The Young Turks were at the Republican National Convention all of last week and we had some interviews that were doozies, but none more entertaining than this. We interviewed Senators, Congressmen, Governors, black Republicans, gay Republicans, etc., etc. And then right at the end of the convention, this guy came up and started yelling about sodomy. He insists he is against it. You be the judge:

16. I suppose being an idiot constitutes disregarding Obama's less then stellar background. However, continuously dismissing all the negatives makes one a bigger idiot, I suspect.
eric at 3:41PM on Sep 8th 2008
17. Eric,
What factual evidence do you have of negatives? Please present them.
Rumors aren't allowed.
Thank you

18. Cokley's comments are a matter of public record. As Yogi said you can look it up. Also, Obama gave a eulogy in 2003 for the mayor undre whom Cokley served and who took a week to figure out that what Cokley said was outrageous. I am not trying to disuade you from voting for him. You have that constitutional right. If Mccain had any where near the questionable associations that Obama has had he would have been run out of town on a rail. I am a registered Democrat and disagree with McCain and Palin on numerous issues. I cannot take the chance on Obama. Too many questions that are being evaded, sorry. C'est la guerre.

19. "If Mccain had any where near the questionable associations that Obama has had he would have been run out of town on a rail. "
Eric,
Are you serious? The questionable associations aren't even close between the two. Not even close.
Yours are rumors.
McCain has a track record.
We can start with his campaign. He has 169 Lobbyists on it. And he's the reformer? He's the person of change? Give me a break.
How many lobbyists does Obama have? Zero Eric. Zero. I'll say it again. Zero.
Keating 5? His wife Cindy had investments with Keating.
McCain leaves his wife and bangs Cindy. Marries her, and her Father in Law funds his Senate Campaign. Go ahead and check him out.
That's just the obvious. They aren't even rumors dude.
What you got on Obama? He served the board with a professor that is a terrorist jerk back in the 70's. What does that have to do with Obama?
Give me a break.
It's all rumors and insinuations. Stick to the issues Eric, and if you do, you know who deserves your vote. Stop paying attention to the outright bullshit lies. The lies are all from people that can accept the fact that a person of Color with a Muslim name can be President. It's our society at it's worst.
People that don't vote for him because of issues, I have no problems with. Take Bobby for example. Him and I debate constantly, but it's on issues. I respect him for that greatly.
But associations, rumors and shit like that, is waste of your intelligence unless you actually have facts.

20. Botts, I found it interesting, but not ironic, that you totally disregarded Tony Rezco, the convicted real estate developer that provided hundreds of thousands of campaign dollars to Barack Obama (before Obama returned the cash)and Barack was able to secure over $14 million in government grants for Rezco's developments, that later went bankrupt.
I do agree, however with your following comment:
"Stop paying attention to the outright bullshit lies. The lies are all from people that can accept the fact that a person of Color with a Muslim name can be President." I find it refreshing that you can admit that so many of Obama's supporters are liars. That is true.

21. "Speaking before voters in Colorado Springs, the Republican vice presidential nominee claimed that lending giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac had "gotten too big and too expensive to the taxpayers." The companies, as McClatchy reported, "aren't taxpayer funded but operate as private companies. The takeover may result in a taxpayer bailout during reorganization.""
"Economists and analysts pounced on the misstatement, which came before the government had spent funds baling the two entities out, saying it demonstrated a lack of understanding about one of the key economic issues likely to face the next administration."
"You would like to think that someone who is going to be vice president and conceivable president would know what Fannie and Freddie do," said Dean Baker, co-director of the Center for Economic and Policy Research. "These are huge institutions and they are absolutely central to our country's mortgage debt. To not have a clue what they do doesn't speak well for her, I'd say."
"Added Andrew Jakabovics, an economic analysts for the progressive think tank, Center for American Progress: "It is somewhat nonsensical because up until yesterday there was sort of no public funding there. Even today they haven't drawn down any of the credit line they have given to Treasury. 'Gotten too big and too expensive' are two separate things. The too big has been a conservative mantra for a while and there is something to be said of that in that they hold about half of the mortgage guarantees that are out there. And in the last year they have been responsible for roughly 80 percent out there. The 'too expensive to tax payers,' I don't know where that comes from."
"Even conservative analysts acknowledged that the statement simply did not hold true."
"Heretofore, if the treasury had a balance sheet there would have been a liability but there was never a taxpayer payment before [the bailout]," said Gerald P. O'Driscoll, an economist with the Cato Institute. "[Fannie and Freddie] were not taxpayer funded. They had taxpayer guarantee, which is worth something, especially in the stock market..."
Don't worry guys, with more practice, she'll get it.

David,
Do your research.
Barack didn't secure a damn thing. He wrote a letter supporting the project which was for low income housing. And nothing ever went bankrupt. The 97-unit Cottage View Terrace, which opened in 2002 for the purpose of housing low income senior citizens is still doing well.
He's never been tied to corruption, at least as far as anyone can tell.
Now David, let's talk about the 169 Lobbyists in McCain's campaign. And later we can discuss the Keating 5 scenario if you'd like.
In the meantime, if you have something else you'd like to discuss about Obama that you don't quite understand, I'd be happy to discuss.

There's no question she has a lot to learn, Biden could possibly eat her cake if they get 'deep' into foreign affairs & national security issues which of course to date she's limited on within the national & international scene.
Palin's a bright, confident woman who I feel in time will be up & running. She's gotta cram like never before to pass her entrance exam.
I'm confident she has the ability to 'execute' once given the chance & work into a much larger system than she's used to.
She's got the mettle, wit & the power to "hammer down" when needed, knowledge is basically 'introduction' & the girl to me is a very fast learner....

25. This young man is terrific. Nothing wrong with him. He is not obsessed with sodomy. He just knows
homosexuality is wrong and is not afraid to say so.
He is smart. He won this one.
By the way, homosexuality was considered mental illness until the 1970s. many doctors still consider it mental illness.

Biden's got to somewhat walk on eggshells with the pretty lady, not too aggressive.
Like you said, Palin will be under the microscope.
Depending on the moderator & questions asked, it may end up being a roast for either side....
