Actually this really isn't about me. This is my interview with the Funniest Girl on Broadway. Kerry Butler is the star of Xanadu on Broadway and she is a riot. You must see this show before she leaves the cast. (If you can't see it with her, see it anyway. It's non-stop laughs. And it's 95 minutes and intermission-less, like most Broadway shows should be.)
Kerry is rare. She's hilarious without ever mugging. She's not outrageous in the least. In fact she sings beautifully. And she manages to be believable in the Olivia Newton-John muse-on-skates role. Don't ask how. Just go see the show if you can.

1. Aw Mo,
I just loved Kerry Butler in "Ithaca College."
(I'll bet she doesn't even remember that one.)
Seriously, I have to catch that show. Maybe Blayze can score me some tickets when he isn't busy trying to out-do your videos.
My real question is: What is the statute of duration for holding a job which allows you to later say "I once was a...?"
Well, anyway, Roller-Skating-Waiting's loss is "Wait-Wait's" gain.

2. Thanks, babe!
I used to tape "One Life to Live" (until contract negotiations with Renee Elise Goldsberry fell through.)
Anyway, that's where I first saw Kerry Butler! She kicked ass on OLTL and she does have an AMAZING voice!
Kudos, Kerry!

3. Aw Mo,
It's Friday. Might as well kick it off right.
I wonder if KB's father ever came home at lunch and wondered "What the hell are you doing?"

4. I really wanted to see this show but have yet to get around to it. I remember reading about it in a Playbill and how it seemed like it was going to be a total diaster. However, it's lived up to the hype. I pass by it's theatre almost every time I'm in Manhattan.
There's so many shows I need to see. Specifically 'In the Heights', Tony Award winning Best Musical for 2008. I'm going to try and do it's lottery, hopefully nab myself some front row seats for 26 smackers.

5. I'm trying to imagine the crew call: "Camera man, sound technician needed for '5 Minutes' segment. Must be able to roller-skate backwards."
Fun to watch and listen. Thanks, Mo.

6.
I have *never* seen a roller rink floor as highly polished as that 1...
It's breathtaking.
I also ponder helmet laws, after watching this.
OT: I just closed (a few hours ago) on the sale of 50% of 1 of my properties that is on the auction block tomorrow... It's delapidated (was a work-in-pro when we bought it, so I was cool w/ it), so it's not much, BUT... It means I can relocate locally w/ my Bean, & keep her in her current school system. It also means that my big dumb assholehead ex can't try & squeeze "compensation" from me out of the sale price (he brought the foreclosure)... Only have to wait on the other property (I live in) auction tomorrow, during which I intend to lock the door, take a Benadryll, & either take a nap or vacuum.
Dinner's on me.

7. Haha, the different skating positions are wonderful.
I would love to see that show--what a fun concept! I really wish that I was not the (pathetically, twenty year old) product of overprotective parents. This type of clip makes me quite sad to be missing out on all of the things New York City has to offer. The last time I convinced my parents to make the jaunt to New York City (last June), I was lucky enough to see "Wicked" and finally dragged my father to a "Daily Show" taping, fantastically mixing a few of my favorite things. Since then, I have desperately wanted to go back, but my parents have managed to continue to ignore my pleas.
Alas, I am perpetually stuck in the cow-ridden suburbs of Syracuse!

My dearest skating Mo,
Originally, the show had a more sinister feel to it-
here are some of the lyrics-you can tell why they changed the concept.
(dedicated to Kate!)
A place where nothing should ever grow
The lump that we came to know
They call it Manitou
And now
Open that cyst and see
That thing is so creepy
It is a Manitou
chorus:
Manitou, Manitou
(now it is here)
It’s Manitou!
The thing
That came through a million years
That lived on through all the tears
It is a Manitou
Repeat Chorus WITH roller skates

I love you with all my heart and that little vacuum packed sealed thing they call my "soul"!

10. Speaking of cute "couples"...
Auntie and Neo sittin' in a white birch tree
K-I-S-S-I-N-G.
They're planning a strategy,
to make sure we win the G.E..
Even good ol' Mickey agrees
that we need to terminate classic Dumbo policies.
It's time for a modern Shrek Donkey Regime!
U.N.I.T.Y., that's a unity.
(Shout-out to the Queen!)

11. Heh, about half-way in I was thinking, "Mo is skating so well, he could work at a drive-in as a roller-skating carhop..." and then he revealed his past to us. A case of been there, done that, eh?
A fun piece. Break a leg, Kerry (but not on your skates!)

12. Aw Mo,
Skaters reverse (180)
How 'bout a Broadway skating musical about Hooterville. It could be based on a famous poem which was being written by Hank Kimball before some guy from Soreluck knocked on his door and woke him up:
In Hooterville did Hank Kimball
Announce his Presidential bid:
Where Alph and Ralph could not install
The closure to the Douglas wall,
The closet’s all they hid.
Once twice did Haney raise the price
Of the crumbling farmhouse thrice;
And that did not include the kitchen sink.
But Mr. Douglas and his “dahling” wife
Accepted terms that brought them to the brink
Of learning to renounce the “City Life.”
The Chores! And that’s how Hank came into play;
By teaching them to plant crops that would grow
While holding firm the pitchfork throwing hay.
(He had to re-teach that skill every day.)
Amnesia is a staple of the show.
The Stores! Where Drucker moderated conflicting advice
Of whether to plant rutabagas or rice
Hank Kimball was the wind sock in the storm.
Amid his almost half-witted forced rhyme
Hank Kimball suggested we all should get along--
That’s when Hank Kimball “burst” into this song:
(With, of course, the Douglas’s and the Presidency in mind.)

13. Wow! that was a masterpiece J.G.!
I'll rent out a Roller Rink so the Roccats can practice for auditions...
I'll try not to sneak some Parliament into the music score

14. Clemmie,
Kool.
After seeing that video, I definitely think we need a cover-up. Perhaps "Area 51 Vs Heinz 57?"
Saucy, but it gets to the heart of the matter. And maybe we could give Bill Maher a run for his cinematic money by noting that Carlin was the originator of the famous Supreme Court Case: "God Freaks V. UFO Geeks?"
BM knows this, of course, but it would be fun anyway.
JG:)
