To me the right-wing blogosphere is so filled with venom and nonsense that I simply can't understand it anymore. It's like they live on a different planet. The planet where George Bush is a good president and we haven't started enough wars in the Middle East. But now they've topped themselves. They've come up with one of the most inane and insane boycotts in American history -- and what's crazier is that it worked! Find out about it here:
There are still some sane conservatives left in the country -- Andrew Sullivan, George Will, Charlie Crist (who McCain is considering for a VP spot), Ron Paul, Bob Barr and even Pat Buchanan. You can disagree with these folks, but they haven't lost their minds. For the most part they have valid and interesting opinions that are worthy of debate. But the same cannot be said of the right-wing bloggers. They sound like crazed zealots to me. I guess they probably view me the same way, and that's why it feels like we're not living on the same planet.
I leave it to you to decide who makes sense and who doesn't. I know some of the readers of this blog think the Michelle Malkins of the world are clear headed and the rest of us (progressives, moderates, centrists, etc.) don't understand the existential threat we face from Rachel Ray's scarf. I don't think I'll ever reach those people. But I take some comfort in the fact that it appears about 75% of the country has seen what this brand of conservatism has wrought -- and doesn't want any piece of it.

1. Humans never cease to amaze me with just how pond-scum stupid they can be. I'm no Rachel Ray fan, but you can bet that I will go out of my way to go buy more coffee from Dunkin' Donuts.

2. More of Cenk's paranoid ranting. Everything is a part of the "vast right-wing conspiracy!"

3. I can't help but notice that you accuse the "right-wing bloggers" of being "crazed zealots." The Zealots of the first century A.D. were terrorists who killed Jews and Romans in an effort to re-establish the ancient kingdom of Israel. They failed miserably, with Jerusalem destroyed.
Many of the new zealots portray themselves as conservative to hijack a political party so that the U.S. will do what Jews alone cannot do -- restore the ancient kingdom of David.
Having learned from their ancestors, they no longer kill the representatives of the empire (unless absolutely necessary), but simply gain control of their political leadership.
That's why scarfs that might even give the vaguest hint at sympathy for the Palestinians must be stopped cold -- so that everyone will be cautious about any word or deed or symbol that might give aid and comfort to the enemies of Israel.
When people seem to be crazy, look a bit more deeply to find the method in their madness.

4. Recycled news, from Ada to Cenk, wonderful..
I'll agree we as americans have gone over the top with our thought process. The middle line of fair, objective, less intrusive means to resolve issues is fading into the sunset. Extremism is the new defensive posture telling the other side we don't like your viewpoints. It's like digging in deeper in a tug of war to offset the strength of the opposing side. The best approach is to lessen one's harsh opinion to reach that hallowed middle ground again. We're losing it as a country, do we not understand the meaning of 'pragmatic' anymore?

5. Cenk-It comes as no surprise as to you, part of the Left Wing lunatic fringe, of you leaving out the juicy facts of the story.
The Keffiyeh, as the scarf is called, is a scarf of Arab men which was popularized by Arafat to symbolize the muderous Juhid and was worn by Muslim Terrorists in beheading and hostage taking videos. It is popular among the Palistinian Terrorists as you have seen on TV.
It is a symbol of terrorists who kill innocent woman and children and designers here and abroad have been selling them and represent pro-Palistinian Jihad and anti war statements.
It is refreshing to see an american company, Dunkin Doughnuts, show sensitivity to the americans opposed to the Islamic Jahad and it's apoligists, like Cenk, who bend over backwards in the direction of anti american and anti Jew Political Correctness.
Cenk, this is more of what we can expect from Obama supporters who show their true colors in support of terrorists and symbols of their terrorism. Obama is a Muslim and this is this an example of the way america will go if Obama is elected President, down the path of supporting Islamic Terrorists????????
Cenk are you that stupid not to know the meaning behind the Keffiyeh or are you that insensitive to what it represents?
Obama is a Muslim at 7:05AM on May 29th 2008
6. The scarf is a scarf, worn by more non-terrorist than terrorist. Also, most terrorist don't wear the scarf. Get educated and get a life.
carl at 7:10AM on May 29th 2008
7. I can't see the video, have idea what the boycott was about or how it worked. Thanks for enlightening me.
Strados at 7:14AM on May 29th 2008
8. This is only an issue to the weak minded! Also, dumb idiots are the only people who believe Obama is a Muslim & had the same preacher for 20 years. Finally, Cowardly people who vote on fear should stop showing their stupidity in public.
carl at 7:19AM on May 29th 2008
9. I am certainly not a left winger, progressive, or whatever the term now in vogue, and I believe neo-cons and the religious right are fiddle playing Nero's... Just a guy that thinks you should be left alone to own pit bulls, guns, and grow your own pot, and low taxes.
That being said, I vomit whenever I see Rachel Ray. But that poor mediocrity is just wearing a friggin' simple scarf. These "conservatives" have taken stupidity to the next level. I think I'll go buy a Dunkin Donut now, and take it home, deep fry it (again), and pour cheese whiz over it. I think that was on the last Rachel show.
Stroessner at 7:17AM on May 29th 2008
10. There was no boycott. This is just a publicity stunt by dunkin donuts. Fear Sells for Republicans, Cowards and Racist.
carl at 7:18AM on May 29th 2008
11. I got the info from Ada Calhoun's blog. What a bunch of morons. But since the republicans legitimized this arguements that the scarf=muslim, can we then start the arguement that Obama does not wear the scarf, nor his wife, therefore they're not muslim? Or maybe since a Bush woman wore one...so maybe HE'S a muslim?
Oh wait, I forgot that convenience factor again. Stupidity is only valid when it works in your favor.
Strados at 7:24AM on May 29th 2008
12. BETTER YET! McCain's daughter wore one! Do you right-wingers REALLY want to elect a muslim sympathizer? I mean, CLEARLY, she might as well be wearing an "I heart JIHAD" t-shirt. Let's throw this around all the political boards! McCain must be muslim! Look at what his daughter wears!
Sounds ridiculous. Doesn't it.
Strados at 7:26AM on May 29th 2008
13. I feel very sad that I will never regain the 5 minutes 14 seconds of my life that was lost to this issue (and another minute to comment on it;-P). I don't care about the scarf; I don't care what the bloggers say about the scarf; I don't care that Dunkin Donuts pulled the add...or why; I don't care what these two yahoos think about it and I am certainly NOT going to boycott DD for this!!! Maybe Rachel Ray was trying to make some political statement, maybe not. I doubt that a very high percentage of people who saw the ad would have noticed the scarf. Moreover, Rachel Ray doesn't speak for me and I don't recall her being elected as the spokesperson for the USA; if she was admitting defeat or surrendering then she was doing it for herself alone.
MobTownTed at 7:39AM on May 29th 2008
14. And the right-wing dementia ex machina is reduced to this-- losing their shit over a scarf. I love it.
J Boyd at 8:58AM on May 29th 2008
15. I think it is just a scarf. But it is refreshing to see the champions of political correctness have a taste of their own medicine.
