According to the AFP, the California Supreme Court today overturned the ban on same-sex marriage, calling domestic partnerships a poor substitute for marriage:In an opinion that analysts say could have nationwide implications for the issue, the seven-member panel voted 4-3 in favor of plaintiffs who argued that restricting marriage to men and women was discriminatory.
There's a precedent for California starting a domino effect. David Cruz, a law professor at the University of Southern California and an expert in constitutional law, says in the AFP article:
"In the 20th century California was the first state to strike down laws against inter-racial marriage. They did that 19 years before the US Supreme Court got around to it."
So, soon (er, in 19 years) we could be a nation that grants gay couples the same rights as straight ones. How does it feel?

1. It doesn't bother me one bit. Last I checked, heterosexuals haven't done such a great job with marriage, with the divorce rate over 50%.
Where were the consrevatives in the 1970's and 1980's, when the divorce rate in this country skyrocketed? I will tell you - they cared not one bit. Only when gay folks started demanding equal rights did they start screaming about 'the sanctity of marriage.' Some would call that hypocritical - and they would be correct.

2. Fools are in the California Judiciary! History has shown what happens when homosexuality dominates in a culture. Rome was sacked and nearly wiped out by "barbarians." Why, because the Roman population had shrunk dramatically due to 2 things: abortion and homosexuality! Maybe they should have called the Romans, "barbarians." Any culture that supports and attempts to legitimize abortion and homosexual relations is truly barbaric.

3. This ruling is nonsensical, given what marriage is. Marriage is the legally binding life-long contract between two sexual partners that exists strictly because the sexual activity produces children who require long-range nurture and education.
America is full of idiots who don't even know what makes the "marriage" relationship distinct from all other human relationships. The procreation of the citizenry is what makes "marriage" unique among all human relationships. The long-range aspect of the "marriage contract" arises from the right children have to be nurtured into adulthood by the sexual partners that created them.
Likewise, the state has an interest in protecting and preserving the machinery that creates and nurtures the citizenry of which it is comprised.

There also gay people who have children, and have partners who want to adopt. So, for the person who thinks gay marriage is unneccessary because gay couples don't have children, you are now informed that you are not clear on the concept. When you think about it, the kids are the ones who are punished when marriage is denied.

There are sexual demons that are associated with people being Gay. A lot of times scientist and others do argue that it is because of an overlapping of the X or Y chromosome with the gender. While those sexual demons spirits enter the mothers womb through witchcraft/ voodoo encounters, lack of prayer etc. By just relying upon their intellect and the social world their become vain in their imagination and their foolish heart was darkened .Professing themselves to be wise,they became fools. Experiences with gay life in the church, and their surroundings. It is awful to imagine being in a church where human beings/youth have no one to talk to or any one to counsel them for that matter; but because they don’t have parents, siblings, or pastors but because what they are confronting is to severe. The struggle is too much for them. Which young adults in their right mind will come to a grown- up or even friends to tell them of their woes. Some of us church members are too judgmental, too prejudice or even have fear in regards to this issue let along helping a youngster get rid of this demon possession. < homosexuality> The question is, are we equipped to deal with this sort of problem? What about the suffering youth? How can we solve the problem? How can we tell the suffering youth that we can remedy the situation? Ad if there is no one available right now, where can they find the first aid kit to remedy this situation? Some of them goes so far as to think that they were born with this dis- ease , how can we show them different? Science tell them that there is an overlap with the x and y chromosome that can cause them to act as though, but we Christian know that Jesus can counteract the effect. There is hope in the Lord. The first one we usually blame we can’t find solutions to perplex problems is God. The enemy of our souls usually has us pinpoint to the creator in those difficult dilemmas just so we can forget who the father of destruction is and who cast him out and a third of his angels out from heaven for rebellious action. God is a God of love. He does not like destruction. He could of just wipe out Adam and Eve when they disobey. He could have even destroyed satan and the disobedient angels when they did not listen to heaven. However, for about 6,500 years The devil and his companies are still there vexing children, young adults, grown-up etc. He even went as far as trifling with Jesus while he was on earth. The fact is God could not want to punish us for wrong doing and know that some people are born with homosexuality and destroy them with out any notion of a cure, solution and warning. It is possible that I may not know all there is to know in regards to this sickness; however, there is a thus saith the Lord in the bible in regards to what can cause this state of sin sick soul. Let’s dive into the word of God for a moment to see what cause this abomination. Take your bible and let’s eat the word! What does the word of God tells us in Ezekiel, Ezekeiel 16:49-50 : "Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy. 10. Why don't we just dissolve marriage completely?
Why don't we revert to savagery & totally do away with the accomplishments of human kind?
Let's quit being hypocritical & glamorize the virtues of homosexuality?
The only distinction in straight & gay marriage is that with two men who love each other they practice shoving their dicks in each other's ass. Oh my, that was harsh, wasn't it? It is indeed factual though, Will & Grace make you forget all that.
This indeed is truly the ONLY distinction between gay marriage & heterosexual marriage. If you agree with the reality of that distinction that a marriage without the possibility of conception between the two then your opinion of gay marriage or marriage in general might be acceptable.
Animals nurture their young everyday & very often the offspring are not biologically their own, does this constitute marriage or simply a partnership or relationship of nurturing? It wasn't enough that we all learned to tolerate gay relationships that got shoved down our throats, it had to come to this.
If this is progress in civilization then fast forward 100 yrs from now. Where will we truly be? Is a step like this truly necessary or merely an immoral victory of opposition to unknowingly reverse the true meaning of civilization? The answer is fundamental...

11. Okay, let's break this down, shall we?
1) GAY PEOPLE CAN'T HAVE CHILDREN. Well, guess what? Lots of kids are raised by gay families, and not allowing these parents to marry destabilizes these families by not allowing parents over 1,000 rights that heterosexual parents enjoy.
2) MARRIAGE EXISTS SOLELY FOR PARENTS. Um ... do all straight marriages result in children? Thought not.
3) HOMOSEXUALITY IS DEPRAVED AND IMMORAL. In truth, homosexuality exists in nearly every observable animal species on earth, usually when said species are overpopulated. The only problems that gay and lesbian people face that are not shared by straight people are the challenges of living in a heterosexist society.
4) ROME FELL BECAUSE OF GAY PEOPLE. No, Rome fell because Julius Caesar saw fit to rob the democratically elected Senate of all real power, beginning a line of dictators-for-life while pretending that it was still a republic. A certain "Decider" who decided that Habeus Corpus and the U.S. Constitution were inconvenient piffle and who believes that God chose him to be President is a lot more akin to Caligula than any gay person I've ever met.
5) CHILDREN WILL BECOME GAY IF PRESENTED WITH GAY ROLE MODELS. Actually, some of them will grow up to be gay even if raised in seemingly 100% heterosexual environments. About 10 percent of them, to be precise. And most kids raised by gay parents turn out to be straight -- about 90 percent of them, actually. Hm.

12. How dare all of you people who disagree. Not to say you don't have your own right to an opinion, but do give some better reason than a fear of religion, "barbarism," and procreation.
First of all, there is a reason this country allows for a separation between Church and State. One religion cannot rule over a country in which so many people's beliefs differ. To decide in favor of a one-sided bias is ridiculous. No one is telling people that they must be gay, but there are those who tell them they can't. Does that change the fact that they are? No. Not at all. That's like saying that if you tell people that they can't be obese they suddenly won't be. It's not going to happen.
As far as barbarism goes, is not a country so afraid of accepting a person's decision far more barbaric than one that is? If not barbaric then certainly it is tyrannical. And does are population truly seem so close to shrinking? We should have little to fear as far as population. The world society today is not so primitive as to allow a general overtaking of a great world power. Many same-sex marriages include children, they just don't include heterosexual relations.
That brings me to the procreation argument. When are people going to accept the fact that intercourse is not just about procreation anymore. Heaven forbid that fact gets out to the youth(not that they haven't already figured it out). Perhaps that is the reason is does not seem to be spoken above a whisper.
But overall, is this not yet another civil rights movement? When are the conservative people of this country going to realize that change cannot be held off, that change is going to happen, that there is nothing to be done about it? The world goes on, without revolving around a book rewritten countless times. The world goes on, without the need for thousands upon thousands of children to be born every moment. The world goes on, without the Christian getting every demand they pound out. The world will go on without anyone, and it will continue to grant the change that will protect out country's freedoms.

Joking aside, this is a step in the right direction. Since marriage is a LEGAL action, and the government is not CONTROLLED BY ANY CHURCH, religious views should have no grounds on whether or not gay marriage is legal.
