Lincoln was the first Republican, true, but the GOP traded platforms(ie.philosophy) w/ the Dem's after Teddy and Taft split the GOP @ the turn of the century. Washington was decidedly neutral during the Constitutional Convention.

When are people going to realize that Republicans and Democrats are the same. 60. Why didn't the Democrats point out Cheney's five deferments? We did. The media chose to ignore it. Just as they chose to hide Bush's "stellar" record while in the National Guard, and belittle Gore's service IN VietNam -- and the MSM did not do their job of denouncing and/or deriding the Swift Boaters' charges of cowardice against John Kerry's service in VietNam. Sure, they showed us the "purple bandaids" and "reported" about his disagreement with the war -- AFTER HE CAME HOME from the war. Not so much mention of Bush being for the war but CHOSE TO PROTECT TEXAS instead of fighting the war of his generation.
