If you think John McCain is a straight shooter on the war, wait till you get a load of the video we found from his speeches on the Senate floor. He now claims that withdrawal is unacceptable and that we must stay in Iraq until it is a viable nation that can police itself. He now says he doesn't care if we stay in Iraq a hundred years.
As you will see below this is exactly the opposite of what he argued in Somalia and Haiti when we had a Democratic president. He demanded withdrawal not in an orderly fashion from those countries, but immediately -- damn the consequences. If you don't believe me, watch for yourself:
These politicians drive me crazy. They're all flip-floppers. Their position on any given issue is directly related to who the president is. If he's in your party, you support him no matter how wrong he is and what kind of a disastrous war he's gotten us into. If he's in the opposite party, you demand withdrawal as soon as possible. How do they get up there and make speeches that are diametrically opposed to what they said before and do it with a straight face?
Now John McCain isn't the only one guilty of this but unlike most other politicians he gets a free-ride in the press. They portray him as a maverick and a straight talker when he is nothing of the sort. Look at the video above, if he was a Democrat he would be called the biggest flip-flopper of all time.

62. How is the hypocrisy of a politician shocking or surprising?
Before become just a cheap whore who is willing to do whatever it takes to become president McCain was in my opinion one of the good politicians who may not have always been on the popular side of issues, however, tried his best to do right by the American people.
I WANT TO DIRECT THE REST OF MY COMMENT TO ALL DEMOCRATS AND ALL THOSE WHO HAVE HAD ENOUGH WITH THIS WAR AND WITH THE BUSHIES WAY OF GOVERNING!
We must take the fight up with McCain, whether you are a Clinton supporter or an Obama supporter, McCain is whom you want to see defeated period end of story!
Take a page from the GOP most of these bloggers were knocking McCain down and wanted nothing to do with him. Furthermore, do not forget what the right wing media threaten to do if he was the Republican nominee, Ms Ann Coulter came out and said she would support Hillary. Now the man can do no wrong even when he is dead wrong on many issues.
The arguments between fellow Democrats are counterproductive and it has to end. Do not lose sight of the fact that we have the better candidates. If we do not end the infighting, John McCain will win the Presidency in November.
Therefore, unless you are satisfied with at least four more years of an unwanted war, a president whom by his own admissions knows very little about the economy, I suggest we unite as anti-McCain Americans and support the Democratic Candidate whichever one that person will be.

67. I will not now or ever question the patriotism of Sen. McCain. Still in all we have seen time and time again that those who come to Washington to change it are more often changed by it. Yet, the simpleton remarks here are truely sad, I would expect a more highbrow exchange and day in and out all I can read are some of the most childish and stupid namecalling I have seen, or should I say Read in my years. That sad part is that there are valid points to be made and are being made, yet the points are rendered impotent by sandbox name-calling. Now to be sure I have looked up some things on my own, and have followed the directions of some of the more mature bloggers and have found out things about the Clintons' and Obama that I did not know, and like wise I found propaganda and lies that would make "Tokyo Rose" and Goebbels feel like rookies at their chosen professions. The point is I think, that if you valued the lives of the troops over the people of other countries we occupy invade or whatever, shouldn't that still apply today and yes if 18 men in Somalia was cause for McCain and the less honorable neo-cons to call for a pullout, then 4000+ lost in Iraq should merit the same response, but that's if we all were fair minded and honorable and not jaded by mainstream media and cable t.v. But hey, that does call for free thought, so we'll stick with the baby steps for now. More words from good ole Logan

69. POsts #64 and #65 a JOKE
One person behind stupid neg remarks, a Ted Sampley, was on a campaign in 2000 against JOHN KERRY and JOHN McCAIN, is an effort to discredit both of them in favor of Bush.
These two posts are anti Democrat and anti McCain and Pro Bush.
Another person blasting McCain also attack Kerry, a Jerome Corsi, a known anti Jew anti catholic nut case. He to was out to discredit KERRY and McCAIN in 2000, in favor of Bush.

70. I cannot stand to hear your voice. I wish I was a better man but the site of you sickens me. Whenever I see a person that looks like they are of middle east descent I think about the Americans that died to protect us regardless of their political beliefs. You have no right to voice your opinion. I can only hope that the rest of America will wake up and run people like you out of these borders.

71. Cenk, "ALL POLITICIANS ARE FLIP FLOPPERS" And it appears to me you select the conservative candidates to get on the soap box about.
I read your blog to see which REP> you are blasting next.
??Are you trying to be the male counterpart to Ann Coulter?
Change your mind, new / more information etc. is understandable. Bias and misinformation is not.

72. mccain is no independent ! he is sucking up to conservatives whom he supposedly disagrees with more and more everyday. abortion, john ? immigration ?
the only justice is that they know he is a fake, and hate him.
if only some of my democrat friends would read about him,and understand how dangerous he is.
the really scary trend right now,is for closet-racists to say they would rather vote for him than barack -when hillary drops out....solely because he is white.they won't say that of course, but when pressed can't come up with any rational, issue based reason they would choose john over barack.
i'm a 56 yo white male, and the possibility of barack winning the presidency-which is very real, makes me believe again in this great nation.
lets be all we can be,instead of what the haters would like us to be to keep them in power.

75. Good video! There is no denying that John McCain is a liberal in many ways. Most liberals love the fact that we have stayed in Bosnia and hate the fact that we have stayed in Iraq and Afghanistan. You forgot to mention Cenk.
The truth is we got our heads handed to us in Somalia because we had a transition from George Bush Senior to Bill Clinton as our fearless leader. Our mission there was to ensure food was being distributed to starving peasants not nation building. When it was obvious that the majority of those we wanted to help did not want our help, we left. John McCain is not an Imperialist and he did not want the United States to act as one.
We all have heard McCain say he would have handled the war in Iraq much differently than President Bush. A comparison of McCain's speeches reflecting his desire to avoid Imperialism should not be compared to his speeches regarding how to end the Iraq war. That is Apples to Oranges.
Let's face it Goober, if we get out now the political atmosphere is going to change over there. Any change, short of OPEC dropping the price of oil to $80.00 a barrel, is going to increase the price of oil. Even a liberal pacifist like you must understand that $5.00 a gallon fuel translates to critically high prices for every other commodity, good and product. It is the poor people who get hurt first. Did you know that the economy is now so bad that illegal immigrants are going home? What will a two dollar increase in fuel costs do to the poor?
One thing you have to realize about being an American citizen Uygur; you are going to be asked to sacrifice by going in harm's way so that the rest of us lucky slobs get a free ride. We fight to keep the world free and then foot the bill, which ain't free! Understand! Its not pretty but that's the way it is.
I spent my time in hell - Vietnam 1968 & 1969. How about sweet cheeks? How much time have you spent on the battle line?
