It has now come to light that the detainee abuse in Guantanamo Bay, Iraq and Afghanistan started when the Bush administration ordered our interrogators to use a document called: "Communist Coercive Methods for Eliciting Individual Compliance."
This was a 1957 document that showed how the Chinese Communists tortured people -- in order to get false confessions! The only thing we changed was that we dropped the title of the document. Otherwise it is exactly the same. We have been using communist torture tactics that are designed to get false confessions. Meanwhile, The Bush administration has been calling it "enhanced interrogations" and saying we got "valuable intelligence" from it.
More details on the story here:
If you want to read the story of how we came to use this document for our own interrogations, you can click here. This is deplorable. Will anyone ever suffer the consequences for ordering this illegal torture? Will the press question John McCain on why he voted to allow the CIA to continue doing this? I wouldn't bank on it.
But if we do this, and no one ever gets punished for it, can we really say that America doesn't torture anymore?

1. Before long, Dead-eye-Dick and Governor Bush will be afraid to leave the United States. Just like Henry Kissinger, they will need legal teams to advise them on which nations are likely to arrest them for international war crimes.
Now that habeas corpus has been returned all of the, "detainees" are going to walk. They have all been tortured. Their "confessions" are useless on every level.
Dick & bush created a phony war on terror and then they lost it. But they got the oil for their corporate masters.
I'll wait to hear the usual suspects' vitriol.

2. All I can say is BULLS..T. The captives at Guantanamo are given more rights and eat better than Americans in our own prisons. They should have all been shot and killed instead of captured.
But as far as these Chinese torture tactics, maybe this is what Clinton traded our nuclear secrets for.
Lastly, if you haven't actually seen these torture tactics in use, and you're only hearing about it from the captives, I'd say not to believe it. And I doubt that a "young turk" has seen any of this in person.

3. Wow, Jim really knows his shit. He has probably seen these non-torture tactics first-hand, and thus knows what the young turks do not. I applaud you, Jim, for your depth of knowledge of such a non-existent thing!

It all depends on whether what they said was true or not. Some things may not be "admissable" in a court of law while somethings can be used in other ways. Its just a matter of sorting the wheat from the chaffs(?)

5. What a coincendence, I have a Chinese cook book published in 1931 and it is full of the same type of crap.

6. This is what I love about the Hate-America-First crowd. They would just love to think we're no different than China, the nation that shoots political prisoners in the head before extracting their vital organs and selling them.
Then they take other political dissidents, whom they've murdered, do some sort of weird preservation procedure on them and display them in US museums in that nifty little exhibition called "Bodies". Yikes.
And these bloodthirsty communist atheists have murdered tens of millions of their own citizens in the last 60 years. Maybe anybody that really believes that we're no different than China should go there. Permanently.

7. Most of the Gitmo detainees were not captured on the battle field. They were turned in for reward by another. Due to that, most of them are innocent of anything, let alone terrorism. Now after the harsh questioning they are either going to be terrorists or at the least not help us. Please check your facts. Even the most militant military sites agree that is true. Good going

8. Dave, exposing the truth of what the bush admin has been doing does not equate to hating america. He's the one ruining our reputation, we're offended by this.

9. The "Torture" must not have worked on THIS guy, or about 29 others who have been re-captured while trying to kill us -
"The latest case emerged two weeks ago when two Chinese engineers working on a dam project in Pakistan's lawless Waziristan region were kidnapped. The commander of a tribal militant group, Abdullah Mehsud, 29, told reporters by satellite phone that his followers were responsible for the abductions.
Mehsud said he spent two years at Guantanamo Bay after being captured in 2002 in Afghanistan fighting alongside the Taliban. At the time he was carrying a false Afghan identity card, and while in custody he maintained the fiction that he was an innocent Afghan tribesman, he said. U.S. officials never realized he was a Pakistani with deep ties to militants in both countries, he added.
"I managed to keep my Pakistani identity hidden all these years," he told Gulf News in a recent interview. Since his return to Pakistan in March, Pakistani newspapers have written lengthy accounts of Mehsud's hair and looks, and the powerful appeal to militants of his fiery denunciations of the United States. "We would fight America and its allies," he said in one interview, "until the very end."
All of the kool aid drinking leftists who think we can "reason" with these animals would be among the first to be decapitated when they take over the world. They are a cancer on the world and should be treated as such.

11. Hey there Big Guy,
You're beating a dead horse boss. Bush and his people are yesterday's news (like Hillary and her bid to become president).
We have two choices claiming they can right all the wrongs. It would serve us well to listen to them now. Because once they're in the White House....

12. Cenk
Cool, love it.
This is right up the Comrade Left Wingnuts choice of questioning terror suspects. I guess all the Comrade Left Wingnuts will want to high five Bush for the governments adapting one of THEIR chosen methods of question, the Chinese Communist method.
This is also the choice of questioning chosen by Comrade Castro to use on his thousands of Capitalist political prisoners, though it is rumored Castro refined the questioning methods to include a little bit of home grown Cuban torture.

13. I'm afraid the future of our country is in jeporady
all of this left wing babble has caused a lot of people to actually believe it.
Talk the lies and fears often enough and the people will believe it. That was hitlers strategy and it worked.
Pray for our country, we really need it now.

Me too, but for the same reason, I doubt this:

rush said it, he believes it, that settles it. There's no room in that brain for more than one bumper sticker at a time. Next thought?
xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
They should have all been shot and killed instead of captured.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Right. One bumper sticker out, one in. The coalition would have really stood up under that one. But hey, don't blame him! Who's fault could it possibly be, since republicans don't do responsibility. Lemme see, hmmmmmm...oh, yeah.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
But as far as these Chinese torture tactics, maybe this is what Clinton traded our nuclear secrets for.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Yes, the republican manifesto, plank one: It's all Clinton's fault!
Suddenly the chinese are their enemy? They're a day late and ten trillion dollars short on that one. How about we're fighting them over there to protect marriage? Talking to the North Koreans is Appeasement?
I dunno - do they give you anticipated flipflop expiration dates when they pass out your talking points?
What are they anyway, like a punchcard that fits in the back of your heads or something? Your man has to have his servant do his computing, so I doubt it would be USB.
