You may recognize my good friend Mary Chris Wall. I met her while I was writing for Wishbone on PBS. (The show was a blast, an unforgettable experience personally and professionally.) Mary Chris played Joe's Mom, Ellen Talbot.

Mo's Bio
Mo Rocca appears on a bunch of shows, including CBS News Sunday Morning (with the indescribably wonderful Charles Osgood), The Tonight Show on NBC, and NPR's Wait Wait... Don't Tell Me! He's a sometime judge on Iron Chef and was featured on Telemundo's Amore Descarado. Last year he starred on Broadway in the 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. His expose "All the President's Pets" was published by Crown in 2004.

1. My initial thought is, of course, no way. I wouldn't even want to go to a baby shower myself. But then, I thought, if I had to go, why not take some burly man with me to protect me from all that estrogen wafting about?

3. This is a perfect example of multitasking, and female cunning as well.
1. Baby shower + date = kills two birds with one stone!
2. Allows female to force prospective love interest into showing:
A. feelings about babies and their possibility.
B. Behavior toward unskinny women.
C. Compatability with woman's friends.
D. Ability to manage awkward situations.
This was a brilliant plan! Kudos to you, Mary.

We loved Wishbone on PBS...!
I often feel like a female aberration, as there are very few musicals/chick flicks/Precious Moments figurines/ and baby showers that tempt me!
(this is just between us okay?)
I'll bet Mary could have a blast if the prospective date had a great sense of humor...and think of the fun afterwards! Chaste fun that is...:) It all depends on the mom to be...and her comfort level.

I think that if she is ticking then it might be scary but if she isn't then it would be kinda funny. I dated a woman who wanted to know on our first date if I saw having kids with her. I didn't call again

Making out on a first date AND at a baby shower = Really bad.

We just saw the BBC "Pride and Prejudice" and were disappointed that Darcy wasn't a cute little dog. Wishbone rules.
