The latest set of ads by the McCain camp against Barack Obama are comical. They have compared him to Britney Spears, Paris Hilton and Moses. I think they're doing him a huge favor. They keep showing pictures of him being cheered by huge crowds, often waving American flags.
And as you can tell from this interview that McCain's campaign manager, Rick Davis has with Andrea Mitchell on MSNBC, they are just pissed that they are not as popular as Obama. What a sad, weird way to run a campaign:
I think the only thing they are doing right in this regard is that by constantly attacking Obama, they have him playing defense and they have switched the conversation into one that is centered around whether Obama should be president. In fact, we should be talking about how the Republican have run this country into the ground over the last eight years -- and do we want that to continue for another four years? While McCain's ads are strangely complimentary of Obama in an unintended way, Obama still needs to change the topic.

3. This has been a very effective ad. It shows how Obama is really all fluff and no stuff. You are kidding yourselves if you think McCain is jealous of Obama If Obama is so much more popular why doesn't he have a bigger lead in the polls? HUH? I believe Obama is going to fizzle out in the end and McCain will be the next president, especially if he keeps getting "perks" from idiots like Ludicris. A lot of people are starting to connect dots and every Dem that I know personally has said they will not vote for Obama because they don't trust him.Obama is going to have a giant headache when he falls off that cloud. I am going to have a deep belly laugh at clowns like you.

4. Great work Dinesh. You sure drilled some sense into OBAMA. He just FLIPPED Flopped AGAIN. LOL. Just in from the Associated press...
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama said Friday he would be willing to support limited additional offshore oil drilling if that's what it takes to enact a comprehensive policy to foster fuel-efficient autos and develop alternate energy sources.
SHIFTING from his previous opposition to expanded offshore drilling, the Illinois senator told a Florida newspaper he could get behind a compromise with Republicans and oil companies to prevent gridlock over energy.
Republican rival John McCain, who earlier dropped his opposition to offshore drilling, has been criticizing Obama on the stump and in broadcast ads for clinging to his opposition as gasoline prices topped $4 a gallon. Polls indicate these attacks have helped McCain gain ground on Obama.
"My interest is in making sure we've got the kind of comprehensive energy policy that can bring down gas prices," Obama said in an interview with The Palm Beach Post.

6. read the fine print-- multinationals want to drill offshore then sell our oil on the global market - if they even drill at all instead of just sitting on the leases.

7. Great ad by McCain. Hussein Obama has just finished his photo op tour in which he devoted a few minutes to visit our troops in Iraq and Afgan and spent a few minutes talking to the Military Leaders in Iraq and Afgan. Hussein Obama did cancel scheduled visits to 2 hospitals to see our troops who had been wounded in Iraq and Afgan.
Hussein Obama's big point on his tour was his speech in Germany. Furst Hussein Obama would not allow signs or banners to be displayed at the Germany Speech. Did not want the camera's to show any neg. Hussein Obama signs. There was a prediction of 1 million Germans would come to see Hussein Obama's election speech, but only 200,000 or so showed up. That number is said to be inflated. This in spite of free food and a free concert.
This Hussein Obama photo op trip was to gain votes, but seems to have had the opposite effect. In the same Gallup Poll, Hussein Obama had a 9% lead over McCain before the trip, and after the trip it was a 1% lead over McCain.
It was reported that McCain has a lead over HusseinObama in Germany, but Obama had closed that gap.
Hussein's Obama's trip was nothing but a trip to improve his popularity, a trip of little or no substance. Hussein Obama was even booed out of Israel.
McCain ad was great in exposing the empty suit that Hussein Obama really is.

8. Caution: Democrats at work--- no hard hat necessary
Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and the Democrats adjourned the House, turned off the lights and killed the microphones, but Republicans are still on the floor talking gas prices.
Minority Leader John A. Boehner (R-Ohio) and other GOP leaders opposed the motion to adjourn the House, arguing that Pelosi's refusal to schedule a vote allowing offshore drilling is hurting the American economy. They have refused to leave the floor after the adjournment motion passed at 11:23 a.m., and they are busy bashing Pelosi and her fellow Democrats for leaving town for the August recess.
Throw in Obama's comments that McCain's camp is making the voters fearful of the fact Obama doesn't look like other men on the face of our currency. Yeah, once again, another card turned over in the race deck.
Back that up with LudaCris's lyrics that Hillary's a bitch & McCain's paralyzed in a wheelchair.
Look out for flying dirt because the Obama hole is getting deeper by the minute. Why does McCain need to run ads at all?

9. Wasn't Barrack Obama the guy that was supposed to be bringing us all together? Instead he's the guy that's constantly whining about discrimination. His comment about his face being different (than all those "dead white guys" on our currency) was truly pathetic.
And if Obama and his minions are tiring of the McCain ads, then stop with all the mumbo-jumbo about "We are the ones we've been waiting for" and how "the light will come down from on high" (or something like that) if you vote for Obama.
Memo to Barrack: Just tell us what your policy positions are and how you will run the country. All the rest is fluff. And if you take grief because you're trying to feed us a fluffer nutter, it's your own fault, not John McCain's.

10. You stupid republicans have run the economy into the ground, bankrupted this nation in Iraq and you want more of the same? You're crazy.

11. You are being very mean.
If you were an aging person of limited intelligence who finished near the bottom of your class & got all your perks from family connections & you were competing with a person who starting life w/ no privileges at all & became president of the Harvard Law Review, had a beautiful accomplished woman as his wife & then had the nerve to mention that he's black into the bargain you'd get testy too!
Where's your compassion!
It's very hard for mediocre white guys. They've lost their affirmative action programs.
Miriam at 1:07AM on Aug 2nd 2008
12. Obama should play the race card AND the intelligence card - either vote for me or you get another dumb white guy.

15. Cenk says:
"I think they're doing him a huge favor. They keep showing pictures of him being cheered by huge crowds, often waving American flags."
It's only a 'huge favor" if you believe that drawing gigantic crowds of flag-wavers is the primary qualification for the presidency.
The ad, actually, goes right to the point. Britney had a very profitable career based primarily on image and appearance. Her product was mediocre at best. Paris is immensely popular with a particular demographic due to her appearance and style and gets paid boatloads to show up at club openings and the like. She produces nothing of importance.
Barack Obama gives good speeches that create a trance-like effect amongst certain elements of the population. He has relatively little practical experience. His popularity is based primarily on his oratory skills and appearance. Most of the other stuff attributed to him is typical campaign rhetoric or wishful thinking on the part of those who don't want to admit that it's his oratory skills and style that appeal to them, too.
The question should be, is that enough to get him elected?
Based on the "careers" of Britney and Paris, it probably is.
Whether that's a good thing for America or not remains to be seen.
