I love Charles Barkley. I was a Republican at the same time he was and we both left the party at the same time. We left the GOP when, as Barkley puts it, "they lost their minds."
In the video below you'll see the Charles Barkley interview on CNN where he goes after the hypocritical conservatives. If you keep watching, you'll also see an explanation of why it doesn't make any sense to say you supported both Bush Sr. and Bush Jr.:

1. Charles Barkley is a very smart, funny man. I loved to watch him play basketball, not only did he play great, but I loved his attitude while he was playing. All the shows he put on which made him look like he had a temper, I always thought was a put on, part of his humor. He was also a very intense player at the same time. So while he was getting technical fouls, I was laughing at my percieved humor of the man. When his career ended in basketball, he became very popular as a man, not as a basketball star. He made many, and still is, appearances on all kinds og TV programs, not just sports, and was fun to listen to him talk. Back to his being smart. When he talks, he talks sense. He ideas are well thought out, and his manner of speaking keeps your interest, does not matter if you believe him or not. He holds a persons interest as does Obama, just in a different way. I have been fortunate to have seen quite a bit of him on TV, he has gone from his Republican stance, but I think he has gone to being a well thought out independent. He has very strong political views, and this video showed a few of them.
I would love a youtube video of Cenk and Charles Barkley going one on one in basketball. It would probably be so funny you could make a Bub Light commercial out of it for the next Superbowl.

3. So if conservatives are "Fake Christians" are the Clinton's "Real Christians"?!!! It's time for both Bush and the Clinton's to step aside and let someone else run the country. Considering how Congress is doing, in which both Obama and McCain (who might as well be sleeping with Ted Kennedy) are both a part of, I am a little bit concerned about where we are going as a country! God please save us!!!

4. Before I cooment, I am straight, married, and an Eastern Orthodox Christian Priest who deeply and completely believes in our Lord and God and Savior Jesus Christ. I, too, used to be a Republican until they took the hypocritical, right wingnut, judgmental, nut-case, fake Christian route. Now I am an uneasy registered Democrat and will vote Obama. If the Republicans ever return to their roots of being the party of small government, balanced budgets, limited taxes, racial equality, economic growth, no wars, a limited presidency, respect for the Constitution and staying OUT of people's lives (the first state to legalize abortion was Colorado under Republican Governor John Love because it was none of our darned business), I will return to the Republican party. As for the fake Christians, I have asked evangelicals MANY times to PLEASE explain to me WHERE in their so-called beloved Bible they find the command to bomb people, kill people, judge people and start wars if people don't agree with us, and NONE of these fake ignorant Bible Thumpers has EVER even taken me up on it...why BECAUSE IT ISN'T **IN** THE BIBLE!! There is a great deal about feeding the hungry, cloting the naked, housing the homeless, healing the sick, visiting the prisoners, and turning the other cheek, but NOTHING about American supremacy, starting wars, killng civilians, torturing people, or taking away civil rights. Additonally, what BUSINESS is it of these hypocrites to deny gay people the right to civil marriage? It has NOTHING to do with their belief system! If you don't want gay people to get married in your church, fine, but don't deny them a simple civil right. It isn't my business who people choose to love, and it isn't yours, either. NO ONE has EVER been able to tell me how "allowing" (as if we have the right to deny them) gays to marry hurts heterosexual marriage. No one. Why? Because it does NOTHING to heterosexual marriage. Not one thing! They CAN'T say how "The Defense of Marriage Act" or some constitutional amendment will defend marriage..because it doesn't. Gays marrying doesn't hurt straight marriage at all, and there is not one Christo-Nazi in the world who can show how it does. This is the hypocritical "Christian" (UNChristian) right wingnuts forcing their flatheaded and absurd beliefs on the rest of us. I really wish those who are persecuting and denying others their rights and supporting the criminal Bush administration and American supremacy would STOP calling themselves Christian. Christ became as one of us and lived and died and rose and ascended for ALL people, not just Americans. Jesus is NOT an American. May God bless everyone...no exceptions.

5. Why is it that leftist loons such as Cenk Uygur only believe in Christ when they are claiming someone else isn't a "real Christian?"
Robert Byngham at 4:18AM on Feb 19th 2008
6. Sir Charles also said Cenk and Ben were "white devils". So who am I suppossed to believe? Sir Charles is one big "Doofuss" to begin with.

7. Bill Clinton walking out of a church with a Bible under his arm, just having had sex with Monica Lewinski the night before, is real Christianity?? I doubt people like Charles Barkley, Majic Johnson, or Denis Rodman know much about being a Christian. You have to keep your pants zipped up.

8. #4. Father John, very good comment. How about this? How do you afford $38,000.00 toilets or island retreats if you don't incite your congregation. Them silk suits don't come cheap. By the way, Jesus did wear silk didn't he?

11. kj #9 & 10. kj, your yelling and name calling belongs on the playground and not on this site. This site is for ideas and discourse. If you have either please post them. As for calling a Priest names, I think it would be a good gesture to apologize.

12. God bless the round mound of rebound for calling it as it is. He was a republican from the south (Auburn) and has had his party leave him. Just like Christie Todd Whitman, he wants his party back.

13. I disagree with Charles comments. I think it wrong for us to judge someone's faith. That judgement day is only for God, not humans. And it's amazes me that someone claims to be a christian and then makes those comments. It has nothing to do with politics.
Jennifer Rowles at 8:37AM on Feb 19th 2008
14. To Father John: your comments touched me deeply. Thank you. I have always looked at the Eastern Orthodox Church with affection and although I am Catholic, I think the Orthodox Church is the Christian Faith as it is meant to be lived. How would I begin the process of becoming Orthodox?

Eastern Orthodox Christians ...ask an Albanian Muslim or Croatian Catholic about how tolerant and loving Eastern Orthodox Christians are.
