1. The Petraeus Paradox: If we're doing well, it's because of the extra troops so we shouldn't pull them out. If we're doing poorly, obviously we need more troops. Either way, we need more troops and need to stay in Iraq longer. This supposition is obvious nonsense, yet we're taking it seriously.
2. The central government of Iraq is a myth. It is neither central nor a government. It doesn't govern anything outside of the Green Zone and is run by one Shiite militia and in no way encompasses the Sunnis, the Kurds or the other Shiite factions.
3. Giving more time to a project headed in the wrong direction doesn't help the project, it hurts it. If you're going the wrong way, people aren't helping you by giving you more time to head in the wrong direction.
Here's a quick explanation of the myths of the Iraq War:

31. Another reason is that we are spending Billions every month on this conflict. Money we are borrowing from the Chinese. We cannot take care of our own infrastructure. Very, very soon we will be bankrupt. Then what?

32. Though I understand what your saying Rob. I have to disagree on the aspect that bootcamp will weed out quite a few of those types you mentioned. Furthermore, the United States has never deployed an unproffessional fighting force, never. We have to look at it from a necessity point of veiw, we need more troops and we need them now. If this stupid war continues we'll lose more troops in the long run, due to combat fatigue, a too tired soldier may miss a trip wire he'd normally be able to see and boom a squad fragged by a single claymore or IED. But, the main thing Rob is that there will be universal sacrifice this country due to the draft. Though you set forth some very real points, there are some who simply don't want the draft because they don't want their child in harms way, but have no problem putting me, you, your child or my child in harms way. All am saying is that if a poor kid from Iowa is fighting for this country, so should the kid of a Senator, Congressman or Talk show host be over there in country. I assure you someone would find a way to get our kids home as soon as that draft calls a few out. As of right now, only Sen. McCain and Webb have chilrden serving, and I doubt they are the only ones with children in the Senate or Congress that are military age. I mean even Mitt Romney told a reporter that his sons were doing something more important, (helping run his campaign) than over in Iraq. At any rate thanks Rob for some highbrow eloquent and mature dialogue, you are a rarity in these blogs. More words from good ol Logan

33. GEE????? AREN'T THOSE THE SAME REASONS THE BRITISH USED WHEN GEORGE WASHINGTON AND HIS MEN WERE KICKING THEIR ASSES IN THE REVOLUTIONARY WAR? i THINK CENK HAS HIS HISTORY MIXED UP AGAIN?

34. THREE REASONS TO LEAVE IRAQ NOW:
1.Because Cenk and the anti-war lefties want us to.
2.Because Iran wants us to.
3.Because al Queda wants us to.
If the enemies of this nation want us to leave now, just maybe we should stay until the country is stable. (What a concept.)

35. After reading these blogs for some time, I can only say that I am truly amazed and often speechless, by the neocons lack of ability to EVER admit being wrong, regardless of the issue. By their reasoning, by God, we do it THEIR way, even at the ruin of our nation. The way I see it, if the Good Lord Himself came down today and told the neocons they were wrong, they would call him a lying leftist fascist pansy, and want Him out of THEIR country. You NEOCONS F***ing take the cake!

36. In November this country could elect a inexperienced muslim cocaine using liar, with a equally inexperienced criminal female, elect only democraps and the end result in 4 years would be that we would still be in Iraq but our taxes would TRIPLE!
Get used to it folks, we will be in Iraq for DECADES, and if you dont beleive that remember, we still have troops in Germany 60 years after the end of WWII, likewise troops in Japan, & troops in Korea over 50 years after the end of the Korean War.
IllBombYa and Billary, either one BAD for this country...both on the same ticket....I cant think of anything more frightening.
Pyro Sadist at 11:17PM on Apr 10th 2008
37. Bpers - That's a pretty big hypothetical you're offering up there, my friend. Very imaginative, though. And maybe we should just close our eyes, sing a little song and hope that will make all the bad guys go away.
And I love the way all you compassionate liberals seem to want to resurrect Saddam, put him back in power and re-establish his tyrannical, murderous reign of terror in Iraq. (No skin off your nose.) Thank God that can't and won't happen.

39. iraqi was once favored by all including the politicans till the trend changed and the peaceniks began their can't win defeatism chant and belittling the president now that same group attempt to work both sides of the fence caring for our troops and gettting out iraqi they will be the same group that very soon question why we was in iraqi in the first place such flip flopping must be hard upon them and their politcan friends maybe next war will be to their liking --- a fast food that is in and out quickly with nobody getting hurt

40. Frightening?? Frightening?? I’ll tell you what is frightening… another Republican administration, EVER! That thought alone is frightening enough to make me want to sh*t cinders.
Bpers2001 at 11:32PM on Apr 10th 2008
41. There are so many people who want the fighting in Iraq to continue for generations - KBR, Halliburton, Bush, Cheney, Blackwater, Rummy, Gonzales, Condi, Wolfie, Feith (the author of the post-invasion plan 'snort!'), John Yoo (the Constitution Terminator), and of course, the Insider - Chalabi (who, it turns out, was working for the Iranian gov't to get us involved in a war in Iraq - we fell for their trap), Bill O'Reilly, John McCain, Rush, Pat Robertson, James Dodson, Jerry Falwell (brings about the endtimes when they will reign with God, oh, and funnels a lot of ca$h their way), and don't forget Thomas J. Gassett, Robert Okane, Dave, Satan himself, and all the other neo-con lovers and "loyal Bushies" who haunt this blog. (You know I don't listen, watch or read to Fox News or right-wing radio, why do you log on to The Young Turks everyday, when you know you so vehemently disagree with them?) All of you, go right now and live out the rest of your lives in Iraq (no fair hiding in the Green Zone with Maliki), fighting this war until the day you die and trying to fix what Colin Powell says you broke! I'm tired of hearing about how great the war is - go, be one with it! Then you'll be begging for the next President to bring you home after 15 weeks! The soldiers who are there - none of you are fit to shine their shoes. God bless them and bring them home safely.
Sarah at 12:15AM on Apr 11th 2008
42. Sarah - That has got to be the silliest, most ridiculously nonsensical left-wing rant I've ever read. Are you sure you're not really Michael Moore in Drag? You ought to win some sort of special AOL award for creative blogging.
You're obviously very good at stringing together lists of people whom, I suspect, you know next to nothing about ("Dodson"?) except for your silly little, doctrinaire, left wing, cartoonish understanding of a whole bunch of bogeymen who you apparently despise. (Maybe "Dominionists" or "Zionists" or something.) And honestly, what does the late Jerry Falwell have to do with Iraq? I guess any mythical villain will do. Good grief.
At least come up for air once and try to make a couple paragraphs out of your semi-coherent madness. And what in the world is wrong with
disagreeing with Cenk? Are you his little sister or something? When did his AOL blog become sancrosanct? Cenk hasn't received 1 tenth of
1% of the angry responses Dinesh has endured.
And I know it won't penetrate your liberal world-view cocoon, but here's the scorecard on Iraq: 1)Saddam 600,000 confirmed dead, w/the
possibility of up to 2 million dead according to one Iraqi official, with tens, perhaps hundreds of thousands tortured. 2)US War in Iraq: 85,000 dead (according to the UN), most of whom were killed, not by the US military, but by the same kind of thugs who were killing, maiming and
terrorizing Iraqis before we got there.

43. My God we need the draft now. The number of armchair commandos that frequent these sights and blogs. Oh and here's a news flash today. The head of the Veterans Administration is refusing to implement a plan to help wounded vets of this war vate i the incoming election, stating that it would be equivelant to engaging in partisan politics. Way to go Vets, serve this country, shed blood for this country, lose a limb for this country or half your brain, but you can't vote for the next President of this country. Wow what a way to tell the Vets to go F@$#% themselves after protecting our way of life. Gotta love this country. More words from good ole Logan

45. 34. THREE REASONS TO LEAVE IRAQ NOW:
***
Had we not invaded a sovereign nation that had absolutely nothing to do with the attacks of September 11, we would not need to leave. We would not be there in the first place. Do you see how simple things are if you do the right thing?
***
1.Because Cenk and the anti-war lefties want us to.
**
A. Because rational people who are not falling for the ridiculous lies the president insist on shoving down everyone’s throats. Furthermore, we are so stuck there now all this idiot can do is dump it on to the next president.
___
2.Because Iran wants us to.
**
B. Wow, that did not take long; the bushies have already bought that nicely constructive story already. I am no fan of Iran and its leader; however, he was not the one that started this mess.
_______
3.Because al Queda wants us to.
_____________
C. Sure, now that we made it so attractive for them to infiltrate Iraq, and create more mayhem. Saddam may have been the monster that we all knew and hated, maybe even worse than what we have found out about him. However, he and Osama hated each other and there was no Al Queda in Iraq before we invaded Iraq! hmmm......
***
If the enemies of this nation want us to leave now, just maybe we should stay until the country is stable. (What a concept.)
******
Perhaps if we would not have taken our eyes of the real enemy and hunted him down in AFHGANISTAN until we could have killed Osama and his band of Criminals there might be some sort of stability by now. (Wow, what a concept!) To actually “stay the real course” and capture or kill “the real enemy”. Furthermore, did the leader of Iran offer his help to us capture Osama when all this mess began five years ago? Oh, right bush does not talk to the axis of evil!
Gee... what a concept! Has bush ever done anything right in his miserable life??? My guess is, NO!
Oh well,at the end of the day I am just a Democrat and a girl, what do I and my flamboyant ways know from wars and criminals?
