While Senator Obama's pastor has been ripped to shreds in the media, John McCain's have gotten a complete free ride. Did you know that the man John McCain calls his "spiritual guide" thinks the purpose of America is to get into a giant war with all of Islam and destroy it? Other than being bigoted, that's also insane. And how much have you heard about that guy? Who can even name who he is?
Other pastors whose endorsements John McCain has proudly accepted have blamed the city of New Orleans for Hurricane Katrina and America's liberal policies for the attacks of 9/11. How is that any different than what Rev. Wright said? Find out the heinous comments McCain's pastors have said here:
Get the full quotes of all the Republican nominee's pastors here. The double standard that the press has for pastors that support Democrats and Republicans is insane. It is so brazen that I can't quite believe they don't see it for themselves.
Unfortunately, a lot of what drives our elections are not the most pressing issues of the day, like the Iraq War or the economy. It's what the press chooses to cover. And if they choose to beat Obama's pastor to a pulp and never cover McCain's pastors, do we really have a fair system that allows to choose between the different candidates with all the information we need? This is not a level playing field and it's hurting the country.

61. Seriously, it amazes me just how partisan you are, "Cenk".
Bizarre.
I guess everyone needs their blind, irrational followers. Obama's got you.

62. I am not a religious person, I don't attend religious services in any denomination. I do believe in God but in my own way, when I want to. What seems crazy about this situation is the way the media ia mixing religion with politics. Isn't there a rule that religion should not interfere with politics and vise versa?
Now that we know both Obama and McCain have bias, outspoken leaders of their religious beliefs, does that mean we wait for Clinton's to be exposed?
Are we to believe theses men of God have so much influence over both men that Obama and McCain secretly are bias and racist? Will we see their ugly side if either is elected?
I really think the media should forget about which clergyis in God's dog house and go to the next subject. The Health Care or the Economy would be okay to compare each way of dealing with, that is unless Clinton wants her clergy to be evaluated.

63. Media bias is so apparent in this campaign. So is your bias. McCain and his ministers reflect a lot of mainstream American thought. The media are afraid to go after him because so much of the pubic thinks the same way to one degree or another.
Until recently Obama has been given a free ride. You would have thought the media were cheerleaders rather than reporters.
Sen. Clinton has gotten the worst of it, including from you. So explain to me how exactly sexism is less repugnant than racism? Why is Sen Clinton due less respect than Obama?

64. McCain has not gotten a passs for his nutty Pastors.I had read articles on all that stuff before.
The fact is, McCain's supporters\, and McCain probably, actually believe a lot of what his wacko, racist Pastors say, so there is no hypocracy.
Obama claims not to believe what his wacko, racist Pastor says, yet did not get up and walk away. Obama is shown to be a hypocrite once again.
Following in Bush's footsteps, Obama lied to Americans about his NAFTA intentions, then lied about speaking to Canada, and then totally paniced at the ensuring press conference. He's a liar and a hypocrite.
And just like Bush did, he is running on personality, not platforms.
He may be galvanizing Americans who never before have been involved in the process, but that is because if you follow politics, you know a con artist when you see one. Neophites are easily swayed.
If Obama becomes President, it will be Bush Redux, but with a far left slant.

65. My pastor never speak that hard against group of people, but he speak the truth according to the word of God. God has no respect of person, you sew you reap. This isn't about Obama's or his pastor its about you and I. no one knows me better than I myself. It should make me take a hard look within myself, and God help me if I don't know right from wrong. If you can't stand for right, the only thing left is wrong. We as a nation have been divided as long as I've been alive and sixty years old. Don't you think its time to come together as a nation? Look at Obama as a man, a man that so desperately want to bring us together. He has been in Washington long enuff to know it not working for all people, We the people need to make our repersenatives do what we sent them to Washington to do. It seem to me once they are there they forget who they are working for. And for to long we've let them get away with it. Obama want to give us back our rights, most of us don't under it.
We the people can change Washington. But we have to come together, Obama can't change his pastors mind about anything, no more than I can change yours, but if he stick around pastor will be able to see through him that anger doesn't win people over. Obama knows the reverand lived through the lynchens, hanging, burning, degrading past. But Obama say it time to get over it, lets come together other wise we are all going down with the count.

66. Is this supposed to be a defense of Obama or an attack on McCain, because it can't be both. The sword that cuts McCain cuts Obama, and the shield that protects Obama protects McCain, get it? Hatred is contemptible NO MATTER its origin, so pointing fingers at another party's candidate does very little (actually nothing) to absolve Obama. So what's the point here? Either way, libs lose. By the way, in case you folks hadn't noticed: all three of these candidates are politicians, which makes them--by definition--liars and prostitutes. Trust none of them.

67. Now THIS must be the constructive dialog that Obama mean in his MPU speech from Philadelphia!
I wonder if this represents the "typical" Obama voter?

"Paul, come Monday morning, I hope you'll use some bleach in your
laundry. Your sheet is kinda yellow and dingy.
Interesting that Obama's numbers have rebounded as more people see Obama's speech than have watched Reverend Wright video clips. Obama
is back in the lead.
Get used to it. You racists are just whimpering amongst yourselves.
Maybe you aren't a closeted, wannabe, Klansman. Maybe you are a closeted Moonie. Maybe you are one of those people who think that earthquakes, hurricanes and tsunamis are caused by white tolerance for gays and non-Christian fundies.
The only difference between Reverend Wright and the Christian lunatics you support is COLOR.
Deny it if you can." --Captain Negative

And here I actually thought the Democrats might have a shot this November. Man, I'd love to see Al Gore and Hillary Clinton team up on an Independent ticket if the DNC nominates Obama...they'd win in a landslide.

68. I thought Barack Obama's lae attempt to equate his grandmother with Reverend Wright tookpathetitc to a new low level, but Cenk Urgyr has managedto sink even lower. By theway Obama exaggerated grandma's supposed racism. In his book the being afraid of black men on the street was a single incident where she was aggressively panhandled by an individual who was black.
Now libs like Cenk Urgyr and David Corn are apoplectic in trying to deflect attention away from the fact that Barack Obama attended a church for 20 years where the minister regularly slandered his country and preached hatred against it and whites with demagiguery such as evil white government scientists injecting AIDS into the black community. And Barack. He said not one word of protest until recently outed.
That Urgyr tries to tie McCain's solitary meeting with a preacher and an endorsement by another with some extreme views into equivilancy, lets call it guilt by nonexistent association, is pathetic.
Moroever Urgyr suffrs from amnesia if he blieves white ministers get a pass for the outrageous and black ministers are persecuted out of racism.Pat Robertson, the late Jerry Falwell and others are (rightly) taken to task for their outrageous outbursts. Funny how te same folks who get ther panties in a wad every time Robertson stiks his size 12 in hi mouth are silent as dead lambs whenvr Jesse "Hymietown" Jackson pops off. And their candidates? They share the stage with Al Sharpton who called Asians "prasites" and instigated lethal mob violence when he urged hismob to "drive them from our neighborhoods."
Barack Obama made this bed with reverend Wright for 20 years. Now he has to sleep in it.

69. As if there wasn't enough confusion already in this discussion, now my friend, the Captain, is running around screaming about Moonies.
What are we suggesting here? Are the Moonies taking over the world or just the US? Is this like a "Pinky and the Brain" re-run or what?
What the Captain, like most liberals, really hates, is ideological diversity, when there is a competing conservative voice to counter that big left-wing icon called the Washington Post. That drives them nutty and they've got to try and shut that down. Any way they can.
Dave at 7:23PM on Mar 23rd 2008
70. I think you are right, Paul. This upcoming election should be a shoe-in for the democrats after 8 years of the Bush-Cheney Junta.
If Bush and Cheney were running again, the democrats could pick a local animal control officer and beat those two.
But if the democrats can find a way to lose an election, they'll do it. Chances are, we'll end up with a continuation of the neocon agenda in the form of McCain.
Captain Negative at 7:30PM on Mar 23rd 2008
71. Jay, you talk about the sword cutting both ways, but conclude that Obama is the loser?
He is only the loser to racists. To everyone else Obama made a brialliant speech. He could have taken an easier path. Instead, he addressed the problem from a variety of perspectives.
The newer numbers are showing that Obama only suffered temporarily and that more people saw his response than have seen the remarks of Reverend Wright.
Racists won't forget it, but other people are moving on.
Captain Negative at 7:45PM on Mar 23rd 2008
72. John McCain's PASTORS?!? How many does he have? A lot of nuts endorse McCain, so what? Does he go to all of their churches with his family? This is Obama's ONLY Pastor for many years. Duh.....did Obama's people NOT see this coming? We have been seeing things on the internet for two months about it. It just only now became news. And for the record, I don't like either McCain or Obama. I cannot imagine the future of this country.

No truer words have ever been spoken! So which group in America can't forget their race most often? Which group in America is so obsessed with their race that they have to identify themselves with a hyphen?

74. McCain's pastors get their inspiration from God....Obama's gets his from Satan.
Joe at 8:23PM on Mar 23rd 2008
75. The one thing that is crystal clear, is that Obama is not a Christian. No true Christian would stay in a church like that. Wright is not a man of God, and the 8,000 members of his church are not children of God.
