It's impossible to predict the future with certainty (obviously) and many things can change between now and November. But if things continue as they are, the Republicans are going to get steamrolled in 2008. And there would have to be some real dramatic change on the world scene for there to be a different outcome. All things being equal, they are on their way to a loss like they've never seen before.
Here is why:
Now, new polls are showing voters preferring Democrats by nearly 20 points to Republicans. That's unheard of. Not chastened by any of this, the GOP continues to head in the wrong direction. Instead of finally coming back toward the center, they keep going further and further right. By the time they get their wake up call in 2008, it's going to be too late. It's going to take them decades to recover from this mistake. They have gone so far to the right, they went right off the cliff.

76. P.S.
Speaking of how EASY it'd have been for Obama to win were he white, remember that John Edwards guy? And Biden, and Dodd... and Happy, and Grumpy, and... I think there was a whole line of white guys up there at one point.
The facts are-- Obama got into office by beating a professional candidate, Alan Keyes, who has never (I don't think) been known to win anything, and that Obama has had a relatively short life in politics and a shorter one in the national eye. So what is "clear" is that your contention (that he would be unbeatable if only he were white) is insupportable.
Oh yeah, Obama's democratic predecessor was run out of office due to purportedly wanting to be (wanting his famous wife to be?) a swinger. This information was leaked to the public somehow, despite its being basically a private matter that no involved parties chose to disclose.
Again, it seems we’ll be forced to choose between someone whose main color is actually GREEN, and someone who is just plain inconsistent, and maybe a little too far on the SILVER side, not in age so much as in demeanor and sharpness.
And, oh yeah, for a bunch of other reasons that both sides of this choice suck, see above.

77. I mistyped/spoke, in that Jerry Ryan, was, I believe, Obama's slated Republican opponent, and he was expected to win, before the "scandal" dismantled his campaign, hence the entrance of Alan Keyes.
I'm really sorry that so many people still see these false dichotomies everywhere, and think that using labels, like socialist, or conservative or liberal, or whatever, really prove any points.
These definitions are like revolving doors. What's considered a reasonable tax rate now is FAR more punitive to the middle and lower classes, and helpful to the super- wealthy (the trickle down is when they piss on you!), than that of the "good old" 50's 60's and 70's. And during those boom times we had ACTUAL regulations on loan and mortgage companies, credit card companies, and the FDA inspected food and drugs! Usury was illegal, and the rates now charged “legally” were considered criminal and charged only by loan sharks. (See, kids, in laissez-faire land-- it’s really magical-- you just make everything legal! Problems solved!)
We had regulated immigration instead of open borders that feed the rich's lust for ever cheaper labor and ever less transparent business practices.
Both the "right" and the "left," whose policies are in sync on most of these issues, had better wake up before there is no more middle class and our living standards are those of a third world nation, the U.S. being effectively brought down and destroyed while the oligarchy talks its lofty talk about lifting UP the world, and we are distracted militarily by other, equally real, enemies. But we never catch them! And Bush has tea with the Saudis.
Bill Gates, tell your globo-utopian BS to kids who've sucked on lead toys, people who've taken tainted meds, people who’ve suffered lowered wages and lost jobs, all of us who suffer the effects of lowered environmental standards, to the underpaid high-techers, and by the way, how about that e-waste problem? Solved that yet?
And Alan Greenspan, BITE ME! You may as well have changed the U.S. currency to oak leaves, as suggested by the Upright Citizens Brigade.

Just to pick nits a bit:
The candidate was actually Jack Ryan. The wife/ex-wife was actress Jeri Ryan.

Too bad the whites don't have enough confidence to vote overwhelmingly for a white candidate.

80. In your dreams, Young Turks.
The Democrats have been swiping at each other for months now and when that's all done either of your candidates will be much lesser for it.
Only John McCain will keep this country safe.

81. OBAMA'S TRUE ISLAMIC NATURE HAS COME OUT..
ISN'T IT FUNNY THAT OBAMA WOULD MAKE A STATEMENT WHERE HE SAID THERE ARE 57 STATES.... WHEN INFACT THAT IS THE EXACT NUMBER OF ISLAMIC (STATES OR COUNTRIES) 57 OF THEM..
Organisation of the Islamic Conference
The Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC) is an international organization with a permanent delegation to the United Nations. It groups 57 nations, most of which are Islamic, from the Middle East, Africa, Central Asia, Caucasus, Balkan, Southeast Asia, South Asia and South America. The official languages of the organization are Arabic, English and French.
MAKES YOU WONDER WHY OBAMA SAID THEIR ARE 57 STATES HUMMM...

82. Liberal media so often like to write what they WISH to be true (Republican party falling part, the phony National Guard papers).
McCain will easily defeat either candidate you put forward now that they've both exposed the true "un-opend-minded and un-all-inclusive" nature of the Democrat party in this extended bloody battle.
Thanks, RUSH! ;)

84. I am confused diversity is good..because we should be a rainbow but if we vote for a person because of thier race we are wrong!!Race is very important to achieve diversity but it should not be important...ANIMAL FARM!!What Happens If Obhama gets signals from his mother does his black half count..What if in the next election he runs against someone with a black mother would he gain the white vote!!I think we need to require some DNA testing to have a complete racial and gender check of the candidates..The Olympics do gender checks and we can have a complete racial breakdown,,,
