16. Thanks for the interview with Roland. I can tell by your readers, they aren't very exposed to the news. Anyone who doesn't know Roland watches Faux non stop. They are not too keen on hearing it straight from a Brotha. Let Rush or Faux trotters tell the story it's gospel. Wake up, you will no longer be the majority. Or did you know that?

Nearly every nation pledged to do more to combat terrorism with the approval Friday of a U.N. General Assembly resolution that does not include a definition of such activities or say anything about states that engage in terrorist acts.

20. Hate to give you folks a news flash but first amendment says he can call white people whatever he wants to call them. And you're immediate "OMG, he just called white folks 'lillies' so he's a racist black man yadda yadda yadda.' and firmly avoid discussing what the man's points actually were. Standard conservative play.
Try this, conservatives, try actually listening to the man. He's telling you the best way to actually win black votes without compromising your position. And when he tells you that your VP candidate has some real substantial issues to her character then you should examine them with some sober judgement.
For example, troopergate. Let me get this straight. You believe that the officers in alaska value a blue code of silence so much that the state police commissioner was willing to be removed from his position rather than terminate a manifestly unfit officer from his position? That this police commissioner had his so hands tied by the Alaskan officer's union, which has a massive voting block of two hundred statewide, that he was incapable of firing this man? I'm sorry, but that's not passing my bullshitometer. For instance, if there was such absolute evidence for his dismissal, why hasn't the commissioner's replacement fired him? I find the whole 'blue code of silence / good ol boys / union interference' theory a little lacking. But what it says about Palin's character is more than a little troubling. Do conservatives really want more people in office who will bend and manipulate the rules with impunity like the last eight years? Isn't it time that republicans actually took a stab at some integrity?
Next, consider that while Mayor of her little, little Alaskan town Palin tried to get the town librarian to remove titles that Palin found offensive. For instance, Harry Potter. Now, how you feel about the series aside, a person who goes out of their way to edit what books a person has access to is more than a little scary to me. Nazis removed any book that questioned the Aryan mythology or supported any non-party backed ideology. I'm not calling Palin a nazi (I'm sure more than a few will) but it's a mindset that I find absolutely chilling. Beware he who denies you access to information, for in his heart he dreams himself your master. I leave it up to people to decide what they will or won't read. I don't pretend like I have the right to censor what others have access too.
Now, to go back to the interview; about her stance on pregnacy. She has said she would deny abortion to any woman who was raped, and would strenously object to abortions performed in cases where the pregnacy endangers the mother. This to me, as a woman, is the most damning of all. She is so certain and so absolute in her opinion, without even a note of compromise, that I have no doubt were she president she would do all in her power though executive privilage to eliminate legal abortion. Not a problem for the rich, who can fly to Cabo and tragically 'miscarry'. Big problem for anyone not wealthy enough to leave the country for the procedure. The invasiveness of her position to women would be as manifestly chilling as if she advocated forced sterilization of men. There are powers the government should not have. What is done to my body is one of them.
In short, republicans need a time out. It's too bad you backed Bush in 00' and not McCain. Too much has been lost, too much is at stake, and your candidate made a terrible 11th hour choice. Take a decade and regroup. Get back on your feet and decide what you really stand for. Because you can do better than this. You should do better than this.

22. Tim,
At least if there is a positive in all of this, it would be the fact that race is not an issue with you in this election. I'm pleased to know there are voters like you.

24. McCain announced that "Change is coming!" But change from what? The Republicans have been running all three branches of the Federal government for 6 of the past 7 years! And the Republicans have completely trashed the United States of America. So McCain is running against his own party! And his solution to "change" from the devastation inflicted upon our nation and the world by Republicans? Elect more Republicans! Surreal, man. Truly surreal.

26. When I first saw the title, I thought it was about the old comedy show "Rowen & Martin, Laugh-In." I can see I wasn't too far off. Martin says; "One of these 'lilly' guys." You must be kidding? I wonder how many nanoseconds it would take for CNN to cue up a segment if Rush Limbaugh were to ever refer to blacks as "darkies" or "Zulus?" Oh, I forgot..Martin is wearing the 'Black Teflon,' and has double anti-stick protection by being a CNN reporter. I'd be disappointed if I had ever held CNN to higher standards.

28. Like other black ministers (Jesse Jackson, Jeremiah Wright and Al Sharpton) with chips on their shoulders, Roland a liberal loudmouth who is angry that people are voting for someone other than Obama, as if because of his skin color, it's an obligation to vote for him. What a shock. If he, Spike Lee, and other blacks keep mouthing off, it only helps McCain, because whites don't see themselves as eternal victims. Obama, who is all talk, has no record of accomplishment like McCain; the more he says McCain is like Bush, the more he looks like a liar. Obama keeps tying McCain to the economy; Obama is in the Senate too -- what's he done about the economy? Any legislation that's made a difference? He has no clout or solutions. All talk. No action.

29. Once upon a time, there was a king. The people oooed and ahhhed when he spoke. Words of honey and promise flowed from his mouth.
This King - learned from the corrupt Emil Jones, how to vote "present" over 130 times in the State Legislature so as not to be criticized for a controversial voting record. Corrupt Emil also showed him how to "billjack" 100 of legislative bills (again for the public good - and not controversial - like housing bills for the poor - that put 14 million dollars in Reskos pocket - but, seemingly, promised the poor a better life). Shortly after the Kings crowning, his wife was given nearly a $200,000 raise in salary at her Chicago Hospital job , "How wonderful" said the King and then signed a proposal for Federal Grants to the same hospital for one million dollars. Now this same king could have stood up for fairness and honesty. Instead the King found other corrupt politicians, Daley, Stoger and his son, Kilpatrick the king of Detroit, and others to his liking. Instead of denouncing the evil ones .... He proudly ENDORSED each and every one.
Soon, his housing for the poor was condemned and boarded up. Resko was indicted for fraud and his housing empire crumbled- his housing declared unlivable and substandard. 14 mil gone-where?
Now, far away their lived a Princess. She lived in a corrupt land where the Governors pork barreled and fed off the hard working people. She stood up and denounced the evil doers. She ran against the evil Govenor and won. She sold his ill gotten largess on e-bay and fired the chef. She gave back the profits of the oil companies to the people. So all lived well and happily ever after.
Meanwhile, back at the King's palace a small boy was reading about this wonderful princess from far away. The boy wondered why - when the Princess' Benefactors, John and Cindy, spent millions of dollars and YEARS of their time providing emergency medical aid to the poor and needy all over the world, the King's only charitable act was a $22,500 donation to the Rev. Wright's, very wrong church.
As the mighty King strutted and strolled, the little boy proclaimed loudly "The Emperor has No Clothes" ! Little by little, the young lad retold the story about the courageous Princess. The lad told all and sundry about her honor, integrity, and sense of justice. The evil press did everything to squelch this heresay. They made up vicious stories and denounced her to the skies! But as the story grew, so then did the truth. Soon, everyone knew - what we will all soon know - "The Emperor has No Clothes"

30. I am a moderate conservative, normally vote Republican, and I understood everything that Roland Martin said.
And I agree with his points. A black or Latino single mother has children and she is condemned for being an unwed mother!
How can conservatives applaud Palins daughter being so young, unwed and pregnant.
With Palins views, it is obvious the young lady was not taught any sex education, like condoms, birth control pills. Teens have sex, prepare them.
And it is Palin that sacrificed her daughters privacy and revealed it, in the name of politics.
She decided to run for all these offices, and she talks about her family all the time. Then she says media, stay out of my family life.
She says her family comes first. Then as a Mother with a new baby with downs syndrome and a pregnant unwed teen, why did she accept this nomination.
Being on the campaign trail for the next 67 days away from her family, this is not a 9 to 5 job.
So I don't respect her for her views because she is not living them.
And that speech she read Wednesday, was scripted a week ago for a male candidate and revised for her.
They used her to jab at Obama, because as the token female, she could get away with it.
I was going to vote for McCain, but he has lost it. Send him out to pasture.
So many good females without all that baggage, and he picks her. His lack of judgement floors me.
If he thinks he has appeased the conservatives or women with Palin, no one I know is comfortable.
Governor Palin is a sassy strong lady from Alaska, and a fresh face at the moment, but not Vice President material at this point in time.
