This wedding photographer in China was taking pictures of the happy couple when the earthquake struck. The album quickly went from posed images of the bride and groom to shots of falling debris and the bride climbing over wreckage. You can see the images here.
It's photographs like these that put a face to those high death-toll numbers and make the tragedy feel even more real and sad.

1. I tell ya Ada, earthquakes are scary. I've been in two, both in Southern California desert in the 70's. They were "rolling" earthquakes (something similar to the ocean surf) and as the Ricter Scale goes, I think they were small, maybe a 2 or 3.
But in both cases, I heard the rumble coming from underneath the ground a few seconds before the quake. The second one was the worst. We were standing there and the rumble got louder and louder and then the ground just crested upwards maybe 5 or 6 feet and we went tumbling down the slope caused by the crest. Imagine tumbling down the side of an ocean wave, that's what it was like.
It didn't last long, probably 15 or 20 seconds. When the rolling stopped and the rumbling noise began to subside and I got to my feet and looked around. There we 10 of us and we were scattered everywhere. Some "rolled" maybe 15 or 20 yards from were we were originally standing.
Quite an experience....

3. Just to comment on the picture, it looks extraordinarily fake. It appears as if the bride were pasted into the photo with MSPaint. Not saying it actually IS fake, but I've definitely seen frauds more realistic than that looks.
