Paczki Day 2008
Watch and enjoy. (And to all you Paczki know-it-alls, I acknowledge that I lapsed a couple of times and used "paczki" as a singular when it's plural. My bad.)
Can you recommend other ethnic doughnuts? We want to hear all about them!

1. How much fun! Theresa Wicowski totally reminded me of my Great Grandma Pringle (only we're Italian). I feel all warm & fuzzy.
Mo, you have the best job ever! Thanks for taking us along...

3. Leave it to the Polish to mispronounce doughnut.
We make redneck donutz at my house. All one needs is a tube of prepared biscuits( pilsbury), drop 'em in the deepfryer, roll in sugar when done. Yumm

4. Oh Mo, the italian doughnut is the Zeppola (or Zeppoli) we generally make them for holidays like Easter and Christmas. We fill them with either a jelly, custard or canoli type filling, then top it with powdered sugar. Absolutely delicious.
Zeppoli are traditionally made for La Festa di San Guiseppe. We made them on New Years Day (were Calabraise) with anchovies (awesome!!!) youd absolutely love them. Ill send you the recipe! :)

5. I gotta go with Mo-neek-a. Beignets are the shit. Esp. when you are hungover from a night of too much jazz, too much food and too much excess. I cherish my sugar coated memories of the Big Easy pre-Katrina.

7. I'm pretty jealous that you got to partake in Paczki Day in Michigan and I didn't. This was the first year I can remember not having any paczki!

8. I've had the legal 'American' absinthe and it really didn't do anything for me. It's too toned down.

13. Hey Mo - you've dealt with the stoners next door, take us on a field trip for absinthe. The movable feast...Hemingway...let's see if we can create the salons of yesterday? The literature of tomorrow may depend on it!
