1. The Petraeus Paradox: If we're doing well, it's because of the extra troops so we shouldn't pull them out. If we're doing poorly, obviously we need more troops. Either way, we need more troops and need to stay in Iraq longer. This supposition is obvious nonsense, yet we're taking it seriously.
2. The central government of Iraq is a myth. It is neither central nor a government. It doesn't govern anything outside of the Green Zone and is run by one Shiite militia and in no way encompasses the Sunnis, the Kurds or the other Shiite factions.
3. Giving more time to a project headed in the wrong direction doesn't help the project, it hurts it. If you're going the wrong way, people aren't helping you by giving you more time to head in the wrong direction.
Here's a quick explanation of the myths of the Iraq War:

16. I'm new at this. I'm wondering if Mr. Gassett is actually a lefty trying to make the right look senseless?

17. Cenk Uygur is not a very bright guy. It appears he only thinks things through to where it suits his bias.
If we leave, The Kurds will break away, the Iranians will invade, the Saudis will put billions behind the Sunni's, and Iraq will fall into utter chaos. This will allow Russia and china to have access on the back-end.
Then the UN will spend a few years debating what to do, and eventually decide to put forth a UN force to stabilize Iraq. Since the UN without the US cant even put together a 10,000 man force to help Dafur. Without a doubt, it will be the U.S. (as usual) putting forth the majority of the force, of which would probably be several 100 thousand more than we have there now...with a corresponding increase in casualties.
So, In a few years we would just be back, and at a much greater expense in lives and money, and to Iraq as a whole.
Cenk Uygur is a moron.

18. gassett is an insulting, generalizing, brainwashed simple-minded soul; undeserving of direct retort.
All I will say is that, due to bush's policies, and people like gassett's mentality:
bin laden is laughing at US, and bush and cheney are laughing at gassett and his (her?) ilk.

19. I agree....if you see through his crude language, and his blathering degenerative insults, he actually makes my case quite well.

20. Besides not having ever invaded a sovereign nation in the first place, what exactly do you mean when you say “three reasons for leaving Iraq”?
Patty at 3:16PM on Apr 10th 2008
21. Excuse me, but are you a General or an expert on the Middle East and war? No? then stfu. lefty.

Do you have a point ... other than the one on the top of your head? Then pull your head out of Gansta's butt and make it. I made a cogent argument, and you only admit you're confused. Nothing new here.

25. Stay the course, in Iraq, and wherever we can find our enemies. We have not had another attack in the US, since 9/11 we have these ignorant morons tied up trying to find thier tails in Iraq, let's keep them there.
Man_in_Wilderness at 4:19PM on Apr 10th 2008
26. @#1. Cap'n NegASStive says: "Great rant, Cenk! Unfortunately, logic doesn't hold sway with the 19 per centers."
What does the percent of Democrat Congress approval rating have to do with this? No....wait...that's 11 percent. My bad!

27. Iraq is beginning to look more and more like Vietnam. And it was so predictable. It is time to begin pulling our troops out of Iraq. Bush and the republican polices have been a disaster for this country. A majority of Americans see this and will vote for whoever ends up being the democrat nominee. This will happen no matter what lies and slime the right throws at the candidates.
IMO at 4:22PM on Apr 10th 2008
28. Clue: IN the world before 911 President Clinton saw the threat of Iraq and made regime change American policy.>>>
That didn't include sending American ground troops into the middle of Arabia. Only a moron like GWB would do something like that, with the predictable results.

29. I tell you this even though I'm not sure who I'll vote for in November, if McCain can promise he'll reinstitue the draft I'll vote for him today. I mean hell it seems all the folks that want to fight don't know where the recruiters office is located, maybe a letter from the DOD will give them directions. I mean hell if he can do that I'll vote for him today, (talk about early voting). I'd love to see some of these very same people on the parade deck in MCRD on day one getting their asses bent, while being told to scream "I love being a Democrat or a Republican." I would probably need an oxygen mask to keep from choking to death from laughter at some of these folks while they try to do log drills. While the D.I screams in their ears, "Al Franken is a p@#%%^ and Sean Hannity is a f@#$%^%$, and don't worry about Al Queada I'm gonna kill you right now, twinkle toes." Boy the good ole days were great. At any rate I don't think 100 years should be too bad, we'll have the draft here in about 2 1/2 years and the blogosphere will be all but silent unless you folks will be blogging from Canada aye. So come on folks says it with me BRING ON THE DRAFT BRING ON THE DRAFT BRING ON THE DRAFT. More words from good ole Logan
Logan at 5:36PM on Apr 10th 2008
30. the last thing that you should want is a draft, becuase if there is a draft a couple different things could happen: draft doggers, inadequate soldiers (they die senselessly), revolts, those who will do there "duty" but when they get there refuse to fight and either get dishonorably discharged, jailed make other troops an easy target, or hopefully they rise to the occation. There are soldiers and those folks who are meant to be soldiers and are capable of being a soldier BUT also those who simply can't or won't.
