While Sarah Palin was a Mayor in Alaska, she voted in favor of charging rape victims who had medical exams conducted in order to identify their attacker. While some argue Palin as VP would be a huge step for women in America, it turns out her stances on issues such as rape and abortion really take woman back to decades ago.

4. It sure does set us back. I am a victims advocate, and I have fought long and hard the rights of victims. Never should a victim be asked to pay the price of a rape kit. Nor should a victim be denied the morning after pill, etc. Until you have walked a mile in a victims shoes no one has the right to tell that person what they have to do with their body, because the perp has already taken that away from them, and we must not take that away also. Let the victim deside what they can or cannot handle. Palin needs to spend some time in a rape center, before she speaks out for all women. Vote Obama/Biden 2008

5. Just another left wing nut case rumor. The police chief, who preceded her, approved this, but it was quickly changed.
Just like the rumor that Sarah Palin decreased funding for special needs kids, when in fact, she pushed for and approveded substantially increased funding.

7. I know abortion rights advocates feel threatened by Palin's staunchly pro-life stance, opposing abortion even in cases of rape and incest. BUT, we can't overlook Palin's life. Palin CHOSE to have her Down's Syndrome baby, and her teenage daughter is choosing to carry her pregnancy to term. They weren't FORCED to make these decisions. They CHOSE them. So the Palins are, after all, PRO-CHOICE.

12. George - you are a very cold heartless person to think it is ok to make a rape victim pay for the rape kit! Should dead people have to pay for the DNA blood evidence? Yes, taxpayers will have to pay for the rape kit, just like they pay for the salaries of the cops, the jails, etc.
And David, a Police Chief cannot "precede" a Mayor...the Police Chief works for/is an employee of the mayors. Another strong showing of Republican stupidity...when will it ever end?!

14. It's good to have scrutiny of a candidate, but to draw finite conclusions when no one has seen all the evidence is childish. To demean and belittle and demonize anyone because they have an altering view says more about you than the other person.
If Obama had an nth of the scrutiny in 19 months that Palin has had in the past two weeks, he'd be babbling in a mental ward by now. But the media has their boy where they want him and it's hands off so he can slide right in.
