A wonderful way to celebrate Darwin's birthday, learn more about him and/or watch a documentary about the old man, may I suggest the Darwin Legacy documentary from UKTV? It's pretty sciency and probably even boring for most, so perhaps a quick Henry Rollins Intelligent Design rant for the religion/science debaters out there.

3. Under god was added to the pledge in 1954, due to the 'red scare'. It was not originaly in the pledge. Why is it so controversial to suggest removing it from the pledge? We no longer fear communism, take it out.

As far as the Science vs. Religion debate, I try to hold a middle ground. I feel both should be able to coexist together peacefully.
But that takes a mind that is open to give and take, and most religions do not allow any amount of openmindedness on the subject.
It's always "GODS WAY OR THE DAMNATION HIGHWAY" for these folks, and only their own "MAP" (BIBLE, QUI'RAN, TALMUD,ect)will get you to the promised land.
All other "MAPS" will deviate from the only true route to salvation (West Virginia ?) and you'll end up in Pittsburgh on RT.51 after a Steelers game (loss)lets out.
(Hell on wheels ?)
The trouble is, all these "MAPS" were written in ancient times, and they don't include millenia of social and scientific progress by the human race.
Maybe it's time for the worlds great Religions to release new versions of their Operating Systems, a sort of "stained glass Windows '08"
Maybe the "Maps" printed off these new operating systems will be a bit more intelligible and easier to update and integrate with all the other "MAPS" from around the world.
How about a King William version of the Bible in a few years, eh ?

His disciples should, 150 yrs after, answer the Intelligent Design arguments to make any progress.
DNA is language, characters selected just so to represent a reality. That takes a conscious mind. This is the information age. It's ok to answer now. Or is the "theory" not a proven fact as alleged?

14. #13 - queman - huh? I will answer the Intelligent Design argument? Just because Man has not yet provided a complete and comprehensive analysis of evolution does not prove a competing theory. That theory must stand on its own.

To explain the scientific method once again...There are no proofs in science, only in mathematics. Science provides a theory to best fit the observations. When an observation cannot be explained by the theory, the old theory is shown to be incomplete and it is modified. The refinement goes on forever.
