Clay Aiken at Benihana
Clay Aiken is a longtime devotee of Benihana's. We spoke a lot about the Claymate phenomenon, which extends to Japan, where fans naturally are called Claysians. (Fans in Kuala Lumpur are Maclaysians, which sounds a little fast food-y.)
Much of our chat, which included a discussion of Pan-Claysian cuisine, didn't make it into the video below. Still I hope you enjoy...

107. Thanks for a great interview with Clay. He seems like he'd be fun to hang out with.
Joan at 8:42PM on May 9th 2008
108. Mo, I didn't know you before, but you've just won a fan. That was silly--and as he did in Spamalot, Clay does silly superbly. You two were a riot. Loved it. Thanks for giving us a great interview and not the same 'ol same 'ol. Other reporters should take a page from your book. TOO Cool!

109. Great turnout! I had no idea Mr. Aiken was still riding the wave. I guess it's because one has to flash their hoo-ha to get in the papers these days.
That egg trick was interesting, and the zucchini looked pretty good. But you won't find me in a Benihana anytime soon. In case anyone was wondering. ha
Kate, thanks for the well-wishes ;) Happy Mom's Day to you!

111. This is the best interview yet. It was real and funny. Clay has a great sense of humor as do you.
When can we get 5 more minutes with Clay and Mo?
Karen at 9:12PM on May 9th 2008
112. Psbntl...you have misinterpreted what Clay said. I agree with Miss Thang, nothing negative was ever said about Clay's fans, their gender or their ages. It was a funny interview and Clay was enjoying himself. Lighten up, hon. I loved the interview!

113. Mo,
I've loved ya on "Iron Chef", and the "I Love the..." Series!
THANK YOU for this totally awesome and hilarious interview!!!
Two funny guys... add me to list of people that would LOVE to see the entire interview!!!

114. This "interview" is a real keeper, I'll watch it over and over....no questions that make the interviewer look like a clueless talking head who did no prep at all.... just a couple of guys hanging out, acting like regular people...no pretending, or staged responses....Clay's very perceptive about a majority of his fans, and lauging at ourselves, like Clay often does about himself, is a healthy way to live.... Thank you so much to Mo & Clay for sharing this, and for giving me a reason to smile today
Laura at 9:16PM on May 9th 2008
115. Can we have another interview .... maybe at a different restaurant .... or, heck, maybe at Benihana's again.
Maybe you & Clay could just get together weekly to talk about stuff .... try new restaurants ....
Linda at 9:18PM on May 9th 2008
116. Mo, this has to be the funniest, most entertaining interview ever! You two are a hoot! Step into my kitchen for your next interview with Clay....I'll do Italian!
Micki at 9:41PM on May 9th 2008
117. MO, that was a fantastic interview of our dear Clay. You both were hilarious talking about Claymates and their 'cycle', hehehe!!! This is like a random interview of his everyday normal life and I'm loving it!!! Now I obviously know that he can't eat with chopsticks, and he pour soy sauce in his food, and he loves to drink that red smoothie thing, and last but not least, he laughs a lot when eating.....yes!!! Go Clay go!!! Mo, congratulations on this very "eatertaining" interview!!!!
claysol at 9:46PM on May 9th 2008
118. I loved this interview! It cracked me up. Clay has such a great sense of humor! My mother is Japanese, so it made it even that much more enjoyable! Thanks for sharing, Mo!
Clay's CD is absolutely amazing! The songs and his voice are beautiful. I wish everyone could hear him sing. He sings with so much heart and soul and touches so many people.

119. This was such an adorable interview. And to actually get to see Clay eat was a rare treat. This was so relaxed and off the cuff. It made for some entertaining stuff. You two were so funny and both quick witted. I've watched this several times and have had to send it to others to view.
I too would love to see the whole interview.
Thanks for such a wonderful interview.
