Bill O'Reilly has officially lost it. On Thursday night's broadcast of The O'Reilly Factor on Fox News Channel he compared Arianna Huffington to the KKK and the Nazis. And it wasn't even close to subtle; he just flat out said she was like the Nazis -- on several occasions. You can't quite believe how bad it is until you watch it. You can watch it for yourself here.
This is beyond despicable. And he keeps making the same inane argument over and over. He claims that any comment left on any blog means the person who wrote the blog or edits the blog is personally responsible for the comment. How profoundly stupid or deceitful can a person be? Everyone who has ever read a blog knows that the commenters do not speak for the writer. In fact, they are often quite opposed to the writer.
The most vicious comments can be found on any conservative, liberal or moderate blog if they allow open comments. Commenters have called me every name in the book in my blogs. Am I responsible for what they call me? Come on, how stupid is that? Either Bill O'Reilly is the dumbest man alive or he is being grossly disingenuous.
Then he takes that fake outrage about some comment left on the Huffington Post and uses it to hideously smear one of the most respected political commentators in the country. Maybe I'm being naive but I really think he has gone way too far this time. I think he jumped the shark here.
I can't imagine that Fox would ever take any action against O'Reilly because they couldn't care less about civil discourse or simply doing what is decent and right. But this has to effect O'Reilly's credibility with everyone else. If he has any left at all.
And if all this wasn't bad enough, it turns out Arianna Huffington's mom actually stood up to real Nazis during World War II. O'Reilly couldn't have picked a worse target for his hateful speech. Plus, this wasn't some commenter to O'Reilly's show or website; it was O'Reilly himself who made these atrocious comments. This time, for once, he should be held responsible for them.

1. CENK
ORielly commented on Nancy Reagan recently getting sick, falling down and going to the Hospital. Huffington Posts were awash with posts that were vicious and disrespectful towards Nancy Reagan. One post said "her husband lived far to long, here is hoping she(Nancy Reagan) dies." That was one of many, many similar posts directed in a vicious manner towards the former first lady.
ORielly has a right to express disgust with Arianna Huffington for allowing those postings. Most responsible and professional Blogs do not allow what Arianna Huffington and Cenk allows, any language, any vicious or vile attacks against people is ok with the 2 of you. AOL and the DailyKos are 2 sites do not allow that conduct. Most, the majority of Democrat or Republican, Liberal or Conservative Blog sites are professional and do not allow this vile conduct that you think is commonplace and is ok.
Cenk, you are responsible for your Blog and what is allowed. Huffington likewise. The both of you chose to allow this to go on.
CENK, you come out from under your rock far to often. You said nothing about how wrong those posts were against Nancy Reagan, so your silence on it is your approval. But a chance to attack ORielly for what he said, which was very mild compared to what was on the Huffungton Blog, you jumped right on that.
ORielly had every reason and right to say Huffington was wrong for allowing those posts to go posted and stay posted.
Cenk- ORielly is still number #1, and you are no longer on Air America with it's hard to locate ratings. Get the hint yet?????

3. It's interesting that everyday chink can spew garbage, twist conservative comments, state his opinion (usually misleading, and in my opinion offensive) but yet no there is no big outrage. But as soon a way more popular pundit states an opinion that the left wing sheeple don't agree with, he needs to be "held responsible".
How can a guy like chink be such a moron? The only reason he can spout off is because of the 1st amendment, but when it doesn't suit him, we need to take action. Incredible.

4. Never saw OR heard you before. One time is enough. The filth out of your mouth shows your intelligence level.
Bill O was right, and if you are an example of one who opposes him.... I am 100% sure he is right.
Hate is never good..you Mr. Young turk...are an idiot.
Bill O can put across a point without being vulgar. You have not yet reached that status. I also think you would be much happier in another country....can I help you move?

5. Another column that has Cenk Uygur obsessing over Bill O'Reilly, what a shocker.
O'Reilly was absolutely correct in his assessment of people like Cenk Uygur and Arianna Huffington, they are completely without morals and values and have no respect for anyone who isn't a left-wing loon.
Robert Byngham at 4:27AM on Feb 29th 2008
6. Yea.. what's the matter with you Cenk... it's been some long years since 1984, get with the program!
Ignorance is bliss!
War is peace!
Four legs good two legs better!(bad example)
Authority is authoritative.(made that one up, hah!)
We have 'always' been at war with "them" (they 'know' who they are)
Truth is just an opinion! (neocon 1984!)
The fact that we don't see, hear or sense God in any way will not stop us... we HAVE a book.. and books don't lie!.(did we mention that the book is sacred? ... and that sacred means 'not questionable, ever'?) Well, there you have it... God is real!
Dinesh D'Souza can quote philosophers who question reality... therefore God is real! (if ya can't b'lieve a fiddydollaho who CAN you b'lieve?)

7. Huffington. What a disgrace. O'Reilly should yell it from the rooftops til hell freezes over. Arriana is not only deranged, but she needs some courses in how to speak English. Her Gestapo mentality leads one to believe that she really IS a 2nd generation Nazi. Cenk and her other little "waterboys" help spew this crap. Having an opinion is one thing, but she crossed way over the line of decency. Arianna would look good in a blaze orange jumpsuit, with a giant "A" branded on her head, (for ASSHOLE)

Hey, didn't Air America file Ch. 11?

Did they turn off the heat in your studios yet? I'll send you a BOR fleece blanket so you don't get to cold.

9. I agree with Cenk on this story. Bill O'Reilly is a hatemonger. He's a far-right spokesperson who consistently tries to pass himself off as unbiased.
People need to STOP taking what the MEDIA tells them for granted as fact and truth. Do you all realize they don't care about you? They don't care about news, or getting their facts straight? All they care about is RATINGS and MONEY. That's the only reason the news exists, unless it's on PBS since that's a publically funded program.
Those of who you take everything Bill says and just accepts it...without even looking into the story or the person yourself, is despicable. YOU are the reason our country is in trouble.
QUESTION EVERYTHING, and once in a while, you'll find the true answer.
Strados at 7:24AM on Feb 29th 2008
10. Strados -
Hatemonger?
For calling out comments like:
"her husband lived far to long, here is hoping she(Nancy Reagan) dies."
Newsflash - Media Matters and Air America are hatemongers among the hatemongers.
The Ugly American at 8:08AM on Feb 29th 2008
11. Wrong again Young Turk...Uygur, the people know you are a loon as you write this story and everyone except for Stados, they throw in back in your hate filled face. And Strados, give us an example of Bill O'Reilly as a hatemonger... I guess you could say that he hates smear merchants, child predetors, way leient judges, crooked politicians, people in general that exploit our children and hurt our country...you need to wise up.
tellthetruth at 9:11AM on Feb 29th 2008
12. Strados - We're supposed to question everything. OK, fine. I question you. You think PBS is the only Network that isn't biased? Please. Conservatives are treated like some sort of bizarre cultural oddity on PBS.
O'Reilly may be an overbearing lout sometimes, but overreacting to somebody else's acceptance of hatred doesn't seem like the a crime against humanity. It's Ariana Huffington and the left wing loons that have the splainin' to do.
This comment about Nancy Reagan is typical of the kind of hate fest that occurs in the blogs every time somebody who's a big name in the Republican party or in Christendom passes away. When Jerry Falwell, for example, made his departure, the comments were unbelievably vile and hate-filled.
There is small, but growing number of Democrats who are simply, like the Bolshiveks of old, political street-fighters, who will do or say virtually anything to advance their cause.

13. It's hard to tell which is worse. Huffington is a lunatic desperate for attention and O'Reilly is really getting to be a loose cannon. Following in Huffington's footsteps albeit slowly and with a little less venom. Why do people keep giving attention to either, especially Huffington? She is a nut case! She acts like some special ed kids I've taught. They will do ANYTHING for attention. Better her money be spent on therapists than the salon.

14. Psst... O'Reilly's very own blog had people commenting about shooting Hilary and any number of other ridiculous, hate-spewing comments.
Or, did you all forget the whole problem he had with Kos?
O'Reilly's a hypocrite and a punk with little or nothing to add to today's political discourse. He should just go back to his roots in half-baked tabloid television with Hard Copy. The man will, inevitably, fail as reality refuses to fit into the tiny box of his own ignorant perception.
Dan at 9:26AM on Feb 29th 2008
15. Bill O'Reilly is nothing more than a hatemonger and a hypocrite .... and let me add prejudice, insecure, bad person
Anyone with a minuscule amount of intelligence knows that you cannot control blog comments. I have seen horrible, hateful responses on many reputable sites (including aol).
Unfortunately, he seems to have some sort of following. This leaves me very disconcerted with a portion of society. I do not understand how people can support someone that constantly and deliberately breeds hate. If you ask me ... that is a true definition of Naziism.
