If you think John McCain is a straight shooter on the war, wait till you get a load of the video we found from his speeches on the Senate floor. He now claims that withdrawal is unacceptable and that we must stay in Iraq until it is a viable nation that can police itself. He now says he doesn't care if we stay in Iraq a hundred years.
As you will see below this is exactly the opposite of what he argued in Somalia and Haiti when we had a Democratic president. He demanded withdrawal not in an orderly fashion from those countries, but immediately -- damn the consequences. If you don't believe me, watch for yourself:
These politicians drive me crazy. They're all flip-floppers. Their position on any given issue is directly related to who the president is. If he's in your party, you support him no matter how wrong he is and what kind of a disastrous war he's gotten us into. If he's in the opposite party, you demand withdrawal as soon as possible. How do they get up there and make speeches that are diametrically opposed to what they said before and do it with a straight face?
Now John McCain isn't the only one guilty of this but unlike most other politicians he gets a free-ride in the press. They portray him as a maverick and a straight talker when he is nothing of the sort. Look at the video above, if he was a Democrat he would be called the biggest flip-flopper of all time.

31. Different times, different places, different purposes..even then had Clinton sent the additional equipment requested by the CG.."Blackhawk" would not have happened!!
Our withdrawal was a neagtive mark against US
determination. As usual the mouthpiece for the young jerks is incorrect with this comparison!
Iraq/Iran is the hub for middle East stability!!

32. Did you know?
I didn't know!
How could we?
Did you know that 47 countries' have
Reestablished their embassies in Iraq ?

Currently employs 1.2 million Iraqi people?

That the Iraqi Navy is operational?
They have 5 - 100-foot patrol craft,
34 smaller vessels and a naval infantry regiment.
Did you know
That Iraq ' s Air Force consists of three operational squadrons,
Which includes 9 reconnaissance and 3 US C-130 transport aircraft(under Iraqi operational control) which operate day and night,
And will soon add 16 UH-1 helicopters and 4 Bell Jet Rangers?

WHY DIDN'T WE KNOW?
BECAUSE OUR MEDIA WON'T TELL US!
Instead of reflecting our love for our country,
We get photos of flag burning incidents at Abu Ghraib And people throwing snowballs at the presidential motorcades.
Tragically, the lack of accentuating the positive
In Iraq serves two purposes:
It is intended to undermine the world's perception
Of the United States thus minimizing consequent support;
And it is intended to discourage American citizens.
Above facts are verifiable on the Department of Defense web site.

33. Well all of this rhetoric has me confused! I can't figure out who to vote for. I've always been told that if "you don't vote, don't complain about what happens". These politicians say whatever the place where they are speaking want to hear. I would like to hear the TRUTH for a change. Fat chance.

34. Hey folks don't forget the twin towers next it'll be the Hoover dam or the Golden gate, thier religious books tell them to kill all Jews and infidels and infidels are anyone that is not a Jew. You have to kill em cause there ain't no negotiating so tell the college freshmen throughout the U.S to stop marchin and quit wastin good poster paper and grab a weapon and post. You see when you change your mind when you realize you screwed up it's not always flip floppin, it's tough to predict whats gonna happen so you make adjustments along the way. We had to kill Saddam and his sons and his henchmen and when you go to war people die thats just the way it is. I'm very proud of all the men and women who were and are brave enough to fight and give their lives for our country, Thank you JESUS. Remember the plane that went down in Pennsylvania? During 911 it had a I think a 3rd grade class of children on a field trip and those dogs looked at those innocent children right in their eyes and didn't care they yelled ALLAH!! and comminced to bringing that plane down so ya'll tell me. So you want to negotiate do ya? Read Deauteronomy 20 and see what the Lord tell us to do with these people and you will understand. You can't NEGOTIATE with them wake up kids and pay attention, and stop listening to the Starbucks point of view LOL I do love their coffee though... In CHRIST Dan

35. Would it be useless to point out to Mr. Cenk that Somalia and Haiti are very different situations?
I thought so.
Davidg at 4:34PM on Apr 6th 2008
36. Cenk, it is clear that the 19 per centers would prefer switch from posting about politics and current events to posting about more important topics like, "Beau Bridges or Randy Quaid?"
It would help them maintain their little fantasy existences, the one where dick & bush are demi-gods and the neocon agenda hasn't bankrupted the United States.

37. What a hypocrite you are McCain!!! I am a veteran and you talk out of both sides of your mouth. Your over 20 years in the senate is going to provide a ton of fodder for why you should not be commander and chief. Former majority leader senator Daschle told Obama that running for president now was the best thing and that if he stayed in the senate he would be less viable as a presidential candidate. McCain is showing why he is not the man to lead us. He never lead a squadron as a pilot. He has no excutive experience and he has flip floped all over the place as you will soon find out when all the other tapes and votes come to be exposed from being in the senate. I love his service but he is a dinasaur and not capable of serving as our president!!! Obama in '08!!!
Carroll Johnson at 5:30PM on Apr 6th 2008
38. Just for the record, John McCain's son Jimmy, a Marine, has already served one tour in Iraq and may have to go back. I think it's important to keep that in mind whenever there's a discussion about McCain's stance on the war.
A.C. at 5:45PM on Apr 6th 2008
39. McCain had bombs and slaughter thousand of innocent veitnamese women and children, durig the USA invasion. now he want another 100yrs more wars so he can slaughter more. he is no war hero, this sick old man is a war-criminal. case on him is not close.
VANDAM at 6:11PM on Apr 6th 2008
40. You're an idiot. McCain obviously thought the two situations were different and called for different responses. I noticed you didn't mention his speech recommending that the US leave Lebanon in 1983 - which he delivered during the presidency of a guy called Reagan, whom I think was a Republican. This upends your theory that McCain adjusts his hawkishness according to the party of the President in power.
(Nevermind the speeches McCain gave criticizing the Bush administration's execution of the war over the past few years).
Your conclusions (at least on the bases you cite) are almost too stupid to merit response. But I'm supposed to be writing a paper now, so enjoy.
kraut at 12:30AM on Apr 7th 2008
41. Vet2, thanks for pointing out where our (we the American taxpayers) more than 500 billion dollars have gone(a conservative estimate by the congressional budget office). And as a bonus we also get 4,000 murdered American soldiers and more than 28,000 wounded. But that's not all; let's not forget the untold number of Iraqis killed whose family now have a reason to hate the United States.
Consider: the per capita income of an Iraqi in 1980 (pre Iran/Iraq war when Saddam was our friend) was $3,000 dollars. (It was down to $500 dollars after the first gulf war in 91) Lets quadruple that for inflation and multiply that by the ~25 million iraqis who lived there in 2003. That comes out to be about 300 billion. We could have just paid them to give us thier nonexistant WMDs and become a democratic society. Wait, but then Halliburton and Blackwater don't make any money. But, Joe, your being silly, this isn't about democracy this is about very rich people fighting over money, and anyway you can't just pay people to become a democratic society. Well you can't spread democracy at gun point either. Sorry about going off on a rant, but the point is that Mr. Cenk is dead on. Put that video on after American Idol and let McCain explain himself and watch the back peddling begin.

42. He has very little hypocrisy compared to the Hillary campain and of Borac, or BOROX for that reason. Hillary said everythingto the tee that GW did in 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, as far as Iraq and Saddam. And i support her on those statements and decisions. But now?? LOL, the facts and implimention or war are called a fluid strategy, as war is fluid. Not like liberals who think it is ultimately a video game.
We need to finish Muslim extremist off, unfortunately thats about 80% of there society because that is what is in the koran or Quran teaches, depending on how you like it or follow thru. Another far reaching story and pointless post from Cent, the Muslim Extremist of the Young Turnks on Liberal Funded, Anti-America, anti_republican, anti Bush Air America.
A whole subsitorary of the Democratic House and Senate ayed for by you're tax dllars as an alternative voice to the overwhelming majority of americans. they can not aquire public advertising because thay are so out of touch, they made a plee to the Us Senate to fund them. What a joke.

43. Somolia was no lie, there is an ever powerfull Islamic presence there, adn Sharia law is there. If we would of stayed and fought rather than ran in the 90's. maybe things might not be as bad, adn maybe the middle east/africa would be a little better off. Clinton made us look week and as infidels. And it is no lie as to how bad his policy was there, and we blew it in Bosnia. Took out a leader trying to secure his country from Islamic Militants and the Muslim comunnity. Now Muslims are overrunning the country, causing the same amount of mahem as ever, and we are still there. 13 years later.
So do not expect iraq which is sourrounded by Islam to be so easy to win unless we kill all the Islamic leaders and start from fresh. Not the clinton philosophy of cut an run.
LtCurry 82nd. at 11:48PM on Apr 6th 2008
44. Also there is no strategic concern for the Sudan and Africa. as the Muslim's shoot at Un helicopters, there own army, there own fellow citizens, the red cross, etc. As McCaine stated in Somolia, we went in with too few troops and they needed to be taken out if not enough force is being or will be used. Good try Cent, but wrong, a clip is not the whole story retard. get a new day job please.
