The political site Daily Kos outlines the conspiracy theory (presented with a timeline, photos and video) that Sarah Palin's youngest child, Trig, is actually her daughter Bristol's baby.
Palin's camp came out swinging, but their defense today came as something of a surprise: Seventeen-year-old Bristol Palin is not four-month-old Trig's mother, because Bristol is five months pregnant now.
We did NOT see that one coming. (And if the New York Post tomorrow doesn't use the headline "Juno, Alaska" we will be very disappointed.)
The New York Times has the full story, in which Sarah Palin says: "Our beautiful daughter Bristol came to us with news that as parents we knew would make her grow up faster than we had ever planned. As Bristol faces the responsibilities of adulthood, she knows that she has our unconditional love and support."
According to the Washington Post, "for social conservatives, a teenage pregnancy is something of a jump ball," so there's no telling how the news will play with the Republican base. Frankly, for us it's less compelling a scandal than troopergate.

2. What on earth was Palin thinking? She obviously knew her daughter was pregnant; she should have turned McCain's offer down. Why would she want to publicly humiliate her daughter? The Vice Presidency is a high profile and demanding job; your life is on display, did Palin not know this? I can hear the conservatives now: this is a "private matter." Sure..when the GOP has a scandal, it is always a private matter. But when the Democrats have one it is fair game to them.

3. I think it is a tragedy that John McCain chose Sarah
Palin as VP candidate. She is so inexperienced, no
world experience and a mother of five with a 17 year
old pregnant daughter. This is not the kind of image I want for my possible Pres of the US. It is a very poor example of leadership and good judgment.
Maybe for Alaska, but not for the USA. Pitiful and
sad.

8. Why in the world is chosing Governor Sarah Palin a mistake. Obama has much less experience as a public servant. I don't think that comunity service qualifies Obama as Commander in Chief, also he has been present in the senate a whooping 143 days. He has less experience than Mrs. Palin. Let the debates talk!

14. Admit it Marcy....you haven't even looked at their qualifications side by side. You didn't know who Sarah Palin was before 2 days ago, and in spite of having the chance for the last 18 mo. to get to know Obama, your party loyalty doesn't allow it. McCain could have chosen Uncle Fester as his running mate and you'd be cheering. Sarah Palin has a BS in journalism. She was on the PTA. She was mayor of a town smaller than the podunk backwoods I live in. There are less people in the whole state of Alaska than there are in any major city in the US. Barack is a lawyer, a law professor, has been a state legislator, a community organizer and a senator. Less experience my ass. "She's having the baby, something liberals cannot understand." Shallow, trite, a supposed Republican zinger. Sorry, just shows how little you have to go on. BTW, do you take points off her qualifications now, since one of the biggies on her resume is Super Mother Of Five!!! ???
