While Senator Obama's pastor has been ripped to shreds in the media, John McCain's have gotten a complete free ride. Did you know that the man John McCain calls his "spiritual guide" thinks the purpose of America is to get into a giant war with all of Islam and destroy it? Other than being bigoted, that's also insane. And how much have you heard about that guy? Who can even name who he is?
Other pastors whose endorsements John McCain has proudly accepted have blamed the city of New Orleans for Hurricane Katrina and America's liberal policies for the attacks of 9/11. How is that any different than what Rev. Wright said? Find out the heinous comments McCain's pastors have said here:
Get the full quotes of all the Republican nominee's pastors here. The double standard that the press has for pastors that support Democrats and Republicans is insane. It is so brazen that I can't quite believe they don't see it for themselves.
Unfortunately, a lot of what drives our elections are not the most pressing issues of the day, like the Iraq War or the economy. It's what the press chooses to cover. And if they choose to beat Obama's pastor to a pulp and never cover McCain's pastors, do we really have a fair system that allows to choose between the different candidates with all the information we need? This is not a level playing field and it's hurting the country.

121. If anyone doesn't think this race is about money, big money, they are fooling themselves. Please folks, don't let the lobbyists and special interests win this nomination. Check out who is getting the most support from lobbyists; weapons industry, etc.

122. Arab-American Activist Says Obama Hiding Anti-Israel Stance. I think It's far worse than McCain's preacher case. Abunimah's report included a photo of Obama with his wife Michelle seated at a table with virulently anti-Israeli Professor Edward Said and his wife Mariam.

123. So, Dave, doesn't EVERY president violate the church/state doctrine by having, "PRAYER BREAKFASTS?"
Doesn't Congress violate the church/state doctrine by starting each session with a prayer?
Deciding that a minister has violated church/state makes every one of your Christo-fascist clergymen guilty of violating church/state doctrine.
It only bothers you when the black guy does it.

124. I will vote on November 4. I really do not find myself impressed by any of the candidates. St Hillary talks about "dodging bullets" and health care reform. Obama is promising programs that will drive the national debt to the stratosphere. It's not far from that now. McCain comes across as a smoothe politician. His ferocious out-of-control temper is legendary. I'm not really impressed by any of them. What's a voter to do?

125. “When did it become illegal to be a Republican?”
****
******
While I assume this was a rhetorical question I find it quite interesting. As such, I think I will answer it with nothing more than a personal opinion.
If this were not so damn sad, it would actually be a very funny topic to discuss while watching the Bush Junta (Sorry Captain, I just had to steal one of your many descriptions you like to referred to when describing the bush kid). I have to say that based on what we as a nation have had to endured over the course of the last eight years, yesterday would have been too late to make being a Republican illegal.
Cheney was asked if the war was worth it, especially when over 70% of Americans oppose it. His answer, a resounding NO, the man (using this term loosely here, he is the devil) he does not give a damn what we think or how we feel about this war. It seems to me he does not give a damn about the American citizens or this country. He only cares about money and how much he can get and he does not care how he gets his money our troops blood means squat to this dark hole. Today we have reached over 4000 troops killed in combat. The administration refuses to count those soldiers that die on the way to the hospital or at the hospital, therefore, the number is much higher than 4000. There are approximately 30,000 troops whom have been maimed and will never be the same. I stand by what I said earlier, yesterday would not have been soon enough!
However, I personally do not believe that Republican citizens should be held accountable for the lies and crimes of the “Bush/Cheney Junta”. They should however, apologize for voting for these two sick criminals in the first place, at the very least for voting for them the second time. The sweet justice our nation needs is to see Cheney, Rove, Rumsfeld, Gonzalez, countless other behind the scenes law breakers and of course last but not least King George behind bars.
Therefore, while we all waste time on these blogs and we fling mud at each other about whose priest, pastor, and reverend said what, or whom they hate most. McCrazy is assuming the nutty present president’s role. Wow, strap on your seatbelts and get ready for one more war that is senseless with Iran. However, you just keep on worrying about the loony pastors, because after all that is so much more important than our economy, healthcare, education, nation debt and even national security. Let us continue to weaken our already spent troops.
Yes, yesterday was definitely too damn late to make it illegal!
I am off now to find myself a hard hat along with a bulletproof computer, speaking the truth these days seems to get people in a whole lot of trouble.
PEACE OUT!

126. Linda - I don't normally use caps but PASTORS ARE NOT ALLOWED BY IRS RULES TO ENDORSE POLITICAL CANDIDATES FROM THE PULPIT. If you question this, please check w/the IRS.
Captain - I know it drives folks like you nuts, but we've had prayer before opening sessions in the US Congress and in the Supreme Court for an awfully long time. It's been legally challenged and upheld. No, it is not a violation of "Separation of Church and State", an idea which, of course, is not found in the Constitution.
And a simple prayer does not "establish a state religion" which is what the founders were trying to prevent. For you to try and force atheism on everyone would simply replace one system of faith with another.
I can't "prove" God exists and you can't prove he doesn't (because it is impossible for one to be everywhere throughout time and space to verify that God doesn't exist. And by pretending to be all-knowing, you are, ostensibly, claiming one of the attributes of God for yourself.) Thus, we
both have faith.

127. I literally ask myself and all of you should too. Would you rather have a president that lies or tells the truth. This is the only campaign that brings out the true colors of the American people and point blank if this is just the start I enjoy seeing the next 4-8 years. I am not a complete fan of Barack or the Clintons but I do have more respect for Barack than the Clintons because remember Bill Clinton commited perjury. Do you really want him back in the White House. You know he and Hilary are professional Liars

128. They are not his pastors! He has NEVER attended their churches; he just got their endorsements. Obama has been attending this idiot's church for 20 years. You are making a ridiculous comparison. These are not equivalent issues at all.
This argument by Obama supporters is pathetic.

129. Seems people think its ok for a white pastor to say this, but not a black one? Pathetic. Get over it, poeple! MANY people feel the same about the 9/11 attacks and the rich and powerful white men who have run this country for a long time. Its time for CHANGE, EQUALITY and UNDERSTANDING. Let's stand together and demand to be heard. Divided we fall, but together WE (the American people, black, white, green, blue, etc!!!) are the powerful ones. If we let this moment slip away, we are giving our voices away once again.....The choice is ours.

130. I agree with Cent Uyjur statements completely. There's no different in what each Pastor said. It's very clear that the different is one was black and is connected to the Democrats while the other are white and connected to the Republicans. I also have a problem with "pastors" saying they preaching the word of God and when someone is offended come and denounce what they're saying. Seem like they're serving man and not God. But the saddest part is reading the comments from people, no matter how clear some thing may be they still don't except it and continue to defend wrong. If one is wrong than the same comments coming from the others are wrong.

131. John McCain does not have a pastor problem. He is not a member of Hagee’s church snd has not worshipped there for say 20 years. This is merely a front argument by the Obamaites to shift the spotlight away from their candidate who does have a pastor problem. For argument’s sake, let’s reverse the roles. Assume McCain attended Pastor Wright’s church for 20 years, and that Wright was a white man who had made the types of remarks he has—only aimed at non-whites. The media would be up in arms, and so would non-whites. This hypothetical pastor would rightly be called a racist. Well, such is the situation Obama has to answer for, and so far his arguments have been non-answers at best.
DennisDiedrich at 7:36PM on May 22nd 2008
132. What exactly did Pastor Wright say that was wrong?
If you listen to the whole sermon, he was pretty much dead on the money.
The truth hurts. And unfortunately, the idiot holier than thou, uneducated, brainwashed asswads can't handle it.
People were just looking for an excuse to not vote for someone of a different color. It's obvious.
Oh my gracious, what if he really is an undercover Muslim. Do you all have a problem with Muslims? There is only about 20 million in the USA right now.
Freaking dumbasses. We're a third world country RIGHT NOW. No homes are being sold or built in mose of the country. We just asked for $770 Million in food aide! FOOD AIDE. Are you fucking serious. All the jobs are outsourced. There are over 400,000 people unemployed from just the past year.
Don't forget the war. Don't need to go there. But let's fucking wipe out Iran and Syria off of the map. Then maybe Gas could be $20 a gallon.
Go ahead, vote McCain. Don't want that colored guy in office.

LMAO. Geez Dennis, there is no argument sake on that one. You just described about 98% of the white pastors currently in the South and Midwest. And not only do they rail against non-whites, they rail against Muslims, Gays, and Abortions. They encourage people to go to abortion clinics and courthouses to protest. You know, judge and condemn. The Christian thing to do.
