Very well said.

47. For once I agree with the Cenkster. Obama should stay on the far left. That way he has NO chance of ever being elected. Thank you, Cenk.

48. Of course Kristol didn't say that Governor bush *will* attack Iran in that video clip. How could he say such a thing?
But anyone who has been paying attention can read between the lines. What he said is exactly what is happening.
Since that clip (late June) Israel said that they will attack Iran if the United States doesn't.
You can look at today's AOL headlines which show Iran launching missiles because of threats from the United States and Israel.
Make no mistake about it, Bob, an attack on Iran is coming before the bush-cheney junta leaves office.
Do you suppose that if Israel launches an attack on Isreal and Iran responds, that the bush-cheney junta will 'not' attack Iran? The fix is in. The neocons' best foreign friend is Israel.
You can read all about it in the PNAC. The first stage was Afghanistan, for the same reason everyone else has hitorically tried to take Afghanistan... The Khyber Pass... as a pipeline route.
The second phase was Iraq, for the oil. The next step of the plan is Iran.
You can read it for yourself. Just google, "PNAC."
If the neocons are not driven from their power-play and manage to take Iran... and Russia and China don't say, "Enough!"... the next phase of the neocon plan is central Asia's oil and then Central Africa's oil.
The goal of the neocons is nothing less then global hegemony.
Not directed toward you, Bob, but I get really, really tired of having to explain the neocons to people who think that the term is generic for, "republicans." ANYONE can read their plan and see that it has been underway since the bush-cheney junta was annointed by the Supremes.
Check out the PNAC, when it was written and who the signators are and there won't be any surprises.

But thanks for the cheap psychoanalysis. Do you have a little booth out by your front sidewalk reading, "Psychiatry 5 Cents?"

DITTOHEADS! They're everywhere!
There must be some new drug floating around.

51. Obama has no choice but to move to the center. You dumbocrats just don't get it. Mainstream America will never elect a far left radical to be our president. Does the name John Kerry ring any bells.? The only reason Bush got reelected was that he was the lesser of two evils.Far lefties are scary since they are in general Americas worst enemies. Most of us anre middle of the roaders and we want someone like ourselves. You lefty loons are just plain scary.

52. Obama talks about "changes". The only thing that comes close to that is him "changing his mind" when he wants votes. He says what he wants his audience to hear. He does not have a strong backbone. He is weak and unintelligent; he just have a lot of talk which seduces the people because they think he is saying something, but it's all big, meaningless words!

54. "Of course Kristol didn't say that Governor bush *will* attack Iran in that video clip. How could he say such a thing?"
Cap, your original post said this:
"The neocons say that Governor bush will attack Iran if the republicans see that Obama is going to win."
When I asked for a link to something that supported that statement, you sent me to that link.
I went there. Kristol didn't say it. Nobody else said it.
Which you then acknowledged.
So since that obviously didn't pan out in the fashion you said it would, why should I or anyone else believe anything else you have to say?

55. Here is a link to the ultra-conservative "Newsmax" site which gives some indications that the United States is preparing to attack Iran. It is a bit dated (from MAY 2008) but the idea that we are about to attack Iran is not news in any sense of the word.
http://www.newsmax.com/newsfront/Report_US_to_Attack_iran/2008/05/20/97545.html
The following is an excerpt from the article.
(snip)
However, numerous signs point to a U.S. strike on Iran in the near future:
A leading member of America’s Jewish community told Newsmax in April that a military strike on Iran was likely and that Vice President Cheney’s March trip through the Middle East came in preparation for the U.S. attack.
The Air Force recently declared the B-2 bomber fleet — a critical weapons system in any U.S. attack on Iran — as airworthy again. The Air Force had halted B-2 flights after a February crash in Guam. As Newsmax reported, the Air Force has refitted its stealth bombers to carry 30,000-pound “bunker buster” bombs, needed to destroy Iran’s hardened nuclear facilities.
A second U.S. aircraft carrier, the USS Abraham Lincoln, joined the carrier USS Harry S. Truman in the Persian Gulf in May, carrying far more weaponry and ammunition than on previous deployments.
Israel is gearing up for war. In April, it conducted its largest homeland military exercises ever. The Jewish-American source said Israel is “preparing for heavy casualties,” expecting to be the target of Iranian retribution following the U.S. attack.
Saudi Arabia is taking steps to prepare for possible radioactive contamination from U.S. destruction of Iran’s nuclear facilities. The Saudi government reportedly approved nuclear fallout preparations a day after Cheney met with the kingdom’s highest-ranking officials.
The USS Ross, an Aegis-class destroyer, has taken up station off the coast of Lebanon. Military observers speculate it is there to help defend Israel from missile attacks.
Adm. Michael Mullen, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said at a recent Pentagon briefing that the Iranians are systematically importing and training Shiite militia fighters, who slip back across the Iraqi border to kill American troops.
And Israeli intelligence has predicted that Iran will acquire its first nuclear device in 2009, much earlier than previous U.S. estimates.

56. bob, William Kristol is not a spokesman for the bush-cheney junta. At least not offically. He is, however, one of the chief architects and spokesmen of the PNAC and neoconservativism.
And you clearly heard Kristol say that if McCain wins, it will be left to him, but if Governor bush sees that Obama will win, he (governor bush) will likely attack Iran because he thinks it is in the best interest of his, "legacy."
Apparently you haven't been paying attention. There was recently an article by Seymour Hersch about the increased involvement of Special Operations forces in Iran. But he is a, "liberal."
I just pasted in a right-wing site's article giving some of the reasons to believe that the U.S. is getting ready to attack Iran.
Really, bob, I get tired of doing everything for "conservatives" who have no idea what their political heroes are up to.
How long have you been hearing about the, "Project For The New American Century"? Have you even bothered to check it out? I don't expect anyone to actually sit down and read it, but you can skim it can't you?
So let me ask my fellow readers....
Are the rest of you so ill informed of the U.S.-Isreali- Iran situation?
Are any of you not aware of today's headline story, right here on AOL, about Iran's preparations for an attack? The pictures shows Iran firing multiple missiles which can reach Isreal and is promising to shut down the flow of oil through the Strait of Hormuz.

57. Cap,
Just because I thought I oughta give it shot to be fair, I googled PNAC.
I got a Wikipedia definition and links to a bunch of sites that, personally, I wouldn't call reliable sources.
When a site's banner includes the phrase "What CNN Won't Tell You!" or somesuch, I know i've wandered into the land of evil Trilateral Commissions and Bergerbuilders or Bilderburgers or whatever they are.
Based on what I was able to garner from the semi to non-reliable sources, it appears that the PNAC is another wacky think tank (from what I have heard, DC is full of them) that has, as one of it's featured members or founders or whatever, William Kristol.
(As an aside, in the video Bill Kristol looks like he's been subsisting on Nathan's dogs and Red Bull. If you want to start a heart attack pool, I'm in.)
I read several different versions of the organization's stated goals. It seemed to vary from site to site, as did the take on the organization's relative wacky-ness and/or ability to secretly wreak havoc on the entire planet.
I'm sorry, I just can't buy into this stuff. If I'm proven wrong I'll readily admit it, but for the time being I just can't bring myself to swallow that crap.

58. >>>The democrats do, and it worked last time when Carter put it in place ten months before leaving office. By 1988 there were no more windfall profits.>>>
Clif,
Carter's windfall profits campaign on the oil industry stifled oil production in this country by almost 2 billion barrels. we fell behind the curve dramatically in production after penalizing the private sector for maintaining profitability much like today.
Even royalties on oil production are a large part of the Clinton administrations "asleep at the wheel" policy. The dept. of Interior made one of the all time bloopers in '97 with the omission of royalties on any new fields found in the gulf. Those lease agreements still stand today.
Again, failed historical policies that will amount to the same idea as the Commerce dept. fining Microsoft 50 million for anti trust violations. The American public will not reap the benefits of usurped taxation one bit & the proceeds (if any) will end up in the general fund to be dispensed at will.
Fabricated "windfall" profits no matter how extreme they seem will be challenged & defeated in court.
Drilling to offset demand is the only way to bring competition back to the markets. Taxation will not fill up a gas tank!

59. "And you clearly heard Kristol say that if McCain wins, it will be left to him, but if Governor bush sees that Obama will win, he (governor bush) will likely attack Iran because he thinks it is in the best interest of his, "legacy.""
Cap,
Most of those vids have a clock running under them. I'm gonna need someone to point out the time marks on that video where Kristol states that Bush likely will attack if Obama looks like he's gonna win, to protect his legacy. Cuz I am just not seeing that.
Seriously.
bob at 8:47PM on Jul 9th 2008
60. bob, has it occurred to you that the best source would be the PNAC itself?
I agree that it was written by and signed by a bunch of kooks.
Kooks like DICK CHENEY and DONALD RUMSFELD.
You can't dismiss the PNAC when you see that what they planned is what has happened.
Not much I can do for you if you're determined to be an intellectual SLACKER, bob.
