46. Same old Christian defense. He she or it wasn't a "real Christian."
Check the prisons. They're full of Christians.
My (partial) list of Christian sins agains the United States of America and its Constitution.
The Catholic Church should not be actively intervening in American politics on the side of the republicans. Neither should the protestant fundamentalists.
Christians try to claim that a clump of cells possess the same rights that you and I do, even though they can't survive outside a petrie dish.
Christians believe that doctors who perform abortions and women who have abortions should be arrested and charged with murder.
Christians support murdering doctors, harrassing women and blowing up clinics in the name of preserving some vaguely defined, "right to life."
Christians believe that school districts should be forced to teach children superstitious hogwash.
Christians believe that it is okay to be "stealth" candidates to get themselves elected school boards and local political offices then impose their agendas on the taxpayers.
Christians advocate "skirting" the law by attempting to teach the Bible as, "history."
Christians believe that sex education is wrong and that birth control creates a, "culture of death."
Christians believe that this is a, "Christian nation," and that anyone who doesn't follow their faery tale mythology is a second class citizen, at best.

48. Ya gotta love those pro-abortion bumper stickers: "My mom decided to allow me to be born because she wanted me." Or, something like that. Just gives you warm fuzzies, doesn't it? (Yeah, they were going to kill me like my unborn sister, but they wanted another boy.) Great.

49. I agree with emma. I am anti-abortion and pro-choice.
We should teach our children (and those adults who need it) about sex and the responsibilities that come with it. Abortion is a dangerous (compared to other birth control methods) last resort with the highest risk of side effects of any birth control method. In addition, people (women and men) who cannot afford birth control should have access to it along the same channels that people who cannot afford health care have access. Telling them not to have sex does not work.

50. Christians are evil, cause they still have free will to follow God or the devil, even after they have chosen the Way.
Cap'n Negative, some of the Christians in jail became Christians after they got incacerated. And while i do not support abortion,I'm more likely to pray for the abortionist than execute him(which is in itself a sin)
And i think sex ed is important.Abstienence too works as well.It is hard(i know from my experience)but it can be borne.
Do not paint all Christians with the same brushstrokes.

51. Oops.Correction.
Christians become evil when they chose to follow Evil insteaad of God.

52. 'Do not paint all Christians with the same brushstrokes."
------------------------------------
I thought I had made it clear that I was talking about the Roman Catholic Church and protestant fundamentalists, but your point is well taken.
My contention is that "reasonable" Christians should deal with the Christian fascists if they do not want to be tarred with the same brush.
Abstinence education has not worked. In fact it has been detrimental. Abstinence education has led to a sharp increase in anal sex and oral sex. Evidence of its failure is the dramatic increase of sexually transmitted diseases of the throats of Hispanic teenage girls. Abstinence education has led to young Christians redefining, "sexual intercourse" to mean only vaginal sex.
Marching backwards never gets society anywhere.

54. Marc - in regards to your post against being 'pro-choice' let me comment on your points...
1- an abortion so as to 'not ruin the figure'. As pathetic as that is, to me it's better than letting someone that selfish and dumb raise a kid.
2- Life is not sacred. Just ask the Iraqis.
3- Financial burden. If more people thought this way, welfare wouldn't be so out of control. Means lower taxes for the rest of us.
4- Yes, the world is overpopulated... thats why people are starving in many areas. We are using up the Earths resources faster than they are being renewed. Guess what the end result is?
5- 'what if' - never known that to be used as the reason. Most people do the testing to find out first.
6- Rape, incest, etc... After a fire, do you live in the charred remains of your house? after you're robbed do you spend the next nine months without a car, wallet, whatever waiting for it to come back?
8- there are times when the mother's life is in danger, we know this. It's like standing on a train track.. you don't have to wait for the train to hit you to know you'll be dead if you don't move. Look up HELLP syndrome.
9- Having to drop out of school, etc... simply ruins two lives. The parent who will never get ahead and the child who will never learn how. Welfare, poverty, lack of education are vicious circles. Best not to join one in the first place.
10- So married people who aren't ready to start a family should be abstinent? That would nullify their marriage in many religions. And sterilization isn't a realistic option in that case either. Sex is a natural part of a healthy relationship. Deny it and you are just asking for problems.
11- Did you know that some areas that were shown how to use condoms thought they really were supposed to put the condom on a banana to prevent pregnancy? Just says we need more education.
12- Fact is, making abortion illegal simply makes it harder for poor people to get one. Rich people will have private doctors, access to other countries etc... And guess which group makes the laws??
I don't like abortion. I would love to have every child conceived in love, perfectly healthy, who is desired and wanted and will be taken care. But we don't live in Perfect, and Walgreens being open 24hrs doesn't help.
Also - adoption isn't the answer either. If it were, there wouldn't be so many kids in the foster system.

55. "The Eternal Father sends each life with reason. The spirit of life is breathed into that body at the moment of conception. At the moment of conception the soul is united to the body. Though it grows from a small seed, it is living and must not be destroyed! It is murder My children, to destroy the seed. All who commit this terrible act of murder, My children, cannot enter into the Kingdom of Heaven unless they repent of this foul crime. They must in their repentance accept a penance upon earth for their acts that bring great sorrow to the Heart of the Eternal Father." - Our Lady, December 27, 1975

56. "The fruit of abortion is nuclear war. What you do to the unborn child, you do to Jesus." - Mother Teresa of Calcutta
“Therefore, by the authority which Christ conferred upon Peter and his Successors, in communion with the bishops—who on various occasions have condemned abortion and who in the aforementioned consultation, albeit dispersed throughout the world, have shown unanimous agreement concerning this doctrine declare that direct abortion, that is, abortion willed as an end or as a means, always constitutes a grave moral disorder, since it is the deliberate killing of an innocent human life.” - Evangelium Vitae (The Gospel of Life), Pope John Paul II, March 25, 1995, #62.

57. "The Eternal Father is much distressed by mankind's actions. They must not try to control the start and expiration of a life. Abortion is murder, My children, for you bring to an untimely end a mission of a soul. The Eternal Father breathes the spirit of life into the body at the moment of conception. No man shall destroy this body until it has completed its mission as directed by the Eternal Father, for any man who destroys the mission and the body is guilty of murder. Euthanasia, untimely death, My children, man has transgressed into a form of evil far worse than in the time of Noah or Sodom. Therefore, how great shall be the punishment to mankind!" - Our Lady, June 12, 1976
"Your city and many cities and countries throughout the world will suffer for the murders of the Holy Innocents. Life, the spirit of life, is breathed--the soul placed by the Eternal Father into the body of the unborn at the precise, exact moment of conception. Do not fall prey to the fallacy there is no life until the child emerges from the womb. No! I say to you: life begins at the moment of conception. The Eternal Father breathes the spirit of life at the moment of conception. No man shall take this life, for as such he is guilty and found guilty by the Eternal Father of murder!” - Our Lady, September 6, 1975

60. The Bible clearly teaches that abortion is wrong. This teaching comes across in many ways and for many reasons. Some people point out that the word "abortion" is not in the Bible, and that is true. Nevertheless, the teaching about abortion is there. This is the case with many teachings. The word "Trinity" is not in the Bible, but the teaching about the Trinity is there. In any case, a person who wants to deny the teaching about abortion would deny it even if the word were there.
Let’s look at some of the Biblical reasons why abortion, the deliberate destruction of a child in the womb, is very wrong.
1. The Bible teaches that human life is different from other types of life, because human beings are made in the very image of God.
The accounts of the creation of man and woman in Genesis (Genesis 1:26-31; 2:4-25) tell us this: "God created man in his image; in the divine image he created him; male and female he created them" (Genesis 1:27).
The word "create" is used three times here, emphasizing a special crowning moment in the whole process of God’s making the world and everything in it. The man and woman are given "dominion" over everything else in the visible world.
Not even the original sin takes away the image of God in human beings. St. James refers to this image and says that because of it we should not even speak ill of one another. "With [the tongue] we bless the Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings who are made in the image of God . . . This ought not be so, brothers" (James 3:9-10).
The image of God! This is what it means to be human! We are not just a bunch of cells randomly thrown together by some impersonal forces. Rather, we really reflect an eternal God who knew us from before we were made, and purposely called us into being.
At the heart of the abortion tragedy is the question raised in the Psalms: "Lord, what is man that you care for him, mortal man that you keep him in mind? . . . With glory and honor you crowned him, giving him power over the works of your hands" (Psalm 8:5-7).
There is the key. Not only did God make us, but He values us. The Bible tells us of a God who is madly in love with us, so much so that He became one of us and even died for us while we were still offending Him (see Romans 5:6-8). In the face of all this, can we say that human beings are disposable, like a car that becomes more trouble than it is worth? "God doesn’t make junk." If you believe the Bible, you have to believe that human life is sacred, more sacred than we have ever imagined!
