes Germany off your list, leaving the countries whose (replace with your favorite slur) we don't care about or want polluting our precious bodily fluids in any case [:>) sarcasm added]

22. Yesterday Huckapoo said on national television (Morning Joe with Joe Scarborough and Mika Brezinski, MSNBC) that when he was a student he used to roast SQUIRREL in an old corn-popper. He said it was the only think they had to cook it in.
He should star in his own show, called "That Darn Christian!"

24. Perhaps you are wanting to stir up controversary the way you have written your political opinion about Huckabee and you have done quite well. After reading several of the opinions I was quite taken by the congnitive intelligent way SOME, not all have expressed themselves and wonder why they have not stepped up and considered running for office in their hometowns.
Oh, and speaking of God, we continue to ask him to leave, and sadly speaking the only time we are calling on him now is in the midst of our own crisis which after reading MOST of these comments, is now.

26. For any of you out there who truly believe in the fallacy of the separation of church and state, I challenge you to go read some of the papers of John Jay, the first Chief Justice of the US or any of the other some 15,000 papers left behind by those we consider our founding fathers. Wherein, by the way, the Bible is quoted four times more than any other source. I am not for a legislated Christian theocracy but the notion that this country is a "melting pot" is not what gave those men the fortitude to create what they created. Furthermore, the notion that this country was not founded as a Christian society is BULLS**T!!!. If you have documentation otherwise, I will gladly read it. But, for those of you who have no idea what a library is and do not know for yourselves what those great men had to say but trust media outlets to inform you, I say you crawl in a whole and leave the thinking to those of us capable. Mike Huckabee is not saying anything that all the papers mentioned above haven't said already. Respond with your bashing all you want but without quotes and information you are still a ignorant waste of flesh.

29. I agree that this quote from Huckabee is appalling and would lead to a theocracy. I would like to know *when* and *where* this statement was made, just for purposes of confirmation.
Laurie at 1:37PM on Jan 17th 2008
30. Wow. I just looked it up, and Huckabee made this statement about amending the Constitution to meet God's standards on 1/15/2008 in Michigan. He means it! This is not some early thought that he has repudiated, now that he has had time to reflect. This is the man's current position! The US does not need a theocracy! Our Founders were right to insist on the Bill of Rights to protect individual freedoms. (Confirmation of quote found at URL below:
