69. Is this a legitimate issue? Yes. Going after Obama for the words of Jeremiah Wright made this an issue, if we are to be equitable.

Hagee is just one of many who have damned America under the banner of Jesus Christ, and I have not found yet a single congregation that does not damn someone or something. Obama was correct when he said the most segregated hour of American life is on Sunday morning, yet the pews are still filled.

For a man to sit in the pews for twenty years, does not say he agrees with what his pastor might say all the time. The underlying assumption fails to take into account that each of us have minds of our own and can take what we agree with . . . discard what we don't. Are we saying that all Catholics condone molestation of children by the clergy? Are we saying that Clinton should either leave Methodism or abandon her support of gays? I could easily cite example after example to support the inequity over the Wright issue.

McCain did not need to sit in the church to know what Hagee stood for. That Hagee was not silenced and his endorsement was accepted says McCain is equally as guilty as if he DID sit in the pews.

Fair is fair, and if you are going to hold one accountable, you have to hold all accountable including yourself. Failure to do so is hypocrisy . . . do as I say, not as I do . . . and anyone who understands what Jesus was about would know this was His biggest pet peave.
