Last night, Hillary Clinton won by 10 points in Ohio, 18 points in Rhode Island and three points in Texas. But she also lost Vermont by 20 points and lost the Texas caucus (Texas has a caucus and a primary; she won the primary). So, according to the latest count by the Associated Press, she picked up a 12 delegate advantage last night.
Barack Obama won more delegates in just South Carolina. He beat Clinton by a 13 delegate margin in that state. So, Obama picked up a bigger delegate lead in just South Carolina than Hillary Clinton did in all the states combined last night.
As elated as the Clinton team is today -- and they deserve a lot of credit for being tough fighters to the end -- the math is simply undoable for her. Obama still has about a lead of about 140 in pledges delegates. Even if you count in the super delegates -- which in all fairness to the voters, you shouldn't -- he still has about 100 delegate lead. Unless something goes catastrophically wrong for Obama, she simply cannot make up that lead.
Hillary Clinton should enjoy a well-earned win from last night, but she should also come to the realization that she didn't win by enough and she is basically done.

"Hillary Crossed The Line. She should drop out after saying this..."
Captain, was there ever a line that the Clinton team would not cross if it suited their ends?
Think about this. If one refuses to cross a particular "line in the sand" then there is a chance one does not based upon a set of values.
If there are no values then there can be no lines to be concerned with. This is going to be a nasty sprint and summer. Hope it does not wind up like Chicago "68".

17. Let's see.
Cenk has a radio show on AirAmerica which nobody listens to...is it still even on the air?
Writes a blog here that is considered by anyone with a serious sense of fairness...a joke...gets what a few thousand readers a day?
He gets no exposure, appears as a pundit on no news shows, is never quoted, his opinions are never counted as serious or worth repeating.
I guess by his own standards he should realize he does not have a career as a journalist or a pundit and is basically done.

18. Hey Big Guy,
Make no bones about it, Hillary will be the Democrats nominee in the end. Obama has proven to be a very tenacious opponent, but I don't think he's going to get the nod.
It will all be about super delegates, boss. And, since not all are elected officials (rumors are that Al Gore, Jimmmy Carter and Howard Dean are super delegates), they can over ride the popular vote.
It's easy to get the impression that Democrat Party official's see the popular vote as merely a "people's recommendation or who the people would like to see" as the nominee.

19. I don't care if this race goes all the way to the Convention. As long as Hillary Clinton is a lot less like Hillary Clinton and a lot more like Mike Huckabee. She needs to stop hurting the party. It is not doing her any favors. If she continues the Debbie Downer noise it not only ruins her chance for the presidency at any future moment but risks her Senate Seat as she alienates a large part of her constituency she can't hope to win without. She can't go scorched earth without scorching the earth on which she is standing. If it does go all the way it keeps attention on Democrats and away from that other guy. People might forget who he is. If Obama goes in and wins at the Convention he will do it will all eyes upon him in dramatic fashion. His speech would come on the 45th Anniversary of the Martin Luther King Jr "I Have A Dream"speech which would give the moment even more of a history in the making feel then it already would have. A larger than life moment I hope we have the good sense not to ruin. The Media will go ga-ga. So will the rest of us. Not a dry eye in the house. A day all America could be proud of. Obama will come out with a bounce a mile high looking like Mr. Destiny. He will come out battle tested soaring in the polls and tough to beat. I almost feel sorry for John McCain. Almost...

21. ROBERT YOU ARE AN IDIOT. you probably think that the human race can destroy the world to, don't you? you fool! Humans are nothing compared to God and what He/Mother nature can do. You can be squashed in a milli-second! you infidel! and if you think that America can be bankrupt that also makes you stupid. Get a freakin life and some education! Here is another thought for you to think about... The President can not do much of anything. the only thing a president can do is to appoint judges and to declare war. Go get a history/government book. If you Americans had any brains you would come out in droves to vote for your states representatives cause that is where the cookie crumbles.
When a president gets into office, he runs the country on what the preceding commander and chief has done. it takes at least a year to undo some of what he can undo and two years to really set forth his own dealings...so when someone says that life was good under such and such a president, they show me how stupid they are... it was the president before him that made stead fast decissions that usually can not be unchanged just be a person being elected to the presidency. join some freakin clubs and become a working member. How about volenteering to be the Bi-Laws committee chairman. It doesnt matter which club you join, just learn something will ya... That goes for the rest of you young and stupid children who have no clue who you are voting for.

22. HAS ANYONE heard of a "coocoos nest"???
putting a muslim in the White house will deffo
be a "coocoo's nest"
The coocoo bird lays its eggs in other bird's nest, and let the other birds (who don't know better) raise the chick, who, after hatching, pushes the parents eggs out of the nest. Would we want a muslim in our White house?

23. Dont forget, Oprah started all this... nobody knew who Barak Hussein Obama was, until Oprah squeezed her fat butt in --- just because a BLACK MAN was running for office. Oprah is the biggest racist and they all live in the SAME rich neighborhood in Chicago...
Oprah Winfrey, Hussein Obama, Louis Farrakhan, Razcko (muslim).... etc...

24. Hey Cenk I realize your muslim and shit but you counting Pa. out? Pa. got 157 delegates alone.

25. Schwartzkennels:
I know full well the relative power of Nature - and of course the power that the Creator has vis Mankind's limited ability. But while Man cannot "destroy the Earth" it damn sure has the power to make it a wasteland. And I'm not sure that God won't practice "tough love" and let us clean up our own mess! Thats what any wise parent would do!
America is probably already bankrupt - the Federal Govt at least. Back in the late 80's I read an anylsis by a conservative that saw no hope for our Nation avoiding bankrupcy by the mid 90's
That was based on two predictions: Republicans would not agree to any increase in Taxes, and Democrats would not freeze spending. Actually I credit Bush Sr. for "bitting the bullet" and accepting new Tax levels - which cost him the support of many Republicans & eventually his re-election bid. Clinton kept up taxes - but fought members of his own Party to keep spending down. So Bush Jr. had the benefit of two responsible predesessors, but went with the irresponsible Republican "base" & blew it!
But I do agree that more emphasis needs to be placed on local / Congressional races. The President cannot do anything by him / herself.
I wish I were in a position where I could play a more positive role! But my age, deafness and the residual paraylsis from a stroke has limited me from more active participation!
As for being an Idiot - although after my stroke, my IQ was down from the 170+ (rated by the Army) it was tested at over 130 - and that was on a very bad / stressful day for me! All I really claim is an intense desire to see our Country do well, and find a way to improve life (here first - nothing leads like example) and eventully for all of Mankind! I'd like to think that the Human race has an honorable destiny throughout the Universe!

26. Anecdotally, the Hillary supporters who post on these "NewsBlogs" appear to be overwhelmingly female.
Hillary went way too far when she claimed that the republican candidate (who expects a 100 year war) is more *qualified* than Obama.
Between Hillary and Obama, I had been ambivalent. If George Dumbya Bush has brought about the fall of the House of Bush, Hillary has brought down the House of Clinton. Hillary stands for politics as usual and she has reached a new low.

28. For sure, the Democrat Presidential Choice to run in 2008 will be decided at the Convention in August.
This is as close to actual delegate count I could find. Please correct my math.

Mr. Okane;
What needs correcting is your willful misuse of the English grammar.
I am certain that you are not a stupid man, only a man that prefers to play the part of a stupid man on these blogs rather than to use the proper name of the Democratic Party.
It is rather sad that you would choose to dumb yourself down with childish remarks.

29. Based on the headlines today: Bush - the economy has slowed, I think that it is very obvious that Bush is the 'slow' one as are his Republican buddies. Under his administration, he and his buddies have gained large $$$$ from their oil and business connections/agreements while the middle class paycheck has decreased; industries and jobs have left this country; seniors have suffered, a war has ensued, most people cannot afford housing or lost their homes, gas/oil prices have skyrocketed, and the economy is ready to take a noise dive - killing any of us that are left if we are not on top with the Bush buddies. It is time for a change, new ideas and approaches and we need someone that has experience and savy, who knows their way around politics, and is strong enough and experienced enouogh to know how to push forward. It should not matter if this person is a woman, or who their spouse is, or what nationality or color they are. Get over Hillary being a woman, get over Hillary being the spouse of Bill, and take a good, long look at her experience, knowledge, and strength - listen, don't just hear her talk and digest objectively what she states. Ignore the fluff speak of others, and digest the realism. She is the one that will provide the change for the masses, not the select few!

Captain Negative at 1:15PM on Mar 6th 2008
Dear Captain,
For many years, I have respected and have admired Senator Clinton. Imagine my enthusiasm and the pride I felt as woman when Senator Clinton decided to run for president. I always believed I would volunteer to work for her campaign, because I truly believe in her capabilities. I still believe she has all the qualifications to be an excellent president.
However, I became an Obama supporter after reading his books and his web cite. I watched the debates and I really liked his message for our country, I began to pay attention and his ideals’ won me over. Of course, all along I knew that in the end I would be happy with either candidate.
Today I find that I am very angry at what is happening and I could not agree with you more about Hillary Clinton’s actions on the campaign trail. I am incredibly disillusioned with Hillary’s behavior and that of her campaign. In my opinion her actions on the campaign trail have been well below her standards, in fact I would rank her up there right along Karl Rove’s methods of operations.
I am appalled at her fear mongering tactics and her insinuations without merit about Senator Obama’s qualifications and his integrity. Furthermore, the most infuriating truth here is that she is playing right into the GOP’s hands.
Moreover, I am so angry with my fellow democrats that are also falling into the GOP’s little web of lies. Why would we after eight years of one disaster after another, not stick together and work it out. As democrats we have two extremely qualify and strong candidates that could very well be our next president. Why blow this amazing opportunity on all this pathetic bickering. Let us just blow one more opportunity and allow McCain to be the next president.
It appears that we just never learn; we must hold our representatives accountable for their actions. I can no longer support Hillary in good conscience. When the two sides began the negativity, I wrote both campaigns letters expressing my disappointment in the tone of their campaigns and how high the stakes were, how we could not afford to blow this incredible opportunity to regain the White House. Care to take a guess at which candidate answer my letter.
Today I was compelled to write a second letter to Senator Clinton to express my disappointment in her.
