If you think John McCain is a straight shooter on the war, wait till you get a load of the video we found from his speeches on the Senate floor. He now claims that withdrawal is unacceptable and that we must stay in Iraq until it is a viable nation that can police itself. He now says he doesn't care if we stay in Iraq a hundred years.
As you will see below this is exactly the opposite of what he argued in Somalia and Haiti when we had a Democratic president. He demanded withdrawal not in an orderly fashion from those countries, but immediately -- damn the consequences. If you don't believe me, watch for yourself:
These politicians drive me crazy. They're all flip-floppers. Their position on any given issue is directly related to who the president is. If he's in your party, you support him no matter how wrong he is and what kind of a disastrous war he's gotten us into. If he's in the opposite party, you demand withdrawal as soon as possible. How do they get up there and make speeches that are diametrically opposed to what they said before and do it with a straight face?
Now John McCain isn't the only one guilty of this but unlike most other politicians he gets a free-ride in the press. They portray him as a maverick and a straight talker when he is nothing of the sort. Look at the video above, if he was a Democrat he would be called the biggest flip-flopper of all time.

46. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Somalia and Haiti were also done with UN approval. Iraq blatantly was not.

48. Poor Stank, so blinded by desperation, he's dumb enough to admit that he doesn't know the difference between Iraq, Somalia and Haiti. Could he find any of the three on a map?

49. what do you mean he is a hypocrite. the fact that during those campaigns in those countries there was no need for the US to stay in those countries, there was not an immediate threat to our country, but in Iraqi we there is a definite funnel to terrorism. The fact that Clinton was the initaitor of 911 because of his sending a cruise missile to kill someone (but not Bin Laden) You Dems are so into point out the little facts that you seem to find and miss the whole picture. Instead of saying its the Rep fault or the Dem fault it should be that both should really look to work together, and forget about the differences of both sides because we as americans are caught in the fight and our economy is down, we pay to much for health insurance, gas, housing markets are out of control.

50. I want to make random useless comments, too!
If only GORE were President like the majority of the country wanted him to be. This whole mess probably would never have happened.

51. I would think you would be smarter than to compare those to Iraq. But, then if you are a democrat I can understand your naivete.

I am on your side..but a jackass is the one a horse mates with to create a mule=hybrid. But that aside, you're on the right track.

Strados, it wasn't that "we" (the US) had UN approval, but that both Haiti and Somalia were UN OPERATIONS that we happened to be a small part of. Big difference between that and Iraq.

55. Clinton refused to equip our troops with the equipment that the Commanders in Somalia requested.
Together with Secy of Defense Aspin the decision was made to keep a low profile. Neither Clinton nor Aspin had the slightest idea of how our military was to be used since both had always avoided service. McCain knew the consequences of sending a small underarmed force into hostile territory and had the foresight to recognize the consequences. Had Aspin and Bush sent a properly equipped force into Somalia with a defined goal then McCain would have probably supported it.

56. The sad part in this whole debaucle is that our governing body and the American public knows that this is wrong and still no one has started impeachment proceedings.
In the beginning, we were there to find WMDs. Even after countless reports that these things did not exist in Iraq and at the risk of the life of one of our CIA Operatives through public exposure, we stayed.
Then there was the search for Bin Laden. When the public started questioning why the search was put on the back burner, we always get the same answer, "Sadam was a bad man".
And now we're up in arms about McCain changing his mind every time the wind blows. First he was against the torture we were inflicting upon the POWs, then he said it was necessary and that it wasn't as bad as what he went through as a POW. Well, I'm still waiting on the verification of the 2 witnesses that submitted him for this act of heroism. But, this is the same hero that divorced his first wife over a car accident.
Of course he's in agreement now that we stay in Iraq. Operation Bond Steel is almost complete and we need to secure that area for their master plan.
The current administration has bullied and run roughshod over this country through fear and intimidation. It has spent millions spying on certain people to obtain info to get them to tow the line.
Yes, McCain flip flops. No. It is not all due to his declining age, but he too, has to tow the line. Remember, he fell out of favor with the Bush Crime Family when he spoke against the torture in the black prsion. Now Bush has endorsed him. He's just another doddering old fool they can control while they finish up the last of their "master plan", fleece America for everything they can while they're there and control the world.
Just remember, Bush says he's going to bring democracy to the free world. It isn't democracy when you force others to accept your way of life as their own. McCain will be no different.
ps..I wore that uniform proudly, but I can't say I'd be willing to do it again under this regime.

57. Comparing the missions of Somalia/Haiti to Iraq is beyond "reaching". This is all you democrats have? If this is it then you might as well just give up already.
Bingo...the infantile mind of this unknown is notable. How...why did he get a gig on AOL? How does he keep it? Who is he?

60. Cenk, don't you know by now that the media is making dems look bad because they are deliberaletly distorting what McCain said regarding staying in Iraq 100 years. I don't need to repeat it because you libs already know what he meant but you choose to keep trying to make McCain look like a "warmonger". You idiots don't realize that the really astute people know that you dems are desparate to stop McCain since he is rising in the polls as your candidates are sinking lower in the mud. Nice try but we will see come election time candidate measures up to the job and I am sure it will not be Hillary or Obam. Too bad you dems always have such lousy candidates.
