John McCain recently received the endorsement of Reverend John Hagee. McCain said he was very proud to get that endorsement and just last week reiterated on ABC that he was glad to have it. Now, look at the unbelievable and hate-filled sermon of Reverend Hagee below:
How do people get away with this kind of perversion of Christianity? At least, I hope it's a perversion. Because if that's what people think Christianity truly stands for, that's very scary. You can watch the longer version of this sermon here to get the full context. Trust me, it doesn't get any better, it only gets worse.
If other Christians don't stand up against people like Hagee, what does that say about Christianity?
And what does it say about John McCain that he is proud to be associated with this guy?

46. You keep acting as if the John Hagee/jeremiah Wright comparison is actually a valid one, when anyone with an intellectual honesty at all can clearly see that it is not. The last time I checked, all McCain did is accept this guy's endorsement - NOT attend his church for twenty years and accept him into his family essentially.

47. I really wish that this sorry excuse for a "journalist" read all his comments so I could inform him of his idiocy personally. To all of you that find any of his absurdly bias drivel informative or poignant, I sincerely hope that you will rethink your decision and stop reading this pathetic man's stories.
To Mr. Uygur: If you are going to be so nonsensically bias the least you could do as a journalist, and more importantly as a professional, is to TRY to make it seem objective. I have no idea how many times you have tried to bring up John McCain's endorsement by various right wing religious figures that do indeed make somewhat bold statements. No one is listening to you because it is a non story. McCain is receiving endorsements that, of course, he says he is proud of: he's a politician. It's politically harmful to snub someone over a simple endorsement. His connection to these clergymen is one of a familiar acquaintance. Yet, when Rev. Wright is discussed at all, you immediately fly to his defense, as clearly hypocritical as that is. You wrote an entire article entitled "Rev. Wright: So what?" (which if you other readers want a laugh open in a new window next to this article and compare). Yet, Rev. Wright has a very direct and long lasting personal connection with Barack Obama, and certainly is much more directly connected to him than Rev. Hagee is to McCain. Obama was also for the longest time unwilling to denounce Rev. Wright or his practices. Even once he did denounce him, it was half-hearted and contrived at best. This suggests very obviously that whether or not Rev. Wright or his opinions will directly influence Obama's actions (no one can say that for sure either way at this point) they certainly hold some form of influence on him, and it would be foolish to suggest otherwise. You do not fear or resent having to distance yourself from someone if they do not have some form of influence and importance to you. You do not return to the same place of worship for 20 years if it touts beliefs that you do not at least to some extent share.
But, I digress. I do not wish to throw the heat back onto the Rev. Wright situation as it would be beating a dead horse at this point (and I unlike Uygur am able to realize when I am just puffing hot air). People know what there is to know about it and they have already formed their opinions. What I do wish to point out is the pathetic lack of professionalism seen daily from this blogger, and the hypocritical stories he writes, that *gasp* strangely seem to always slant immensely in favor of his favored candidate and party. If you want to simply toot Obama's horn and find every little smear you can about other candidates and attempt to blow it out of proportion then so be it, but have the intelligence to do it in at least a vaguely journalistic fashion.
You reek of amateurism, ignorance, and contradiction Uygur. If you're going to continue blogging at least do the intelligent members of society a favor and take it to a more fitting medium. I recommend Myspace. That's where the other amateur people write articles where they cry about what's just not fair in their lives and try and point fingers and blame elsewhere to make themselves feel better.
A sidenote: I am not a McCain supporter. Nor am I a Clinton supporter. Nor am I an Obama supporter. I find the candidate pool unfortunately shallow this election. I point this out only because this was not an attack on Obama or a defense of McCain. It was a statement of contempt for what passes for journalism and professionalism this day in age.

----------------------------------
Anyone with, "intellectual honesty" can see that the comparison is totally valid.
But then, anyone with, "intellectual honesty" would subtract points from each of the candidates for claiming religious affiliations at all.
Mc Cain actually switched denominations, becoming a Baptist, to garner the endorsements of religious lunatics like John Hagee.
Hillary Clinton belongs to a secretive organization within federal and state governments, known as, "The Family" and even as the, "Christian Mafia."
Barak Obama went to a church with a controversial pastor. A pastor who has been heavily involved in politics and whose support has been sought by a number of political and public figures.
"Intellectual honesty," would demand that anyone claiming it, denounce the infulence of religion in politics at all.

49. Please. If you do not like what the guy is saying, why not just say that? When you misrepresent someone's statements you present yourself as uninformed at best and discredit yourself.
While I am not a "fan" of the pastor in question, he is presenting valid NT positions and presuming some basic awareness of Christian teaching regarding responsibility and commitment. (Admittedly, one would hope he might do so in a kinder spirit!)
If a man won't work (not can't work!), then it is wrong to perpetuate that irresponsibility. Is it not sensible and right to say, "We won't support your behavior of taking advantage of others"? The Bible makes it clear that the people of God are to care for the poor. It does not follow that we should enable those who persist in irresponsible behavior (and so take advantage both of those who work and of those who truly are in need!).
Further, the call to commitment is that of identifying what matters most, and living in light of that. "Death before compromise" is a statement not of terrorism, just the opposite! It is not "(your) death before I compromise my values", but "(my) death before I compromise my values".
By your "interpretation", Patrick Henry's claim would then have meant, "give me liberty, or I will kill you"!
I have read some of your posts and am concerned not so much about your politics, but about your approach to differing positions. I have read misportrayals of views you apparently do not like, seemingly to make a political point. This is disappointing and disturbing, primarily in terms of "what sort of person would misconstrue the positions of those he disagrees with?". The only answers seem to be, one who is either slow of understanding or one who is not very honest.

51. I am an evangelical Pentecostal protestant. Hagee shound not say anything about eating. He and his kids are morbidly overweight. But I guess if you go by his logic, if you work more or harder, you should be able to eat more.

53. Why does AOL have this moron on their service? He is the worst journalist I have ever heard - A total waste of space.
Cenk thinks this is the same as Obama/Wright? It just proves how desparate the left is becoming now that the wheels are falling off their savior's campaign. Once they (libs) find out how bad Obama really is they will go running back to Hillary and beg forgiveness. I hope she tells them where to stick it!

55. Can you say: Obama Bin Lyin
He want us to believe that he or his wife never heard the racist and bigoted sermons of Rev. J-Wrong!!!
What new epiphany was revealed in the Rev. J-Wrong press-club tirades that now has the banal Obama doing the old 180?
The consensus is that Obama is lying about his Christianity just to get elected.
http://news.aol.com/political-machine/2008/04/14/hot-seat-is-obama-a-fake-christian/
I believe the recent revelations by Obama denouncing Rev. J-Wrong to be fake as well.
Can you say: Political Expediency
Paul Sparcello at 6:28PM on May 2nd 2008
56. Paul it is obvious that you want it both ways, Obama the Islamic adherent and Obama the radical/racist Christian. The more you post, the more you come off as a Klanner or neo-nazi.

57. adendum to post 54, yet you have no problem with McCain pandering to Hagee and accepting his endorsement. So Sir, your objectivity seems distorted.

58. Bodulus - #29,30 - Yeah, you're right. Billy Graham and Rev. Wright. Two peas in a pod. Both of them preaching about conspiracies, politics and race. Yeah, that's it. Uh, excuse me? Hello? You living on planet earth?
Billy Graham the guy who never, ever took a position on politics in public but was a friend, confidant and adviser to every President, regardless of political party? That Billy Graham? I can tell you spent lots of time doing research.
You are entitled to your own opinion, but not your own facts, sir. Billy Graham and Rev. Wright are light years apart. They're not even in the same universe. The next time Billy Graham preaches politics from the pulpit will be the first time. Your bias is demonstrable.

59.
Can we all say: Ignorance is bliss? Because it appears that, we have a country filled with blissful Zombies.
Can you say: We are so damn scared that a “Black” man will be our new president we simply do not know what to do with our hypocritical, racist, ignorant Lilly white butts?
Therefore, I will say to all those who persist and continue to try to portrait Senator Obama, as a Muslim, a fake Christian, or a terrorist is old and tired and the only stupid “crap” you ignorant Zombies have to hold on too. In the mean time back at the ranch, April was a very deadly month for our troops. In fact, on of our finest was killed this past week after serving his “SEVENTH TOUR”! Nevertheless, Zombies let us continue to discuss a crazy Pastor and blame the man who is trying to change things for the betterment of our country.
I can understand the mind-less crap coming from the Zombies on the right, however, when I hear some of the Democrats catching Republicanitis, I know I am trapped in an inferno of A-HOLES!

60. You are wrong yet again young turd...Mccain didnt set in this guys church for TWENTY YEARS. Then proceed to defend his outragous comments...Then turn around and denounce those very same comments. YOU CANNOT COMPARE THE TWO. You can't control who endorses you. Otherwise...didn't the leader of Hamas just endorse Senator Obama? You can't have it both ways.
