Ten minutes worth of footage from MSNBC's State of the Union footage. Barack Obama shares his opinions about the Bush Administration, talks about his ideas and also touches on the Kennedy endorsement. For the Fox News fans of the blog (bless your lost soul,) Barack spoke to them too (although Chuck Norris might interest you more.)
2. Illinois politics have always been a bit suspicious. The current AOL piece on Rezko and his connections to an Iraqi billionaire under investigation, seems like something to be used by Obama's critics. The article clearly states that Obama is guilty of nothing with regards to the Rezko case. I would like to know about the law firm Obama worked for.
3. Obama is polished and, no doub about it, he's got the momentum that Hillary seems to be losing.
He is right about the SOTU address, but a little too circumspect. What I heard was Bush saying, "Here are a bunch of problems facing you guys. They aren't my fault. I sure hope you guys come up with some solutions."
Good news. Only one more year of Bush and Cheney.
Bad news. Still one more year of Bush and Cheney.
And it was fun watching Chuck Norris chew on Sean Hannity. Every now and then Fux Noise is worth two minutes.
4. It looks like the Democrats have discovered "The Winning Slogan" and they are letting Obama deliver the message. That must be some political pundit who found the message in 5 little letters? He must be getting paid "Big Bucks" for this? The person who thought of this could be the "Father of a Political Movement?" I wonder who suggested this? I wonder if they will get credit?
5. Bush still comes off as the aging frat boy who thought "Browny did a heckuva job". By comparison, Obama comes off as the guy who actually studied in college but is still worried about the final exams.
6. The think that struck me most about Bush last night was just how obvious it had become that he simply did not belong there. He never belonged there. He should have had a very nice life as a millionaire baseball team owner. He should have never been Governor of Texas, much less President.
Look closely at Barak Obama and you will see the same quality. He should not be President. He has no business even running.
Would one of you...a single one of you Obama supporters be behind him if his skin where light? You honestly know in your heart you would tell him to go back to the Senate for 4-8 years and then come back. He could have been VP to Clinton for some real resume building, but No, that's not good enough. He has alienated her now and if (probably when) she receives the nomination or becomes president he will feel her wrath and it will not be pretty. He could very easily fade into obilivion.
Are you sure there are no drugs past high school? Are you positive there was no limo party with another man in 99? Are you sure there are no sweet deals with crooks in Illinois? How can you be so sure? The man has told you nothing.
Barak and Dubya are just alike, pretending to be something they are not. George W. got to play the rancher who is called into public service. Nevermind he was never really a rancher.
Obama gets to play the black man who reaches the ultimate goal. Nevermind he has never lived the black experience.
I'm sorry to find fault in your Knight and if that makes me a FOX news pawn or a "hater" so be it. I get the same crap when I say the same thing about Romney.
We need to wake up. The presidency is not an affirmative action job, nor is it an on the job training job.
8. Whatever you think about the Kennedys, in listening to the speecht that Ted gave he brought up an interesting note. When JFK was running for office he was criticized by the former popular democratic president Harry Truman for being too inexperienced for the job.
I'm not trying to say that Barack Obama is exactly like JFK, but it's an interesting similarity seeing as the same thing can be seen in the present. I'd also assume that being in the senate for 6 years may also give you more experience in national matters than being governor of Texas.
9. Kennedy was indeed too inexperienced and who knows what would have happened had he not been killed. He damn near got us all blown up in the short time he was there. Everybody just assumes we would be living in rainbow unicorn land had Kennedy lived.
Barak Obama was elected to the US Senate in 2004. It's not fair to combine his time in the state senate of Illinois. It's just not the same thing.
Personally I don't feel that being a Governor of any state is automatic qualification for President either. You think we would have learned our lesson with that one after Carter, Clinton and Bush...but now we even have a former Governor running.
Geez next thing you know we will have friggin state senators running for President.
What's after that, city counsel, school board, PTA?
10. I listened to Obama's comments and that what they are comments. We need action so that our local economies are succeeding. Thomas C Kern for Internal Energy Plus™
11. Davidg, you're working on a whole lot of presuppositions.
I don't entirely disagree about Obama's inexperience, but this nonsense about "drugs after high school" and "limousine parties" just sounds like FReeper stuff.
Inexperience? As compared to "experienced" people like Mitt Romney? As compared to "experienced" people like Mike Huckabee? Experienced like Rudy Julie-Annie?
I'm an Edwards supporter, but when he inevitably drops his bid, I'll have no choice but to switch to supporting Obama. I'm not terribly comfortable with it, but he's better than anybody the republicans have to offer.
And I'm not just saying that because I promised I'd chop an arm off before I ever voted for a republican.
12. NAME ONE LIVING KENNEDY WHOM YOU HAVE ANY RESPECT FOR. I CAN'T THINK OF ANY. AN ENDORSEMENT FROM TED KENNEDY IS LIKE BEING DIAGNOSED WITH GENITAL HERPES. AN ENDORSEMENT FROM CAROLINE KENNEDY IS JUST ODD.
13. We need to wake up. The presidency is not an affirmative action job, nor is it an on the job training job.

I've heard plenty of people tell me they have 'ten years' experience' and for many of them, it's one year ten times.
The affirmative action crack says what needs to be known about the content and probably intent of the poster.
You're messing with something different this time - a charismatic leader, a person who can and does inspire despite his color and despite his age.
This is the kind of charisma associated with the likes of Elvis and the Beatles and Muhammed Ali. It's not something politics is used to.
I will predict the typical array of atwater-rovian attacks, and I'm guessing they will all blow up in the perpetrator's face.
You're not dealing with anything you're used to this time.
I remember Kennedy very well, my father was state democratic chairman for his election, and this guy has way more than Kennedy does and he got it from nowhere in a new york minute. If he's the candidate, and that's no sure thing, it will be fun to watch the assaults and self immolations.
14. As a Harvard Law School graduate, Obama distinguished himself by his peer election to the presidency of the Harvard Law Review--a great honor at that institution. He is a "breath of fresh air" to truly stagnant Washington politics at present. He will have opportunities to surround himself with fine advisors should he become President, and should enjoy support from round the globe. He will renew friendships worldwide for our country.

Funny, since Harry Truman was the one of the people who helped make it possible for JFK to rise from being just a lowly congressman to senator and eventually president.

As the past 8 years have clearly, painfully, irrevocably demonstrated.
