I love Charles Barkley. I was a Republican at the same time he was and we both left the party at the same time. We left the GOP when, as Barkley puts it, "they lost their minds."
In the video below you'll see the Charles Barkley interview on CNN where he goes after the hypocritical conservatives. If you keep watching, you'll also see an explanation of why it doesn't make any sense to say you supported both Bush Sr. and Bush Jr.:

46. So Barclay sees the hypochrists too. They're everywhere, they're EVERYWHERE!
And no, the Clinton's aren't real christians either. However, as bad as they may be, they're as holy as Christ Himself when compared to the republican neocons.
Real christians try to act like Christ. Loving all others, caring for the poor and disenfranchised... They're about as rare as a caelocanth nowadays. Hypochrist dominionists have taken over the religion and the base of the republican party. So it's going down the drain. Good riddance. They really suck as people. If He were alive, Christ would vomit at the thought of them using His name.

Just some paranoid idiot that loved Archie Bunker a lot.

48. #38 - G Whiz - Why not G-d for President indeed. Some of the Republican candidates and the current President seem to feel that they are acting as G-d's instrument, so we are almost there.
I wish my last name was Barkley so I could ask for a handout.
For some of the others suggesting that Barkley stick to talking about basketball and stay out of religion and politics...Everyone is allowed an opinion. Your job is to decide whether the person has the background and intelligence to have an opinion worth remembering. Do you listen to the famous sports/television/movie star when they support your positions?

49. Relax all, and ignore "Father" John. Knowing and admiring Eastern Orthodox Christians, I'm confident Father John is not allowed to practice as a priest, or shepherd a flock among them; and certainly not after having expressed himself in a manner so distant from the way Christ would, even to His enemies. As Aaron Sorkin said so masterfully in Studio 60, he's just another example of frustrated "pajama people", hanging out online wishing only to hurt and disrupt. Remember, "Father" John, the higher duty God lays on His shepherds; others may be hateful and accusatory and abuse Scripture's integrity and be forgiven, but God sets a sterner standard for His shepherds. Your comments fall well shy of that.

50. I admit that I am a bad Christian. As a Methodist, I believe in turning the other cheek. As a Republican, I believe in executing criminals and bombing out enemies.
Of course, as a Christian, I believe that God forgives us for not strictly following Christ's teachings.
-------------------------
Let's see. The rule is "turn the other cheek" and be nonviolent. And you approve of bombings and killings. That's "not strictly following christ?"
No, that's STRICTLY following the ANTI-CHRIST, as in doing exactly the OPPOSITE of what Christ would do. And yet somehow you think that you're ALMOST following Christ? As in "not strictly, but..."
How pathetic is THAT?
You christians are really good at lying to yourselves. Wow.

Yeah, the message of love and inclusiveness that Father John preaches is nothing like your version of Christ. No doubt. Your version is just fine with murder, war, bigotry and hatred. So no doubt poor Father John is misguided. I mean really, what was he THINKING? Talking about christ as if He was loving toward all. Where did he ever get THAT idea? No, it's obvious from observing you true christians in here that your god is in NO WAY a loving god. From looking at you numbskulls, I'd say that your god is the god of Sadism and Egotism. You pray to him every time that you speak hatred against fellow humans. So, you pray to him a LOT.
Jesus wept. Or he would, if he knew you.

52. The funniest part of his post is that he tells us all of the things in the Bible about helping the poor, etc... implying that these are the things we should be doing, yet he dismisses the parts of the Bible that clearly, and I mean in no uncertain terms, state that God hates homosexuality.
------------------------
That's because he's focused on Jesus, and not Leviticus.
Why are you?
You hypochrists ALWAYS claim that the OT doesn't really count, especially Leviticus and all the rules about killing ANYBODY that breaks a single commandment. Or killing your own kids if they disobey. Or killing homosexuals. Father John is the only one of you that ACTS like Leviticus doesn't count, though. The only one to embrace LOVE without all the KILLING and HATRED of the older books.
He's the real Christian in the room, and you're just a shallow fool trying to spit in the eye of someone that is making you look terrible by mere contrast. You're not one-tenth as decent as he is. You're not fit to fold his chausible.
Godless Heathen Brian at 6:19PM on Feb 19th 2008
53. And if you're really a nonchristian, why knock Father John of all people? He's one of like TWO christians that post here that isn't a hateful hypochrist idiot, and really cares about other people, and doesn't believe in mixing church with state. The other one is Botts.
No, you're likely a hypochrist yourself, or you'd have been dissing one of them, and not someone that isn't a part of the problem.

55. 7. Bill Clinton walking out of a church with a Bible under his arm, just having had sex with Monica Lewinski the night before, is real Christianity?? I doubt people like Charles Barkley, Majic Johnson, or Denis Rodman know much about being a Christian. You have to keep your pants zipped up.

Yes, like Ted Haggard, Jimmy Swaggart, Larry Craig, Mark Foley, and the rest of these sixty-some-odd guys caught molesting children...
http://www.armchairsubversive.org/
Hey, I'm not fond of Bill Clinton and I certainly don't see him as devout, but what's Haggard's excuse? Swaggart? Not "real" christians, I'm sure. According to you.
Incidentally, there's about sixty-four christian republicans on that list, and if you try REALLY HARD you can find about six democrats on the entire web that have been associated with the crime. Try it. It's fun.
Apparently the republican christians like to diddle the kiddles.... Praise Jesus! Pass the K.Y.

I guess this "blows" Bill Clinton out of the water!!!

Republican anti-abortion activist
Neal Horsley admitted to having
sex with a mule
(Not shitting you here, it's REAL!!!) (READ the text of the link.)
Here's my favorite part:
"however, Colmes asked Horsley about his background, including a statement that he had admitted to engaging in homosexual and bestiality sex.
At first, Horsley laughed and said, "Just because it's printed in the media, people jump to believe it."
"Is it true?" Colmes asked.
"Hey, Alan, if you want to accuse me of having sex when I was a fool, I did everything that crossed my mind that looked like I..."
AC: "You had sex with animals?"
NH: "Absolutely. I was a fool. When you grow up on a farm in Georgia, your first girlfriend is a mule."
AC: "I'm not so sure that that is so."
NH: "You didn't grow up on a farm in Georgia, did you?"
AC: "Are you suggesting that everybody who grows up on a farm in Georgia has a mule as a girlfriend?"
NH: It has historically been the case. You people are so far removed from the reality... Welcome to domestic life on the farm..."
Colmes said he thought there were a lot of people in the audience who grew up on farms, are living on farms now, raising kids on farms and "and I don't think they are dating Elsie right now. You know what I'm saying?"
Horsley said, "You experiment with anything that moves when you are growing up sexually. You're naive. You know better than that... If it's warm and it's damp and it vibrates you might in fact have sex with it."
AH HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!
AND HERE'S THE KICKER:
His last name is Horsley.
Too much. I think I pissed myself.

57. 4. Who is Barack Obama?
xxx
we know and you don't.
Try all of that bullshit you want and watch it blow up in your face. I hope all of you try your best to hit him with your usual karl rove filth because with this guy, you'll wind up eating it.
If he gets the nomination, you'll find he's Kevlar to Reagan's Teflon. You will find yourself in the losing position of actually having to discuss issues.
You know what your only point really is - he's black.
Give it your best michael richards screaming tantrum and see what happens this time.
Lie away like you're doing and it will come around. If for example, Obama says republicans are fascists, and I'd bet you are, the rest of the world will think of republicans as fascists from then on. He has that kind of power, and the republicanists have it no longer. You ain't kramer any more, you're a washed up hasbeen without an act. You're gonna get the hook.

58. Charles wants to run for governor of Alabama in 2014, but he's started things off by announcing that he doesn't particularly care for Christians. That doesn't seem like a particularly bright thing to do when you're running for office in the South. I guess he's the kind of guy you vote for if you're enamored with people like Jesse
Ventura, a truculent jock who can do no wrong.
And Charles, may want to acclimate himself with the 10 commandments and the words Jesus spoke to the pharisees if you think nobody is ever supposed to "judge" anybody according to the Bible. Our legal system makes moral judgments all the time about things like killing and stealing and rape and incest.
And speaking of abortion, it's amazing how many abortion clinics there are in inner cities run by Planned Parenthood, an organization started by avowed racist Margaret Sanger. We wouldn't want to let too many black children be born and grow up, would we? Shouldn't Charles be concerned about this atrocity being perpetrated on blacks?
Charles is kind of a larger, more obnoxious version of Rosie O'Donnell, a walking bumper sticker of useless bromides. Of course there are Christians who are hypocrites, Charles, but there are even more pagans who are, too.
And here's one Christian who's not a hypocrite: David Robinson, the great San Antonio Spur pro basketball player took some of his millions
and started a school for poor minority kids and is very active in running it.
What has Charles (Mr. golf/gambling celebrity) done with his time and money for others to help them aspire to greatness? Very little, I'll bet. He'd rather rip others, many of whom are actually doing something for folks other than themselves.
