For at least twenty years conservative hacks have been coming on TV, yelling and screaming with no substance -- and finally Chris Matthews couldn't take it anymore. He just annihilated this right-wing talk show host on national television. Watch it here:
The full seven minute embarrassing interview can be seen here. I have criticized Matthews plenty in the past. I think he's too chummy with power and often buys into Republican talking points without really challenging their core assumptions. But in this one shining moment, he wiped all that way. If he could challenge the assumptions of the right and the left like this night in and night out, then his show would truly be worth watching.

PS -- Small note of caution for Matthews. he can't let this develop into a shtick. What he did great here wasn't asking the same question 28 times; it was challenging the underlying talking point. The point isn't to embarrass people on national TV, the point is to get beyond the talking points and get to the substance of what they are saying.

There is no talking to people like that because they believe that they are doing god's work and the president of a nation they consider their adversary is not going to change that...

I'm sorry but I am not going to waste 7 minutes of my life watching a video of Chris Matthews so I will assume that what Cenk says is true (a BIG assumption) and that Matthews somehow won an argument against some right wing guy that nobody had ever heard of (I thought Kevin James was the King of Queens dude).

21. Yes reality, this is the norm for this blogger, and you are right, he does belong on Daily Pos. I don't understand why aol allows this. I guess they think it's evened out by Dinesh D'Souza on the "right", but D'Souza is just a religious nut who does nothing but promote his books.
It's not the same thing.
I've complained to AOL and I think everyone should. They should be able to do better than this.

24. I used to respect Matthew's opinions.
He's lost his objectivity & depth aligning himself with the likes of Olberman & Maddows, the two Obama ass kissing juvenile pre-schoolers.
Matthews used to be fair & more than one dimensional, now he sounds like an apologist on life support with the great black hope as his only means of resuscitation.
Come back Chris to reporting meaningful two sided commentary that benefits americans & draws us closer instead of breeding resentment amongst those who share opposing opinions. This is important, don't blow it....
