The quote below by Huckabee is so insane, I still can't quite believe it. If he really means what he says, he wants the turn the US into a Christian Taliban state, where we would be ruled by what Mike Huckabee believes is "God's standards." And how would Huckabee know what God wants?
Here is the unbelievable quote from Huckabee:
Please tell me Republicans aren't seriously considering nominating this guy. But this is only one of four crazy stories coming out of the Huckabee camp today. First, you can read about how he wants to change the constitution here. Then, read how he signed a document saying women should "submit" to their husbands. Then, read about how one of his senior advisers thinks we should post a cop in front of every mosque (imagine if he said that about synagogues) and that genocide against Sunnis in Iraq would be acceptable.
Then read about how he wants to stop all immigration from any country that sponsors or harbors terrorists. That would mean we would end immigration from "allies" like Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Pakistan. It might even mean we end immigration from Germany where some of the 9/11 bombers lived and that recently released a defendant involved in the 9/11 plot (because we wouldn't cooperate and give them evidence we collected from our detainees, probably because we tortured them). In fact, you know the country where all of the 9/11 bombers lived right before they committed their heinous act of terror? The United States.
The man has to think before he talks. His own camp had to back away from his last statement about ending immigration from all these countries. But the bigger problem seems to be that he has thought some of these things through and these crazy statements are his true opinions. Now, that's really scary.

92. And speaking of you playing with your holes there...
I love watching MSNBC Predator series with Chris Hanson. It happens very often that a caught pedophile says "I'm a christian... I go to church!" as some sort of excuse for the fact that they are caught red-handed trying to diddle a child!
When I hear it, I say to myself "I know you're a christian, that't why you were fucked up enough to think this was a good idea!"

While I admire jj's passion and confidence, I see he is lacking in the logic department.
I guess you need that kind of confidence to report something as real that cannot nor ever has been proven to be true.

94. Here's another thing about the christian psychosis. Since they divide all reality into the dualistic extremes of good and evil, they need an enemy to hate or they can't feel like they're "doing their part in the good fight." This is best captured I think by the popular phrase "Onward christian soldier." Thou shalt not kill, so how can any christian be a soldier? Well, it's all the hate, you see. They feel best united against a common enemy. Primitive tribal level bonding.
If they don't have oan enemy, they're forced to make one up.
Thus, their very happiness and feelings of self-respect are hinged to how well they can "hate" evil. What they see as evil, that is.
Hating anything is evil. Even hating evil, is evil. That's the catch they don't get.
Love is the answer. Who knew?
And I do love even you christians. But it's a tough love...

95. then he reads a document saying women should submit to their husbands.(TYT)
And that husbands should love their wives even as christ loved the church and gave himself as a sacrifice for it.
That is in the Bible.
HMM..wonder why no one notices part two of the document.

96. "HMM..wonder why no one notices part two of the document."
You mean the New Testament? I noticed. Here are a few things I noticed in the NT.
1 Timothy 6:1 "All who are under the yoke of slavery should consider their masters worthy of full respect, so that God's name and our teaching may not be slandered."
Matthew 10:24 "A student is not greater than the teacher. A slave is not greater than the master."
1 Peter 2:18 "Slaves, submit yourselves to your masters with all respect, not only to those who are good and considerate, but also to those who are harsh."
Colossians 3:22 "Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything; and do it, not only when their eye is on you and to win their favor, but with sincerity of heart and reverence for the Lord."

You'd just LOVE to ignore that pesky part one, wouldn't you? Well, as noted by tatiana, part two is just as repulsive as part one.
And plus, if you invalidate part one, where does that leave your creation myth?

Congratulations you have just proved the Bible teaches that there were slaves in that time period.
And your point is?

Hi.Loved your earlier comment about democracy/separation of Church and state.
Here is part 2 of your part 2
And ye masters do the same thing unto them, forebearing threatening:knowing that your master also is in heaven;neither is there respect of persons with him.(EPHESIANS 6 VERSE 9)
HMM...masters treat your slaves as your master Jesus treats u,with selfless love and NO THREATENING?
How unlike slavery in the Americas, which was also practiced by some of your deist friends back then.(as well as some christians who commited the sin of manipulating scripture 2 get what they want).
aniekan thomas at 4:24AM on Jan 19th 2008
103. Huckabee's statements are disturbing, only because he is a presidential candidate. If the spotlight wasn't shining on him there would be no dicussion. Is the Republican Party so bankrupt of talent that this fundamentalist wacko is being considered as presidential material? What next, David Dukes as his running mate?

104.
"Congratulations you have just proved the Bible teaches that there were slaves in that time period.
And your point is?"
My POINT is that the NT is not as benign as often suggested, as done by aniekan thomas, who said:
"HMM..wonder why no one notices part two of the document."
"Part two" has not only mentions "that there were slaves in that time period." It condones slavery, along with a long list of immoral acts, such as killing disobedient children. A continued inability to grasp the point is your own fault.
Tatiana at 8:26AM on Jan 19th 2008
105. "How unlike slavery in the Americas, which was also practiced by some of your deist friends back then."
You can't use a command for slaves to treat their MASTERS well to justify the slavery in the Bible. You can't use ANY other example of immoral behavior to condone the justification of OTHER immoral behavior. The Bible condones slavery, and that in itself is unacceptable.
