Last night, CNN's anchors appeared to be so into the sound of their own voice that they fell minutes behind PBS and other stations. And they kept complaining about all the things the Democrats weren't doing (talking about McCain and Bush, for example), when behind them, in speeches they were talking over, Democrats were doing just that. If you have to fill 24 hours, wouldn't you show Claire McCaskill's speech, in which she went after John McCain, rather than blathering about the absence of John McCain attacks?
Apparently, CNN's coup discovering the V.P. candidate's identity a couple of hours before the text message went out from the Obama campaign (relevant to about five people who were up at two in the morning constantly refreshing CNN) makes them more important than the politicians themselves?

1. CNN Stands for ... Communist Network News
They make Stalin, Lenin, and Castro proud.
The coverage is poor most of the time.

2. the coverage was terrible but i heard c-span has the entire coverage without all the ad-lib

3. That is the issue with cable news coverage of anything - the talking heads are too in love with themselves to deal with what is going on. C-Span is covering the convention without all the chatter.
And Richard #1 - sheesh, Richard, how old are you? Communist? Stalin? Lenin?

7. Lehrer, Ifil, Woodruff, Warner, Suarez, Brown. No other newscast can approach that.

9. I was watching C-SPAN. No bias, no interruption. Better than PBS. Leagues better than Fox, MSNBC and the shitty little network of CNN.
Heck they showed 10 minutes of people just leaving the Pepsi Center before they even started taking viewer's calls.

10. My main beef with CNN is their annoying "fact" scrawl at the bottom of the screen ("William Jennings Bryan was the youngest nominee for President," real essential "news"), blocking out trivial little things like the names of people who were speaking.
Naturalpup, my problem with PBS in two words: David Brooks. Bad enough I have to read him every other day in the Times. Actually his "balancer," Shields, may be even more vapid, even if I agree with him more.
I probably oughta try C-SPAN, but my wife *likes* to hear the "analysis."

you must mean the mcbush. His position on bear stearns was distribution according to need, straight out of the communist manifesto, but making poor people with foreclosed mortages pay for it is more like the corporatism that caused Mussolini and Hitler to thrive.
Ready, fire! aim.....

dr jay - PBS only uses the those two "guest" analysts, usually just once a week, so every Friday we can get a Rep and Dem opinion without having to wade through either banalaty or excrement so popular on every other channel.
I can handle Mark and David as long as Jim is there to direct the conversation.

13. Look ALL media is CORPORATE - for example, nbc and msnbc and cnbc among other things is owned ultimately by GE, which holds nearly four trillion dollars in government contracts.
That's the 'military industrial complex' that Eisenhower condemned. To a 21st century dittohead, that makes him a commie and probably a muslim terrorist, right?
As a subsidiary of GE, you get the media information that benefits GE's position or libertarianism is a myth.

I agree, no commercials, no pledge breaks.
Nice to be able to get the two(2) C-SPAN channels.
The others with maybe the exception of PBS ( which is funded by public money) are so busy trying to improve their ratings and getting one up on the competition have turned TV news into more of an entertainment time then a news time.

so much fox pus. Obama raised money from small contributions because the small people who need change believe in him. His political opponents exist to serve corporations and most of what they have they have stolen from Obama contributors.
Your candidate is an effete elitist worth 100 million dollars and his veep pick is worth twice that. Profit is the master they serve or there is no such thing as libertarianism.
You've had eight years of it. Clear your head before november or you'll get more. Like gas prices? Thank john mccain and let him keep the gramm enron loophole open while he gives them another 10% corporate tax break and cuts services you paid taxes for.
Obama or more bush. Those are your choices.
