Wait Wait ... Don't Tell Me!
It was indeed a gut-wrenching decision for the Mo Rocca 180 editorial board. Several members were insistent that we withhold or "filter" the tape. But the majority of us sided with full disclosure. After the last seven years, it remains more important than ever that we in the press not suppress information. Journalists are quick to champion "Freedom of the Press." But with that Freedom comes a responsibility to our Public. We need to trust you to discern what matters. And you can only do that with full disclosure from us.
And now for some me-oriented fun! Yesterday on CBS Sunday Morning I did a piece on Wait Wait ... Don't Tell Me! It's a super fun radio quiz show that I've been on six years. My buddy, the hilarious Adam Felber, got me on the show and I can't thank him enough. Enjoy!
(P.S. I'll be posting more written material soon. I know I've been a little video heavy lately.)

1. Mo, I love Wait Wait! I started listening via podcast on my train commute; now I catch the broadcast on Saturday mornings as well. Part of its appeal is how much fun everyone on the stage is having. I hope it continues on for 10 more years!

2. Aw Mo,
It is a great show! Thank you for honoring Radio!
As for Mr. Will Hines...How could you have not told Mo that the Celtics won the NBA Championships?
Don't tell me that they just pay you to produce; speaking of which, did you hear about the pregnancy pact in MA? To quote the movie & book, "The Perfect Storm," -- "Why is it they always come from Gloucester?"
Keep up the fun stuff Mo!

3. Mo, you're one of the reasons I started listening to Wait Wait a few years ago, and now I get the podcast every week and I still adore it. That was a great video about it, and someday I'll find my way to Chicago to watch a taping. I'm hoping for another 10 years!

4. Thanks, JG and Becca, and welcome aboard, Sunbyrne! I'm still living down my NBA ignorance. I don't know how I missed that.
btw the number one question I get about Wait Wait is, "Are you guys having as much fun as it sounds like you're having?"
The answer is yes. Ensemble shows can be ... less than pleasant at times. WWDTM is an absolute joy.
(The number 2 question I get is, "Do you guys write your own bluffs?" The answer is yes.)

5. can't live without "Wait, Wait!"
Mo is always funny, and I love them all.

6. Aw Mo,
Those aren't the two questions that I would ask.
I would ask:
1) When you work with Paula Poundstone, do you wrap the toilet seat in cellophane?
2) Does she punch you in the nose for wrapping the toilet seat in cellophane? (Might explain your recent vacation history)
Seriously, I Love WWDTM and Radio in general.
If I were to write a book, I'd dedicate an entire chapter to Radio. But that's just me.

7. I'm at work, so I'll watch the video later, but while I'm here, I thought I'd mention I saw Mo advertising for BoA this weekend. Quite startled me.
Did you know that BoA was started for Italian immigrants in the US way back in the day? Or so I'm told.

8. Aw Mo,
And I love this blog because it is so much like Radio.
Except for the featured videos, people are left to their wonderful imaginations--something that almost went out of style.
So, here. I'm not supposed to reveal this, but I'll release a clue. Senator Obama's Vice Presidential running mate will be...

9. Mr. Rocca:
I am tired of these crude remarks associating
me with Big Oil.
I never became fraternized or became familiar with the Beverly Hillbillies, nor did I ever give them aid or comfort. Jed and Associates acquired their fortune by speculation in the Natural Resources Market and I do not condone their behavior.
My name is Hank Kimball, and I approved this...
what is this? Is this email? Am I...

10.
Jinkies, Mr. Rocca...
@ 1st, I thought 1 of those theaters looked like the Bushnell, in Hartford.
Then I remembered you weren't IN Hartford.
I actually saw the video @ exactly the same time as my daily pouting ritual over that.
You have perfect timing.
I think you should get Paula on Iron Chef...
After I lose my house (auction) this coming weekend, have to move in w/ my parents pushing 40, & have cable again, it will cheer me up immensely.
Speaking of which... A 'behind the scenes' of IC isn't a bad idea, either.
Yum,
Sherry

11.
I should clarify...
My parents are not pushing 40.
That would be me.
Also... Can you bring me David Sedaris?
I am currently listening to the 8 CD set of 'When You Are Engulfed In Flames' (after reading all his other work the old-fashioned way), & am enjoying it a great deal, even after only 7 of them.
Sorry to hit you up w/ all these requests.
I'm an idea person (which is what got me into this mess in the 1st place).
Yum Again,
Sherry

Good luck with your houing situation. I hope it works out for you.
It seems I may be in a similar position myself- for much more selfish reasons.
