Bill O'Reilly has officially lost it. On Thursday night's broadcast of The O'Reilly Factor on Fox News Channel he compared Arianna Huffington to the KKK and the Nazis. And it wasn't even close to subtle; he just flat out said she was like the Nazis -- on several occasions. You can't quite believe how bad it is until you watch it. You can watch it for yourself here.
This is beyond despicable. And he keeps making the same inane argument over and over. He claims that any comment left on any blog means the person who wrote the blog or edits the blog is personally responsible for the comment. How profoundly stupid or deceitful can a person be? Everyone who has ever read a blog knows that the commenters do not speak for the writer. In fact, they are often quite opposed to the writer.
The most vicious comments can be found on any conservative, liberal or moderate blog if they allow open comments. Commenters have called me every name in the book in my blogs. Am I responsible for what they call me? Come on, how stupid is that? Either Bill O'Reilly is the dumbest man alive or he is being grossly disingenuous.
Then he takes that fake outrage about some comment left on the Huffington Post and uses it to hideously smear one of the most respected political commentators in the country. Maybe I'm being naive but I really think he has gone way too far this time. I think he jumped the shark here.
I can't imagine that Fox would ever take any action against O'Reilly because they couldn't care less about civil discourse or simply doing what is decent and right. But this has to effect O'Reilly's credibility with everyone else. If he has any left at all.
And if all this wasn't bad enough, it turns out Arianna Huffington's mom actually stood up to real Nazis during World War II. O'Reilly couldn't have picked a worse target for his hateful speech. Plus, this wasn't some commenter to O'Reilly's show or website; it was O'Reilly himself who made these atrocious comments. This time, for once, he should be held responsible for them.

31. If someone writes: "I wish Nancy Reagan were dead!" it's an opinion. Why not let it stand? Sure, it's distasteful, but everyone who reads it knows that.
Is O'Reilly advocating for censorship? He doesn't sound like much of American if he is.

32. The Huff lady is a coo coo bird. She has no viability. She should write for the Esqiire Mag. Her crap would fit right in with their garbage.

33. O'Reiily preaches hate, hate and hate.
How in the world can you people support him?
UYGUR is right.
He should lose his show.
He has said terrible things about Sen. Clinton.
If that was you or I they would arrest us!

34. Steve - Conservatives haven't declared a Holy War against America. It's the secular/progressives that have thrown a little fit because GW Bush beat them twice and these folks have resorted to routine character assassination in all their little blogs. It's the Bush haters that have called him a terrorist, a murderer and a Nazi.
And no, don't kid yourself big guy. We don't fear you. But we do understand the damage unbridled liberalism can do: High taxes, third trimester and partial birth abortion, government health care, an exponential expansion in the welfare state, government intervention in every aspect of our lives and dangerously naive foreign policy.
All bad things. And that's what a Barrack Obama Presidency may bring.
Incidentally, I think, if you listened to Newt Gingrich for 5 minutes you might learn something. The man is brilliant and has some great ideas for bi-partisan solutions. Maybe Americans can stop bashing each other for 5 minutes and acknowledge the fact that if we don't work together, our country is probably going down (the drain.)

35. As far as Fox news goes they should bring back Dennis Miller and dump O'Reilly. I didn't think anyone could be worse than Dennis but i was wrong.

36. Bill O'Reilly just recently said he was not going to join a "Lynching Party" out for Michelle Obama without more evidence. That was not a comment from a listener but from his own big racist mouth. I am amazed this asshole is still on tv or radio after that one. And Cenk Uyger did not call Bill O'Reilly an asshole. I DID!!!!

37. Captain
I see you are down in the sewer with Huffington and the slime that populate her blog site.
And I take it as approval by you for also hoping Nancy Reagan dies, since you did not say nothing over the slime balls posting on Huffington Blog that were hate filled comments about Nancy Reagan who did nothing to anyone, except be marries to the 2nd most popular President in the USA, and the most hated by your fellow Liberal Fascists.
And you are upset about ORielly making a comment about Nazi and directing it at another person. The same as you did when you at first made comments about German Guy because you did not like his opinion, then called him a NAZI.
Captain, once again you show what a two faced slime ball you really are.

38. #33 Dave. Thanks for your response. I think that you are correct that we have more in common than we realize. Unfortunately, we, and conservatives mostly have been driven by fear and hate into a frenzy. This is not by accident but by design. We agree on smaller government. But check out the Metropolitan Life statistics (they keep statistics on everything). Since 1950 Democratic administrations have had smaller governments and less spending than republicans. They, the republicans, don't tell you that, Instead they say the opposite having no regard for the truth. Its the republicans who have raised taxes after hypnotizing you into believing that it is the wicked liberals that want your money.
Then there is health care. The entitled, the medical industry, the pharmacutical industry, etc. has gone on a campaign to control legislation, keep American drugs at a high cost, perform easy proceedures at an inflated fee and keep insuarance costs high. According to news reports the average U.S. worker spends over $1,000.00 per month on insurance. The average self employed, $1,500.00. Add the local pharmacy bill to that and I spend an extra $500.00 per month on medicine for my family.
Holy war? Not on America but on liberals. The conservatives have engaged in a campaign to take back America. They have united with the christian right in a smear campaign against us. Those think tanks have video rooms to train candidates to have certain dialog. they are taught to say "tax and spend liberals, caffe latte liberals," you know the drill. They are taught to spread misinformation and receive daily faxes to "spin" the facts or as Bush says "to catapult the propaganda."
Now to our agreements. We all want our civilization to be sustaining and prosperous. We all want justice and fairness. Lets join together with ideas and ideals to acheive these ends. Its just that conservatives of late are using spin, hatred, division, symbols and misinformation to give their corporations record profits and their candidates re-elected.
To you Dave, thanks for responding about the issues and not with insults.

39. INSANE OKANE, you are full of shit.
You and your ilk are just plain STUPID. Fux Noise knows it and they cater to your stupidity.Fux Noise knows they can lie to you and yours. They do it intentionally. They lie constantly and shamelessly.
I have NEVER commented on Nancy Reagan. Never! Show me where I have, you fuckinng moron.
You have way too much time on your hands, Okane.
Maybe I'll take you seriously when you move out of your daddy's basement.

40. The truth is that Huffington regularly removes conservative comments while leaving some very vile liberal ones. While "nazi" may be overstating the matter, some conclusions can be drawn from how Huffington chooses to edit her sight.
Greg at 10:31AM on Mar 2nd 2008
41. Steve - Thanks. I would agree that most American generally want the same things. I grew up as a Democrat and never dreamed I'd be a Republican someday. Now, once again, my party has left me and I don't think I'm alone in saying that.
No one I know wants a big national debt. Just about everyone wants access to good health care and a good quality education, to be able to experience the American dream and no one wants to live under tyranny. Most Americans want a strong national defense and at least some restrictions on abortion, including parental consent. The list goes on. Too bad things have gotten so polarized....
Dave at 5:17PM on Mar 2nd 2008
42. Wow ... it's amazing that you can identify a conservative or liberal posting on this site by reading their first sentence.
The conservative seems to be less educated and motivated by hate, greed, and an extreme sense of entitlement.
If they knew American history, they would realize that we are all immigrants...unless you are of Native American decent and your ancestors were slaughtered and those that did survive were placed on desolate land by the "white men" that invaded YOUR country.
Instead of suggesting that Cenk should "go back to his country". maybe those that made such comments should move to Cuba or China where you will be surrounded by a government with your same ideology.
Cenk, you are welcome here and are entitled to the same freedom and rights that ALL Americans experience.

43. disgusted (#41) Thank you.
Dave & Steve (#37 & 40) - Nice that you have found some common ground. Now to reject the extremists on both sides and expand on that commonality. Work for solutions that meet as many needs as possible on both sides.
