When we asked for monikers to replace MSNBC's labeling of tomorrow's big election day as "Tsunami Tuesday," we had no idea we'd get so many great entries. So instead of five finalists, we've chosen seven. Vote now! The winner receives a limited edition Mamma Mia! tatami mat.

34. Cindy McCain is a beauty. What statement is Cindy making with her purple?
I wear purple everyday. It represents to me the government, the military, the Purple Heart. The Blood that was shed in the battlefield.
Support our troops! Support John McCain. One of the main functions of the Presidency is to be the Commander-In-Chief. John is the only candidate and more then ready for that task.
John has his rough spots but that is okay it shows that he is alive and kicking.
I like spice. Yes, he has his moments but don't we all.
John has his detractors and in at least two cases it is to his benefit.
What is hate?
Hate speech is a term for speech intended to degrade, intimidate, or incite violence or prejudicial action against a person or group of people based on their race, gender, age, ethnicity, nationality, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, language ability, moral or political views, socioeconomic class, occupation or appearance (such as height, weight, and hair color), mental capacity and any other distinction-liability. The term covers written as well as oral communication and some forms of behaviors in a public setting. It is also sometimes called antilocution and is the first point on Allport's scale which measures prejudice in a society.
In the United States, government is broadly forbidden by the First Amendment of the Constitution from restricting speech. Jurists generally understand this to mean that the government cannot regulate the content of speech, but that it can address the harmful effects of speech through laws such as those against defamation or incitement to riot.
Since such laws often apply only to the victimization of specific individuals, some argue that hate speech must be regulated to protect members of groups. Others argue that hate speech limits the free development of political discourse and ought to be regulated, but by voluntaristic communities and not by the state. Still others claim that it is not possible to legislate a boundary between legitimate controversial speech and hate speech in such a way which is just to those with controversial political or social views.
Where such laws exist they are limited by the constitutional rights to freedom of expression. For example, the German constitution is subtly more restrictive, guaranteeing 'freedom of voicing one's opinion' and elsewhere restricts its misuse against the public peace. The German Criminal Code specifically forbids inciting hatred against ethnic groups, and revisionism, as in France under the Gayssot Act, is prohibited under those grounds.
What is hate?
Hate, as a mode of guilt or of pride, generates destructive thoughts (but at a lesser intensity than paranoia). Antithetical thoughts, when directed to other people, represent pride ; when directed to oneself, represent guilt. [¹]. At a much lesser intensity of denigration, criticisms of other people represent jealousy, whilst criticisms of myself arise from my sense of idealism.
Hate by itself is the emotional dynamic of the ability to sustain long periods of concentration and meditation. It does not require an object to focus on (it mirrors pure love in this respect;it is a general-purpose tool for cutting positive attachments, especially in relationships (for example, pride in hate mode rejects another person, whereas hate by itself rejects any pleasant attachment to the other person). Hate produces clear thinking and strengthens a person’s will power. It supports the desire for solitude. It cools the mind and may easily be mistaken for a mild sense of peace. It is likely to be the prevailing mood when a meditater claims that they are no longer acting from a sense of ego. The skilful way of using hate is to clear the mind of redundant attachments and desires.
My thoughts: And please Mo, bear with me. I am not a hater. I do not hate anyone.
What hate can do to a man! Fathers final life lesson. My Father had a heart of Purple, and he would help anyone at anytime. He was a heavy drinker mainly because he was trying to forget the horrors of WWII. He had learned prejudices. It made me take stock as a teenager. I do not have prejudices.
Daddy needed a life lesson. I sent my father on a mission. After his retirement he was a lost soul consumed with hate. He became Archie Bunker. Locked in a bunker. He loved his work and he retired at age 52. A retired Teamster Vice President consumed with hate for a man who gave JFK such grief. Dad had plenty of time and money. Father went to work at Sunny Acres a former TB hospital and a retirement home. Father's lesson was that he learned that all people are the same. Father met one of his childhood heroes.
A former Star of the Cleveland Indian's named RED RUFFING. Red was a black man who my father helped in his elder years. Dad loved this black man and even was given some of RED'S personal items. Father realized that all people are the same.
All people are persons.
Father's hatred for one man was all consuming.
Father spent untold hours working on hating one man.
So much time to hate it ate away his life and made him a shell of a man.
What the heck happen?
What is my point?
The point would be that all people should vote, but do not vote because you hate another.
Rather vote for love, honor and duty of country. A fine line exists between love and hate.
MajorOZ-ity rule!

36. Aw Mo,
I just got back from voting
(and boy is my brain tired.)
It is cold, with a moderate to heavy rainfall in
Connecticut.
We are voting on those new paper ballots that you color in the oval.
Because of the rainfall, a wet ballot will not count, so there was a gentleman at the door who handed me a paper towel. Should I have tipped him?
Anyway, for what it is worth, Obama appears on the top of this ballot, which includes all candidates Democrat and Republican.
The paper ballot goes into a tabulator. I checked the count (which is displayed) and it was 597. Although I live in a small town with one polling place, this seemed a bit low for this time of day.
So, I am going to go out on a limb and predict lower than expected turnout (tumescence) for CT.
On the ground in Connecticut, this is JG reporting for 180.

And congratulations to all the slogan contestants!

37. John - do you think Chester Arthur will ever return?
Gabrielle at 11:29AM on Feb 5th 2008
38. Gaby,
I don't know. I hope so. I like C.A.'s writing and I thought things were left on an understanding positive note.
So, you and FINN, eh?
I miss Dr. Wayne.
And who gave Miguel the day off?
I'm hoping all Roccats weigh in on their voting
experience.
Tatami Tuesday!

39. Not sure about Chet Art...
...but I think I just saw Ulysses S. Grant on a Jeff Hoard blog!
Also, have you heard they're calling the enormous shift in support an "Obama Tsunami" now?
http://news.aol.com/political-machine/2008/02/05/obama-tsunami-building/
"Conservative pundits like Hugh Hewitt, like the animals before the South Asian tsunami, are sensing an imminent disaster for the Republican party"
A little dramatic, don't ya think?
Then again maybe it will catch on...

I want to know what happened to President Samuel
J. Tilden of New York?
If I could get Alexander Graham Bell on the phone, I would ask him.
