On Tuesday, May 20th the state of Kentucky has its turn in the 2008 Primary Circus. Yes, Hillary Clinton is still officially challenging Barack Obama for the Democratic nomination, but nobody cares anymore - Obama is going to win the nomination. So is there anything left of interest in the Kentucky Primary? As it turns out, there are plenty of fun political sideshows in the Bluegrass State.Several Democrats are battling for the nomination to challenge Senate Minority Leader, Horrendous Republican Establishment, Bush-Loving, Iraq-War-Supporting Mitch McConnell in the November election. The two main Democratic contenders are Bruce Lunsford and Greg Fischer. Lunsford seems like a nice fellow, he's accomplished, with a CPA and a Law Degree. He brags that he's one of the prominent thoroughbred horse owners in America. Maybe he's a competent civic leader, but apparently he has a history of kissing up to Kentucky Republicans. Meanwhile, Greg Fischer is also a successful businessman. After graduating from college he took a solo backpacking trip around the world. Finally, and maybe most importantly, he's the candidate of choice of Act Blue, the organization that's been so successful in raising money for progressive candidates across the country. So Tuesday night, be on the look out for underdog Greg Fischer to defeat establishment Bruce Lunsford for the right to challenge McConnell in the fall.
In the Kentucky House races, Republicans are competing to take on freshman Democrat John Yarmuth, who was part of the wave of Democratic victories in 2006. The fun part of this is that his 2006 opponent, Anne Northup is running in the Republican primary. Who doesn't love a rematch? Let's root for Northup to win the Republican Primary in the 3rd Congressional District of Kentucky (as long as he wins again in the General Election rematch).
The 4th Congressional District in Kentucky has the misfortune of being represented by Republican Geoff Davis. Come on, does he have to call himself Geoff Davis in this day and age? (Jefferson Davis, one-time Senator from Mississippi and eventual President of the Confederacy, was born in Kentucky.) If Geoff Davis sounds familiar to you, it might be for the controversy he created last month when he called Barack Obama "boy". For some reason, two Republicans are challenging him in the Primary, GE Puckett and Warren Stone. Little is known about GE Puckett. Warren Stone is one of these people whose destiny fulfills the promise of his name - he is a construction contractor. More importantly, he studied Biblical Hebrew at Cincinnati Bible College, so he has the exact qualifications I look for in an elected representative. But seriously, he is kind-of-half-way against the Iraq War. For a Republican, that's good enough for me. Let's hope Warren Stone wins the Republican primary for the 4th Congressional District, then gets his butt handed to him by the Democrat Michael J. Kelley, another Act Blue candidate, in the Fall.
Other fun notes in Kentucky. The Representative from the 6th District is Ben Chandler, grandson of former Kentucky Governor, US Senator and Commissioner of Baseball, "Happy" Chandler. Democrat Heather Ryan will challenge incumbent "Exxon" Ed Whitfield in the November election in Congressional District #1. Ryan is another Act Blue candidate, and a personal victim of Mitch McConnell.
So there's plenty of election excitement this Tuesday in Kentucky, even with Obama already locking up the nomination. Stay tuned! And on Wednesday, tune in to The Young Turks for updates.

1. Watch for the Democrat and Obama flyer being sent out to people in Kentucky which shows Obama in a church, standing at a pulpit, with a big Christian Cross in the background. The Democrat Party and Obama want to put forth a Christian image of Obama so people will forget the ties Obama has with Muslims.
Will not work. Go to the Obama family tree and shake it, and all that falls out are Muslims. Obama's 2 fathers and their entire families are Muslims. So if elected, you will be putting a lover of Muslims in the White House. Also, blood is thicker than water.
Obama also got an endorsement from Hamas.
I get a kick of Obama's flyer showing him in a church in front of a big cross. Was there not a big stink made by someone over a Merry Christmas video that Mike Huckabee put out? Why no big stink over Obama using the Christian Religion in his Political Flyers????????
Cenk-you forgot to mention that MoveOn is putting push to get Lunsford out because he does not fit their mold of a good soldier of MoveOn.

2. Cenk pokes fun at Warren Stone for his Biblical scholarship. If the man instead had his degree in underwater basket weaving, women's studies, anthropology or the sociology of belly-button piercing, I'll bet that would be just ducky with Cenk. And, who "loves" the Iraq war? I guess Cenk "loved" Saddam Hussein, Uday and Cusay. Nice people.

3. Cenk
How about a poll of Democrat Voters as they exit the polls and ask them what they thought of Obama's 57 States mistake. And ask them if they were aware that the Org. Of Islamic Conference has met since 1999 and represented the 57 Islamic States. Source-Humanistic and Ethical Union
See how they think about the 57 Islamic States that Obama could have been referring to when he got confused. For a non-Muslim(ha ha ) he is pretty well up on Islamic States.

4. Here are the qualifications of "successful businessman" Greg Fischer, the candidate that gets Cenk's blessing:
"After graduating from college he took a solo backpacking trip around the world. Finally, and maybe most importantly, he's the candidate of choice of Act Blue, the organization that's been so successful in raising money for progressive candidates across the country."
Oooooo....backpacking!! And fundraising!
The kids who go door-to-door begging for Greenpeace and the Sierra Club have that same impressive resume'. I wonder if they know they're potential candidates for a gigantic pay raise if they're willing to ditch the dreads?

Cenk did not author this story. I have noticed this mistake being made recently (Bush/Golfing was by Ana). Please check under the main story line and see who posted the blog so you can correctly reference the authors.

8. Captain - Thanks for the compliment. And captivate me, if you would be so kind, with stories of Dick Cheney, Karl Rove and GW Bush lugging the dynamite up the steps of the WTC in advance of the 911 attack. ("Oh, my pacemaker!!") At least my confusion only involves misreading a name. Yours involves believing unbelievable conspiratorial nonsense.
Dave at 3:54PM on May 16th 2008
9. No, Dave, your nonsense involves more than the mistaken identity of a blogger.
Your shotgun approach, trying to change the subject to multiple, irrelevant topics is amusing, but just barely.

10. I am not familiar with the Kentucky races, so I have no commment about those. But the GOP is indeed nervous after losing three special election seats in the Republican South to the Democrats. No wonder the GOP house leader, John Boehner, is so bitchy lately. He publicly threw fellow GOP congressman Vito Fosella under the bus. Fosella is the married New York congressman who was picked up for DUI and fathered a child with another woman. Wow - with friends like Boehner.....
David S. at 4:55PM on May 16th 2008
11. Geoff Davis called a black man, "boy?"
Sounds like a stereotypical southern, redneck politician, trying to get in touch with his, "base."
He will probably win.
And a guy who studied, "Biblical Hebrew" is obviously more qualified than a man who saw the world on a person to person basis... if you're of the, "Dave-the-Bible-thumper" camp.
And, of course, if we, "shake the Obama family tree" we will find some Muslims. So, it's just the same as shaking the Okane family tree and concluding that Robert Okane is a naval war hero.
Good posts, wingers!

12. Letter to DNC
In honor of John Whatshisname's endorsement I sent the picture of Obama with his hands over is crotch during the National Anthem (while others hand their hands over their hearts) to 40 people on my email list. Democrats and Republicans alike. It should be about 4000 by today and on and on.
Took lessons from Karl Rove

Susan Estrich: Could Obama Be Another Dukakis?
Monday, May 12, 2008
By Susan Estrich
LOS ANGELES — It is a thought that sends shivers down the backs of Democrats, a name that brings to mind memories of an election lost that might have been won, against a war hero once referred to in headlines as a “wimp” who won not so much by his own strengths but because of the skill of his operatives in painting his lesser-known opponent as an out of touch “liberal” who refused to salute the flag or admit his mistakes, not to mention his supposedly unpatriotic wife.

13. Will the media succeed in covering up Obama's latest sexist outburst?
Watch the vido at you tube.
We are finally getting to know the real Senator Obama.
He disrespected Clinton during the NH debate. Some credit her surprise upset in that primary to his sexist attitude.
Now, while ignoring a female reporter's question about working class American jobs, he called her "sweetie", the linguistic equivalent to calling an African American "boy".
Given his adulation of hate mongering Reverend Wright, and his sneering remarks about the working class, their pro gun, pro religion, anti illegal immigration and anti free trade positions, few remain who have not been subject to his scorn.
No matter how hard the media is trying to undermine the democratic process by slanting the news for Obama and pretending he is already the nominee, he is not electable.
How anyone can support this racist, bigoted, sexist arrogant snot is beyond me.

I wonder if you are aware that this Dave person compared me to you, only he thought I was on steroids. Apparently, this man thinks his insults and combative attitude is appropriate. Moreover, he has convinced himself that he knows how to participate in a civilized manner, which of course is ludicrous as well as insulting.
Not only does this “gentleman” enjoy making assumptions when it comes to “other” bloggers, he cannot even tell the difference between men and women. It must be that his “equilibrium” continues to be out of sorts. On the other hand, he is probably just another petulant child, much like the jerk who occupies the White House. Thanks’ be to God it will only be for 248 very long days!
