Barack Obama won the Democratic nomination tonight, but you couldn't tell that if you were listening to Hillary Clinton's speech. I really thought she would have the good sense to know when the fight is over. But her refusal to concede tonight went from determination to derangement. Everybody likes a good tough fighter, but no one likes someone who keeps hitting after the bell has rung. It's ugly.
Watch her speech here (this is the part where she refuses to acknowledge that Obama has won) and then we explain how crazy this decision is:
Then Obama spoke and he was very gracious to her, even though he had already heard that she wouldn't concede. What more does he have to do? He passed the magic number. He has more pledged delegates, super delegates, overall delegates (and more popular votes too, despite Clinton's maniacal and completely unjustifiable claims to the contrary). The race was to get to a majority of the delegates -- and he got there. What is there not to concede?
There is one possible explanation for Hillary's actions tonight, I explain that in the clip below. First you'll see Obama's historic speech (the part where he claims victory) and then hear the possible reason Hillary is still hanging around in this race:
By the way, did you see McCain's speech tonight? Wow, that was embarrassing. It was anemic, lame and lacked even one percent of the energy of Clinton or Obama's speech. Unless some world changing event happens, McCain doesn't stand a chance. Anyone who saw Obama's speech and McCain's speech tonight can see that plain as day.

Obama has NOT WON!
The lying, bigoted, arrogant snot is trying to avoid the rules.
The nomination is decided at the convention, not in the media or Obama's wishful thinking.
Clinton per polls has 300 Electoral College delegates. Obama is not even on the radar screen. Obama is not electable.
Clinton won the popular vote count in all the states where her name was on the ballot and including an estimate of the caucuses (which are suspect anyway, because of Obama's tactics).
She has beat Obama by more than 200,000 votes.
Obama cannot include votes for him that were not for him. His popular vote count includes counting ALL uncommitted votes in Michigan for him which were NOT all for him, but also for other candidates such as Edwards, Richardson and Biden. Obama cannot rightfully claim "uncommitted" votes as votes for him. They were votes for "uncommitted".
Sorry! That's election rules. And since we are going by RULES, then obviously Hillary won the popular vote.

47. I have lost all respect for Hillary. She does not look strong and determined. She looks petty and vindictive. She claims that she is not attempting to walk in husband’s footsteps and would be her own person. Yet it appears that she is riding the ghost train for a hope at being the next “Comeback Kid”. She is looks more like the little beastie from the movie ‘The Ring’. Her obsession is greater than her conscience. If I was Obama I would be unable to trust her. We all know what happens to the Vice President if something happens to the President. Before everyone goes nuts, let me make it clear beyond a shadow of a doubt. I am not insinuating that Hillary would do anything to hurt Senator Obama to obtain the Presidency; I wish I could say the same about some of the people that support her.

48. Cent doesn't get it.
Obama does not yet have the nomination. Clinton is right to carry on, and stop the attempt to undermine democracy on the part of the Obama cult.
Moderates, women, and the working class are for equality, fair play, democracy, and the rule of law.
They will not unify behind Obama’s twisted philosophy. Ever.
They will not agree to hate whites, to demean women, and to despise working class people who are religious, own guns, believe in the rule of law, and are anti free trade for huge profits for the rich.
Obama and his syncophant devotees, those racist sexist bigots, ie the looney left, have just about completed the destruction of the Democratic Party.
If big business, the media, and the DNC power brokers go against the Democratic will of the people, who have chosen Clinton, and against common sense, ie Clinton wins in Nov, Obama gets creamed,./...then expect a complete exodus from the Democratic Party.
It is not a question of two good candidates. It is one accpetable candidate, Clinton,,, and one with totally revolting and heinous ethnics, philosophy, and goals.
Bettybb at 5:32PM on Jun 4th 2008
49. Cent,
Obviously there are those within the Demcocratic Party that are begging Clinton to stand up for what is right, and to follow the democratic rules.
Why? They know that polls show Clinton easily wins the Nov election while Obama gets trounced.
Why? They know each time the looney left gets their candidate, think Kerry, Dukakis, McGovern, etc the Dems are humiliated in their defeat.
Why? They know that polls are showing that many of Obama's supporters in the early voting, now they know he is a lying, racist, sexist bigot, are turning away from him.
Why? They want to avoid the destruction of the Democratic Party which will occur if Obama is nominated.
Obama's racist, bigoted and sexist views are totally revolting to women, moderates and the working class.

50. Ok Cenk, I hate to admit it, but you were right about a month ago when you, declared "stick a fork in Hillary, she's done."
I don't want to give aid and comfort to the enemy, but here's a story you can start working on for November. Write this up now, and you will be revered as a god, with clairvoyant abilities. The Young Turks:
....."Obama will have his arse handed to him by angry Hillary supporters..." Then when the slaughter of Obama in November rolls around, you can back out of this and still save some face, and your dignity somewhat intact.

51. With all due respect, to Senator Clinton, she has lost her mind. She has lost her integrity and she is behaving like a greedy Republican. None of the Democratic candidates set the rules at the start of the primaries, however, all of them including Senator Clinton agreed to the rules regarding Michigan and Florida. Were these stupid rules, maybe? However, that is hardly the point since everyone agreed to abide by them, including Senator Clinton. She is no video and audio tape saying, “these votes do not count”. When the primaries began she was all about the” Delegates”, the “Super Delegates” as soon as HER campaign began running a poorly ran campaign, she decided to change the rules. She had her chance, she did extremely well, she also got down in dirty along the way, and she did not reach the number of “Delegates” required to clinch the nomination, end of story, period!
She wants respect for the 18,000.000 people that voted for her. She needs to show respect for them as well and for the other 18,000.000 or so that voted for Senator Obama. At the end of the day this is not about her, or even him. It is about our country!
Come on Hillary, you are so much better than this. Show us grace, show us your dignity and show us your class!

52. What is Hillary doing? Unless you spent the day under a rock,Cenkie, you should know that Tony Rezko was convicted today. Hillary doesn't need an assassination, all she needs is an indictment. Of course as a McCain supporter I hope neither happens.

55. You Can't Be Serious Dept.- There's Linda chewing somebody out for being "inflammatory" in #32, then calling them a body part in #33. Linda, take the beam out of your own eye before you take the sliver out of somebody else's. (Otherwise it won't work, because you can't see it.)
And thank goodness Cliff is back. I was missing all of that great stuff about "fascist Neo-Cons". I'm sure all that "Dominionist" jive is sure to follow. Whatever happened to those Dominionists anyways? I think they're all living in Idaho. Herding sheep or something.
Dave at 8:50PM on Jun 4th 2008
56. Picture the situation reversed. What would Hillary be saying if she had reached the magic number excluding Obama?
Hillary supporters, be honest!
Neocons, you are excused, honesty is an entirely alien concept to you.

Dear Clif Kuplen
Welcome back, it is really great to read your post!
I am very glad to see that Senator Clinton has finally decided to do the right thing. I strongly believe that she will work with Senator Obama to unite the Democratic Party and finally win back the White House.

Dear Regina Martin
I strongly disagree with most of your statements, however, I strongly agree with you and you are 100% correct when you state the obvious fact, a person looses all right to complain about any candidate when they do not exercise their right to vote.

Oh believe you me, there's gonna be a whole lot of voting going on in November. I'm just beginning to 'condition' myself to hearing; "Those Repuklicons stole the election....They are racist....George Bush helped McCain rig the voting booths, blah, blah." I figure I'll volunteer at a Day Care Center for six months, and emerge calloused to liberal whining during the next four years.

60. I don't see anything wrong for Hillary to stay in this long, I highly respect her....I wished she would have won more to get the numbers that she needed. Even though I was not going to vote for Obama but I don't want to see McCain it the White House. The problem I have with Obama is some of his believes, first he didn't want to wear the flag pin and nows his wearing it. Next being with Rev. Wright this long he had to have the same believes as his, I wonder just what the Rev. said that he left because his running for president and then the Priest that had the same believes, making fun of Hillary and talking about white people like that, I still think Obama has the same believes, and who will forget what Ms Obama remarks where about being an american. I just hope for the sake of the democrats your choosing the right person to lead our county
