Clay Aiken at Benihana
Clay Aiken is a longtime devotee of Benihana's. We spoke a lot about the Claymate phenomenon, which extends to Japan, where fans naturally are called Claysians. (Fans in Kuala Lumpur are Maclaysians, which sounds a little fast food-y.)
Much of our chat, which included a discussion of Pan-Claysian cuisine, didn't make it into the video below. Still I hope you enjoy...

91. Consider selling the whole video, I think there are a lot of us out here who would purchase it. I loved that Clay knew the definition of omnivore-Gee I wonder how many people in the music industry could answer that question. Probably the same number that can actually sing.

92. I burst out laughing. Thanks for a "real" conversation. Clay should try the edamame again with someone a little more versed in it's appeal.
Love the CD. Best thing yet from him. So personal and private yet so open and accessable. Thanks!

93. Really fun interview--Thanks Mo! Made me hungry. I love Clay's new CD--not only is he a delightful man to watch eat and hear laugh, he sings amazingly. Thanks for sharing your lunch with Clay with us!

94. What a hoot!!
My daughter (who knows that I love Clay) made me come watch. We laughed so hard together ! ! Just fun to have a match for Clay's wit. Benihaha's should be paying you for this.
Guess I will need to watch this blog more closely.
Thank you!!

95. Mo- Great interview! I must confess I’m not big on American Idol singers (though they do serve a good purpose in that they remind me to test the battery in my smoke alarm).
That said, your interview showed Clay Aiken as a genuinely nice guy with a good sense of humor—your comment about his fans not having opposable thumbs to cast a vote for him was hilarious! In my opinion, he never sounded better (which of course was partly because of you!)

96. "All Clay fans are not middle aged women, menopausal women!"
Huh? When did Clay say this? I watched 3 times and he never said anything like this.
Hilarious interview.

97. Mo,
Seriously, with the current crisis in Myanmar, if you could persuade the-powers-that-be that the outtakes could be used as a fund raising tool for relief efforts including UNICEF, I can assure you that the nomadic omnivore a/k/a as Claymates, Clay fans and Claynation, would make donations that would make anyone proud. Consider it please?

98. Mo, I've never left a comment for you before, but this clip was too funny not to. You two guys have chemestry. In Georgia eating dirt is a life style?? The Clay fans are nomadic?? I've never seen an interview be more like a comedy skit than this was.

99. That was hilarious!! I loved the whole spin of the interview......one of the best yet!!!! At least if we are all in "sync", it means we aren't all past menopause. LOLOL

100. That was a great interview! I was laughing my head off!

101. I got so caught up about cycles I forgot to say that this was a great interview, Mo. Y'all were extremely funny but I think that y'all missed the egg twirling in the air. Thankfully I had already eaten dinner so you didn't make me hungry.

102. psbintl,
Don't you feel stupid? Get a sense of humor, will ya?
Bonnie at 8:05PM on May 9th 2008
103. Mo, you and Clay are funny guys. I'd love to hear the rest of your chat.
Pegi at 8:05PM on May 9th 2008
104. One of the most refreshing and entertaining interviews I have seen in quite a while. WTG MO! Thanks Clay, from one of your omnivours...Kel

105. This interview is absolutely priceless: Clay's reaction when Mo suggested all the female claymates' cycles were 'in sync'(Clay's eupemism)..was ..again...priceless. I could watch him and listen to his spontaneous laugh forever....He is definitely NOT used to discussing his fans from this perspective.
Yes, Clay's new Cd is awesome ....have played it so many times already...with another thousand plays to go.
Thanks Mo...well done...obviously you picked the best parts to show us....love the way Clay's fork appeared out of nowhere......lol
