Hilary Clinton has lost!!!!!! It's over!
It's been over for a long time now, but Senator Clinton has managed to hoodwink the media into playing the expectations game -- where people's expectations are more relevant that the reality of who is winning more states and delegates. But reality has a way of catching up with you.
I looked at the number of delegates Clinton and Obama had before the Ohio and Texas contest on March 4th and how many they have now. What do you think the result was? The media has been talking non-stop about Hillary's momentum and how Obama has been stumbling. So, that must mean she has really closed his lead, right?
Well, the reality is that Senator Clinton has lost 53 delegates since then to Barack Obama. He has widened his delegate lead to 155 delegates. She has absolutely no chance of winning this race. None.
How much clearer does this have to be before we call it what it is? She has no momentum. She does not have enough pledged delegates or superdelegates. She will not win the delegate race or the popular vote. She can't go on much longer like this. She will have to face reality very, very soon.
The only question that remains is whether she will be pushed out the door by the rest of the Democratic Party or whether she leaves voluntarily. Stay tuned for how that turns out.

It is also quite clear that there not enough delegates that Obama can win in the remaining 5 states that have to vote. With under a total of 200 delegates, that would work out, the it is going, to about 100 delegates for both Obama and Hillary. That leaves both of them short of enough delegates to win before the Convention.
Obama should quit because he cannot win? Then why should Hillary.

2. CENK,,ONCE AGAIN YOU HAVE JUMPED THE GUN. OBAMA AND HIS BAND OF COHORTS HAVE TO BE KIDDING THEMSELVES IF THEY THINK THAT THEY CAN WIN THE WHITE HOUSE. VAST INEXPERIENCE, MUSLIM UPBRINGING,AND HIS LACK OF SUPPORT FROM THE MAIN WASHINGTON LOBBYISTS WILL BE HIS DEMISE. ALL THE HOOTING AND HOLLERING FROM THE LEFT-WING MEDIA WON'T HELP HIS CAUSE. MCCAIN WILL LEAVE THEM ALL IN THE DUST. HAVEN'T YOU FIGURED THAT OUT YET???

3. In spite of Obama's lead, he doesn't have enough delegates. This is going to the convention and the Democrats will probably be having race riots. And Howard Dean, of all people, will be exhorting everyone to be calm. Beautiful.

4. If Obama becomes President, won't maybe half of his close relatives be Muslims? Aunts, Uncles, Brother, sisters, cousins by the dozens etc,.
Is America ready for that close of ties to Muslims in the White House along with the Religious Left.

5. It's Hillary, not Hilary.
It's been fascinating to watch the party that once treated the Clintons like American royalty come to the realization that they are no different than any other politicians. It's equally as fascinating to see the Clintons' reaction to their change in status.
The Democrats are going to have to push her out. She's not about to leave on her own. She believes it's her destiny. She's not about to sacrifice her own goals in the interest of party unity. Anyone who has been watching the Clintons over the years shouldn't be and most likely isn't surprised by this.
So I'm glad to see this is going to go on a bit longer. It's the only interesting part of this election cycle.

6. Hilary needs to quit now. She lacks the judgement of a leader. She is flip flopping with FL and MICH votes and she has forgotten the rules of the game which she helped to design by agreeing in the 1st place that those votes will not count. She can't feel the pulse of the world outside America with harsh language like 'Obilterating Iran'.She could not take care of Bill, she can't take care of you!

7. Cenk,
Your 100% right, 0% wrong!!!! Looking at the comments to this blog, you sure fired up the right wingers. That tells me one thing, they're SCARED for November. As they should be because they're gonna get their asses handed to them!

Unfortunately, this , in the end will become the Clinton Legacy. Not eight years of economic growth, not an increase in standard of living for many. Not even the sex scandals or investigations. The legacy will be what took place during this primary fight and its long term impact on the Democratic party.

9. Matt - Your party is imploding, big guy. Actually you're right. We are scared that Barrack Obama, the radical socialist is going to get elected by semi-literate, adoring post-teenagers who are so busy fainting and so captivated by the idea that he is black that they have no idea what Obama's actual policy positions are.
This man will absolutely destroy what's left of our economy through onerous and ever more confiscatory taxes. Take whatever McCain doesn't know about the economy and multiply it by three and that's what Barrack Obama knows. And foreign policy is even worse. This man thinks he's going to bluff his way to success as President. Well, good luck with that. And God help us if he gets elected.

10. Dave, Dave, Dave...
None of that icky confusing stuff in your second paragraph matters.
What matters is that once we elect a black man and pull our troops out of everywhere and the entire Bush administration faces the firing squad during half-time at the 2009 Superbowl, the whole world will love us and we'll all live happily ever after in a greener, more eco-friendly world.
Oh and everyone will get unlimited texting for free!

11. Cenk you and Air America are "beyond over" too, but yet you keep blogging and blabbing.
So what's your point?
Davidg at 9:51AM on May 7th 2008
12. Bob - Wow. Since you put it that way, I can't wait for the Obama Administration to start. What was I thinking? It'll be nothing but peace and love as far as the eye can see. (All except for that firing-squad stuff. Oh, well.)
Dave at 10:13AM on May 7th 2008
13. Cenk,
Once and for all. Do you like Obama, or are you simply trying to be Barry Goldwater going to the White House in August of 1974 to tell Nixon that it's over?
Here's why Hillary should fight on.
I was listening to Dick Armey, former House Majority Leader, on CNBC yesterday. He explained why Hillary would be the better nominee for the Democrats.
Hillary is an adult. Obama is a kid. Hillary wants to be President, because she has definite plans that she wants to execute (even though Armey disagrees with almost all of them). Obama has no plans; he just wants to be President because he wants to President.
Hillary has created a process for creating policy. Obama will creating policy by sitting down with the Cabinet and singing "Kubaya."
Hillary wants to be Commander-in-Chief. Obama wants to be Sociologist-in-Chief.
You don't have to like Dick Armey to understand that he was an astute politician and is an astute observer. He views on Hillary and Obama are accurate.
I would add that Hillary has been through the process and knows how to avoid the landmines. Obama has been stepping on landmines left and right, such as Rev. Wright, rural people are bitter, Tony Rezko. etc.
Remember that Lincoln was a compromise nominee of the GOP in 1860, and that the only reason he got the nod was that the senior staff of the Chicago Tribune ran around the convention hall, the Wig Wam, in Chicago talking up Lincoln.

14. Have any of you Barak-haters ever stopped to think that maybe, just maybe, having a president with some Muslim heritage might actually EASE tensions with some of the Muslims in the world that hate and plot to kill us? Rather than thinking that he is some "terrorist in disguise" (which is a completely idiotic and paranoid delusion), consider that he might actually improve our relations with the middle east. Who would Muslims hate more - McCain, Hillary, or Obama? Which of the candidates would most likely enrage them to the point of attacking us again? Probably McCain, because he's going to continue killing terrorists and other radicals. They'd probably hate Hillary almost as much....and certainly wouldn't respect her (Muslims don't believe women should show their faces, let alone lead a nation). I would think that they'd hate Obama the least. I'm sure they'd still hate him (he's American), but maybe his Muslim heritage would win him some points and ease their ire against him/us. Just a thought.
