31. Somber at 11:42PM on Sep 5th 2008 posted:
In short, republicans need a time out.
Take a decade off and regroup.
*******
Somber, it looks like the democrats are the ones that need the republicans to take a time out. Perhaps a democrat might actually win the White House if all he or she had to do was beat Ralph Nader. And with a whole decade to play with a democrat might get reelected - which hasn't happened much over the last, oh... ever!
I've been a registered democrat for quite a while and I'll reserve the right to critique them.
They're losers.
That's right. Losers.
Look at the last 40 years. Humphrey and McGovern couldn't beat a paranoid idiot. Carter won, but basically anyone would have beaten the republicans in '76. They could have run the four guys on Mount Rushmore PLUS Jesus, Mary, and Joseph and still lost. Reagan easily defeated ol' Smiley after America had enough of his political prowess.
The Democrats then decided to roll up their sleeves and get tough. Fritz Mondale! Geraldine Ferraro! Three boobs for the White House!
More like two humps in the sand of the landslide that buried them.
Dukakis seemed pretty smart, even if he looked a little goofy riding in that tank with the helmet on. Mr. Thousand Points Of Light and his electric personality busted through that armor.
Clinton? Overall, I'd say he was a good President. Relatively young... highly intelligent... good looking...inspiring... GREAT speaker... yes, a good President. Kind of guy I'd love to smoke a fattie with, especially since he wouldn't inhale it. More for me!
Commander in Chief? Real tough on Waco Wackos, Ruby Ridgers, and small cuban boys. Impressive. Just a little lax on Somalia, the U.S.S. Cole, and the first World Trade Center incident.
The second World Trade Center incident occured eight months after he left office so I don't really know how much he impressed the rest of the world as Commander in Chief. And why can't the most powerful man in the world find an intern that swallows? Sheesh!
Gore won and still couldn't win. I won't beat that dead nag any further.
Which brings us to Kerry. If there EVER was an election outside of 1976 that the democrats could have won any easier...
Losers. L - O - S - E - R - S. Losers.
It's time for a change alright. Stop nominating losers, democrats. And stop pretending to represent everyone under the sun and that you're the "good guys." Your color may be blue, but once in office you become interested in the green, just like the reds. You're just the same as those other guys - except for the mascots.
Oh, and the fact that they know how to win.
Cheer up, Somber! Obama could NEVER, EVER lose this one. Right?!

32. Your hatred of all things Republican has warped you into a sexist moron. Look at what you wrote. It is a caricature of the barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen line.
Obama has two kids under 10 and he wants to be President. Jack Kennedy had little ones. Teddy Roosevelt had kids in the White House. Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, Al Gore . . . .
You sound like you have 3 brain cells and they are all rushing to the front to help type that trash. The only reason I am not deleting the comment is that you are a beautiful example of the gutter trash that passes for Obama supporters.

34. It's very simple. It's not about issues. Issues voters have already aligned themselves with the party of their choosing.
There are a lot of people out there (those bitter folks who cling to their guns and religion) who see themselves in Sarah Palin and her family. She represents to them the same thing that Barack Obama represents to the nation's black population. One of their own making it.
Democrats have been more than willing to accept and encourage that type of non-issue, rock-solid loyalty amongst his supporters. They've been willing to ignore the inflammatory rhetoric coming out of portions of that community. They know the power of a committed unmovable potential voting block.
So no wonder they're scared of Sarah Palin and what she represents. They weren't expecting it. You can see it in guys like Martin. You can see it in Cenk. And the more they nitpick her family life, the more they solidify her support.
Keep it up, Dems. You just might be able to do the impossible. Lose this race, despite having all the cards stacked in your favor.

Just like Michelle Obama .....Roland Martin hates white people. They are the true racists !
To attack the underage daughter of a candidate is dispicable. They have lowered journalism to an all new low. Ashame we lost Tim Russert.

37. You know, until now, I didn't think there was anyone out there who was as big an idiot as Cenk, but now I've found one. My one question though, at 2:31 in the video, the guy who appears on the screen for a second, I'd swear he was wearing a "Glock Shooting Sports" T-Shirt. What's Cenk doing with a gun-owner near him? You know liberals don't believe in gun ownership. That was the only thing I found interesting about that entire video. Actually, I stopped watching after that, because I had already figured out that Roland Martin is as big a dummy as Cenk. Actually, even if Cenk converted to conservatism tomorrow, I'd still think he was an idiot, thanks to his post a few weeks ago about Michael Phelps.
Jon at 9:58AM on Sep 6th 2008
38. Torquemada, did you know that liberals and conservatives think differently? I don't mean right and wrong. As Mr. Martin said 'the democrats don't have attack dogs. They have a few, but not very many.'
The reason is that liberals don't want to win. They want good, effective, efficient government that helps people rather than hinders, persecutes, or ignores them. If there was a republican president who had an effective and practical medicare plan, decent education policy, and obviously was willing to keep his fingers out of women's biology then I would consider him. Liberals don't want to treat the government like a football game. It's too important. So we focus on trying to get the most intelligent and effective candicates we can. Mondale, Dukakis, Clinton, and Gore were all highly intelligent people. Carter was all heart, and I give him this credit: no hostages were killed, no wars were started on his watch.
Conservatives, on the other hand, want to win. And there are no laws of war to honor or respect. Fear mongering, push polls to undermind canidates, swiftboating, mudslinging, and calling on divine powers is just a few of the tactics employed. Palin is the latest and greatest distraction employed by conservatives in this election. She's their Achilles, when the real attention needs to be given to Odysseus. The problem is that once the republicans actually win they can't govern. Why? As their mascot once said 'government is the problem.' Conservatives have a fundamental conflict of interest when they are in office. On one hand they have to keep America capable of winning any violent conflict and on the other hand they have an obligation to break the machinery of government so that when they are finally out of office, the mess is so bad that they can try to reassert themselves in the next election.
That is why, Tor, your republican canidates will always talk a good fight, but make a mess of it once they are actually in office.

Then what's the point?
If they don't win, their agenda goes nowhere and they're left on the sidelines with nothing else to do but complain about those rotten conservatives.
Great strategy.

Did you read ANYTHING that she said? It's not about winning just to look good. It's about governing the friggin country effectively. Conservatives want to 'win', because it makes them feel special and important. It's to cater to their damned egos. Even McCain mentioned that he wanted to win the election because of his ambition. He doesn't give a shit what happens afterwards, especially to anyone that isn't a McCain buddy.

42. Obviously the Dems are scared shitless or they would not be making such a kerfuffle over Palin. They are in full panic mode as they contemplate the horror of once again being denied the throne. I love it. And so do a lot of people. The more the press tries to discredit Palin the worse they look and the more determined the public is to support Palin.I think it is ridiculous that everyone is making such a big deal out of a 17 year old unwed mother. Gasp, how shocking. How does this compare to Obamas associations and 20 year membership in a church that preaches racism and hate? I think the press and the Democratic Party have just lost total control and are willing to stop at nothing to get their man in the Whitehouse. Americans don't like the press picking our presidents and it is going to backfire on them, just as it backfired on US magazinee. They are losing thousands of subscribers who are mostly women. Dumb ass magazine owner just got hit in his pocketbook. The mainstream media has lost all credibilty from the public and will pay for thier partisanship. By the way, I never heard of this biased black reporter Martin and I know I will never listen to any thing he has to say again.

43. I should be flattered that he read anything at all.
Incidently, I own a gloc, a hunting rifle, and will always own a gun. Yes, I am a liberal, but until such time as government can eliminate the need for personal protection I will continue to carry it. I believe, however, that fire arms should be like cars. Each state should be required to have a fire arm registration, a nominal fee to fund it, and a ballistics database. We do the same for cars. I don't believe that it is unreasonable to do the same for guns. Both are tools that can be deadly in the hands of the inexperianced, the intoxicated, or the disrespectful.

44. >>>Did you read ANYTHING that she said? It's not about winning just to look good. It's about governing the friggin country effectively.>>>
This just in:
President Bush released a portion of the strategic oil reserve to cushion supply due to the shutdown caused by Gustav.
Immediately Nancy Pelosi criticized the president for not releasing reserves to lower oil prices when Democrats requested earlier in the summer. Despicable political theatre anyone?
The strategic oil reserve is set aside for disruption of supply, exactly what the president used it for, not for market ploys.
Effective you say? I call it absolutely clueless!
This woman couldn't run a hotdog stand efficiently & she's only two heartbeats away from being supreme commander in chief....

45. "Did you read ANYTHING that she said?"
*****************
Yeah, actually I read everything she wrote (not said, to be nitpicky).
The statement that liberals "don't want to win" is ridiculous. That was my point. It's almost as preposterous as suggesting that liberals don't employ attack dogs on a blog that features as it's subject a liberal attack dog (Martin) on the attack.
It's the arrogance of your side that keeps you from seeing that you don't represent a large portion of the population. You don't want to acknowledge that portion (except in caricature), you discount them as uneducated bumpkins. You don't understand them because they don't play the victim or they can't wax eloquently on subjects that interest you.
You position your "man of the people" on Mt Olympus. You solidify your foundation of change with a member of the old boy's network. You antagonize the very people you claim to represent by mocking and belittling them.
And while you don't seem to be able to get into the top spot in the nation's capital, you do on a smaller scale. Like in my state. A state rife with contractual handouts to favored contributors. A state that has a metropolitan area (controlled by Democrats) that has one of the most segregated populations and worst school systems in the nation. And it's been run by Democrats for years.
I've seen you guys in action. For all your high-minded talk, you're no better than those you criticize. There's as much scandal, corruption and downright illegal activity (I can point you in the direction of an alderman now serving out the remainder of his term in a federal pen) as there is in the worst Republican administration.
The suggestion that you put ethics and values ahead of victory is preposterous. You just don't get the opportunity very often on a national scale to show your true colors.
If Obama loses it will be, once again, the miscalculation of those who run your party. The image that will come to symbolize his downfall will be that evening in Denver, standing in front of some styrofoam columns. That's the night your party, once again, made it very publicly apparent that they haven't a clue.
