Health care providers who depend on federal aid to operate may soon be required to certify that they will not discriminate against doctors, nurses, or any other employees who object to administering birth control and abortion services. In turn, the proposed rule by the Department of Health and Human Services would allow any federal grant recipient to obstruct a woman's access to contraception. The New York Times also reports "the new requirement is needed to ensure that federal money does not support morally coercive or discriminatory practices or policies in violation of federal law."
What is the religious reasoning behind this? Some forms of contraception prevent implantation of a fertilized egg in a woman's womb. For members of the religious right, that is classified as abortion because a fertilized egg marks the beginning of "the creation life." In fact, the HHS states the following "definitions" for abortion:
What is the religious reasoning behind this? Some forms of contraception prevent implantation of a fertilized egg in a woman's womb. For members of the religious right, that is classified as abortion because a fertilized egg marks the beginning of "the creation life." In fact, the HHS states the following "definitions" for abortion:
Abortion: An abortion is the termination of a pregnancy. There are two commonly held views on the question of when a pregnancy begins. Some consider a pregnancy to begin at conception (that is, the fertilization of the egg by the sperm), while others consider it to begin with implantation (when the embryo implants in the lining of the uterus). A 2001 Zogby International American Values poll revealed that 49% of Americans believe that human life begins at conception. Presumably many who hold this belief think that any action that destroys human life after conception is the termination of a pregnancy, and so would be included in their definition of the term "abortion." Those who believe pregnancy begins at implantation believe the term "abortion" only includes the destruction of a human being after it has implanted in the lining of the uterus.
The proposal by the HHS basically discredits the Supreme Court ruling of Roe v. Wade by making the indication that what a woman does with her body is not a private matter, but rather something the government and complete strangers would have control over. Hospital pharmacists would get away with refusing to fill prescriptions for birth control, and doctors would be able to turn away rape victims who seeks emergency contraception. Remember, this is all in the name of religion. Separation of church and state is a myth, and it always has been.

76. Obama Panders to the Religious Left
Part of the Religious Left consists of the Anti War Left Wingnuts which Obama has pandered to for years.
The Left Wingnuts squeeze their legs together and squeal with delight when the news breaks stories on Repbulicans such as the tapping on the public bathroom floor with his shoe or the Governor who had took part in an exorcism when he was in college. Cenk and the Left Wingnut Press jumped on those stories.
Now, Cenk and the Left Wingnut Press have completely played down or not reported at all about the arrests of
Three prominent Democrats in North Carolina for Rape and torture of a couple, that involved in putting them in dog cages, shackling them to beds, assaulting them both physically and sexually and threatening them with a deadly weapon.
Charged-Joy Johnson, Vice Chairperson of the County Democrat Party and Vice Chairperson of the Young Democrats, her husband, and a Diana Palmer who is the first vice-chairperson of the County Democrat Party.
Joy Johnson, an anti-war liberal who claims to be a true Christian and part of the Christian Peacemaker Teams that went to Iraq before the war in support of Saddam and say they wanted non-violent alternatives to war. Of course, this
bible thumper supported Saddam's brutal regime of torture because she to loved to torture people.
As an anti-Israel activist, she went to Israel with the Israel Committee against House Demolition to protest the demolition of homes of known terrorists.
It is worth noting every time you hear a lecture from the Religious Left on the true ideals of peace, what really stands behind it. And the true face of the Christian Peacemaker Groups is one bigotry and support for terrorism, one of the Religious Left Groups that Obama panders to.
As we can see, the same Democrats, Obama, Cenk, and the Liberal Press, who express outrage over
shoe tapping, exorcisms, and Abu Ghaib will have nothing to say about the arrests of Joy Johnson, her husband, and Diana Palmer, and the culture of torture that comes from supporting evil around the world.
The silence is..............deafening
These are some of those on the Religious Left Panders to.

77. Clearly, the anthrax came from a supposedly secure, U.S. facility. Preponderance of evidence suggest the same, "shadow government" behind 9-11 was also behind the anthrax attacks.

Yes, you did say you did not attend college, now you went to college in California.
Then you had said you did not get drafted just before you passed the age of being drafted because you got a high number. But the lottery did not start till you were to old to be drafted.
Then, why were you not drafted when age 19 to 25, when there was a draft that went by age, not a lottery system?
But, didn't you say you were 4F?
So how could you have even been part of a draft lottery?
Your physical or mental health improved in your last year of eligibility to where you were no longer 4F?
I agree with Ded, you are a complete bull shitter with no credibility

Interestingly, about five minutes ago I was listening to thom hartmann on the radio discussing the same thing.
The strain of anthrax is known, Ames, I think it was called, it was weaponized at a known US location. The two senators who were anthraxed were crucial to two senate votes, one on the patriot act and one on nclb after jim jeffords bailed on the republicans because of his horror over NCLB profiteering and went independent.
Those are what an investigator would call some of the known facts of incident.
Another is the red herring persecution of Steven Hatfill, who was just compensated as I said for six mil.
There is certainly a cloud of suspicion surrounding the incident, especially considering what the incident caused that greatly benefitted the R party and enriched certain people.
In light of the fact that this has been disconnected from the terrorist attacks and no one is looking for a perpetrator makes me wonder why there isn't a diligent search.
Emptying a packet of anthrax in a hospital ER restroom for example, or doing it in several or in a store in a mall would result in as much chaos and mayhem as a good sized dirty bomb.
If these were indeed muslims, it's the greatest known threat of all so far, but dealing with the attacks face to face is politically radioactive.
There are no theories that I know of.
There are however the facts of incident that I related and others that can be found on websites.
This is literally screaming for resolution.
An anthrax attack on hospitals or enclosed public areas like shopping malls from al qaeda could be far more devastating to a crowded urban area with an exponentially larger panic factor, and if I know that, al qaeda certainly does and the so-called defenders of our country do too, unless they already know that the anthrax is not related to al qaeda.
So that's where it stands with the anthrax incident.
It was weaponized, american made, used right after its manufacturing facility was closed making it harder to trace, its victims were democrats holding up two key issues of legislation that others stood to make billions on.
Do you deny any of that, or do you not care about it, what? Sweep it under the rug?
That's not space aliens, those are the facts that are published and agreed to. Make of it what you will.

83. 34. ---what you say is scientifically accurate.
Also, if destroying life is sinful, then every conception is six million times more sinful than not, and every period marks another sin of non conception.
---------------------------------------
Mind explaining that conception idea re 6 million more times as sinful how so? Every period does mark another non-conception, but this ties into abortion how exactly or are you just going rhetoricalistic here?
Anyone saying life begins at conception is welcome to try to fertilize a live ovum with dead sperm or vice versa or jam a couple o' dead ones together.what you say is scientifically accurate.
Clif Kuplen at 12:19PM on Jul 18th 2008
-------------------------------------
Well, that's stretching facts a bit far, even for you Cleef but if your last sentence does refer to conception as the start of life, I'll agree with you. Is cloning conception or is that creating a soulless creature providing you agree to the concept of a soul coming from a Creator and not random chance of molecular adhesion in primordial soup?

it varied from board to board year to year, I would assume.
Why is it so important to you, toodles? I went to college in the sixties, both grad and undergrad and said so repeatedly. and I took some time off to live too. My draft status, which is not in any conceivable way any of your business was what it was.
And in the end, I couldn't tell you why I was called and sent home repeatedly, nor why there were always others too or if it was the same reason for everyone. I never knew and I couldn't care less.
There was a reason my records were repeatedly returned to my original board I would assume, but I can only guess at it since it was very possibly a personal issue between two field grade officers and I was apparently their pawn, but I can only guess about that and have zero clue as to motive unless just a personal pissing match.
I never knew, never will know and don't give a shit. Why do you care? Do you do shit like this to other people too or am I special?
Now I'm assuming you're a virgin and that might explain it. No life of your own.
Would I be right about that, toodles?

that was quite a laugh, bob. Now I see why you think obama is like bush and that i guess both of them are muslims or whatever since you also think they're the same, or sometimes you do.
Here are some facts you might want to look up: The sixties were an entire decade.
There was more than one draft board
There was more than one state in those days
There were colleges in several states, I'd say all of them.
Keeping those written down and handy might get you to level two. That's more interesting because it's more sex and music. Unfortunately, I don't offer that info even if you get to level two, and at this rate, you're not to 0.2 yet. You are one fucked up dude to even be doing this, and to suck at it on top of it makes you pretty much a butt in my eyes.
Look, we're born with whatever mental ability we have and whatever ambition we have to improve it and be able to rely on it.
You got yours and I've got mine, and you may have noticed, there's a difference. It would be pretty hard to mix up one of your posts with one of mine, right?
I'll leave it at that. I think toodles may have made another one. I'd have to go see.
Look at it this way - you hit your peak early so you can function on this exact level til you die - cool, huh?

88. "So prior to the anthrax attacks these two senators were on record as being opposed to both the Patriot Act and NCLB?"
Hi Bob,
Not necessarily opposed, but they didn't jump on board immediately. They wanted to look into it a little further.
Most of them didn't even read the Patriot Act and NCLB. They just passed it. Everyone was emotional during those hard times after 9/11.
But those two Senators wanted to look at it completely before jumping ship.
It wasn't Muslims that sent the Anthrax.

90. "Most of them didn't even read the Patriot Act and NCLB. They just passed it. Everyone was emotional during those hard times after 9/11."
See, this is where it gets a bit far-fetched.
If everyone is already going along with everything pretty much, including the the two guys (and I guess I'll just assume they're the only two guys) who want to "take a look at it completely", isn't just a bit of a stretch to assume that TPTB behind NCLB and the Patriot Act would launch anthrax attacks and all the risk that entails, just to sort of tip it in a little early?
