68. hello goddess,
>>>Should we accept that? The president should be able to read through interpretations of laymen's terms, and understand them better than your average layman. I added Obama's name next to Palin in case he too forgot what the Bush Doctrine entails. Though the major difference would be that he himself would be able to read and understand these policies without interpretation>>>
you indeed were fair about adding Obama's name, I appreciate that. My reference was simply that while it's a nice bonus having a law degree, it indeed isn't a prerequisite for the job. It has so much more to do with the ideology behind the smarts.
>>>In most cases aides/ advisor/s and think tanks do not remain unbiased when interpreting policies and add their ideas in their interpretations.>>>
The President of the United States is surrounded by some of the finest Constitutional lawyers money can buy. It's their sworn duty to give an "unbiased" account of what the Constitution reads & their opinion on how far the president can take the issue without being drummed out of office or accused of abuse of power. As we all know, this is the ongoing rift by the left against Bush. They claim he's basically rewritten the Constitution for his own self serving purpose. I personally disagree.
>>>His degrees may not be a requirement for the presidency but it should be a standard. Obama's degree in political science and studies on econometics and his law degree make him a better candidate than his oppositions degrees and level of education combined.>>>
Again goddess, I personally count on the "wisdom" & "philosophy" behind the person. If the standard was the highest IQ or a certain degree we could probably look on "Jeopardy" for people more qualified than all four of the candidates. As long as we're speaking of standards, one of those primary standards is McCain's service to this country & the depth of understanding how the military works. That to me is very important.
>>>I see much people confusing intelligence with elitism and eloquence. There not the same. The substance is his education that makes him qualified.>>>
If you & others can separate the two & you like Obama's message better, there's no choice but to accept & respect that. I personally am not one to get caught up in style over substance. I don't think he has a core or really never has. IMO, he's a surrogate to a cause I detest. It's too bad he wasn't more moderate to begin with & had a record to prove it.
Take care goddess

69. Obama scares me to death. How can you question her experience and at least palin is willing to take on tough questions. The liberal media has never asked Obama one tough question. He is at the top of the ticket. People open your eyes and stop letting this conman fool you. He is part of the most corrupt political machine in US history. Williams Ayres, Tony Rezco and lets dont forget the white hating Jeremiah Wright whose church he sat in for 20 years. Obama is lying about not hearing his smears and what is even more disgusting part of Obamas family is white.

70. Dear "ALL"
Heed these points:
Problem A: Whether Palin stumbled or not; she (still) didn't and doesn't know it.
Problem B: What the hell is Bush doctrine??? Why does he (even) have a "doctrine" when he's SUPPOSED to be representing the people of the United States of America!?
Problem C: The fact that most idiots on here doesn't see that to be a problem is a problem, and goes to show why only 1-2% of americans are millionaires. Upper-middle-class (and educated) aside, the US pop in general, are mindless idiots.
Problem D: Matt Damon is right.
Problem E: Obama's timeline or experience cannot be compared to Palin's, because whether he's considered "inexperienced" or not, he still knows his stuff and so does Biden. And, so does Clinton... (the candidate I actually voted for).
Problem F: If Obama's name was James Smith, no one would still be hanging on to the fact that he's a Muslim. No one.
Problem G: If he were a Muslim and denounced it 1000xs, I would think that those "Islamic Extremists" would feel pretty betrayed and would've come to get him by now... for "Allah."
Problem H: Even if Obama is a Muslim, though he isn't, what would it matter, considering we're "equal" and all that other crap, here in the good ole US of A.
Problem I: If I were a Muslim, I would feel hated at best and would fear for my life everyday with the president (and his rePUBElican cohorts) calling me a terrorist every 5 minutes.
Problem J: With all this "Islamic Extremists" BS being forced down our throats, isn't that endorsing HATE towards other religion(s)? Which is against the law and the very First Amendment, by the way.
Voting for Palin just because she's female (all you feminists on here) would be just as DUMB as me voting for Obama because I'm African-American. I voted for the better candidate of the two (Clinton), as I TRUST you will vote for the better candidate amid these two (Obama).

71. This is a small sample of how the gov't works to some of you "terrified" that the president/VP go it alone. This is a transcript from a justice dept. briefing in reference to Bush making his decision on the legality of FISA.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE OPA
WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 17, 2007 (202) 514-2007
WWW.USDOJ.GOV TDD (202) 514-1888
TRANSCRIPT OF BACKGROUND BRIEFING BY SENIOR JUSTICE DEPARTMENT OFFICIALS
ON FISA AUTHORITY OF ELECTRONIC SURVEILLANCE
WASHINGTON, D.C.
2:33 P.M. EST
SENIOR DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE OFFICIAL: Hi. This is (Senior Department of Justice Official). We're speaking on background as senior Justice Department officials. I think everyone has the Attorney General letter he sent up to the Chair and Ranking Member of the Judiciary with copies to the Chair and Ranking Member of Intel.
And the Attorney General in the letter is informing these members of Congress that we've now obtained orders from -- approved by a judge of the FISA Court that will enable the government to target for collection international communications into or out of the United States, where there's probable cause to believe that a party to the communication is a member agent of al Qaeda or affiliated groups.
And as a result of receiving these orders approved by a FISA judge, electronic surveillance that was occurring as part of the terrorist surveillance program that the President has previously described, will now be conducted subject to the approval of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court, the FISA Court.
And the President has determined based on advice from the Director of the National Security Agency and the Director of National Intelligence that with these orders, we are able effectively to undertake the surveillance that's necessary to protect the country from the terrorist threat.
These orders can provide the speed and agility that is needed and that was available under the terrorist surveillance program. And in these circumstances, as a result of the approval of these orders, the President has determined that he will not be reauthorizing the terrorist surveillance program when the current authorization expires.
So that is the news that the Attorney General has conveyed now to the Judiciary Committees and Intel Committees.

73. Cenk Obama blew it.
We cannot forget the Russian invasion of Georgia initial reactions of McCain and Obama the two people who are running for the most important office in the world. PS-VP is not the most important post in the world.
McCain wins Russian/Georgian conflict 3:00 a.m. moment You remember Hillary's infamous 3:00 a.m. ad.
Russia's invasion of Georgia presented Senators McCain and Obama with a true 3:00 a.m. moment. Their responses to the crisis suggest dramatic differences in how each candidate would lead America during an international crisis.
McCain got it right from the start. In his initial statement, McCain sided clearly with America's ally, Georgia, took Russia to task for violating Georgia's sovereign territory, noted danger to Euro-Atlantic stability and security, called for diplomatic pressure on Russia, and a review of what NATO can do to stabilize the situation:
"Today, news reports indicate that Russian military forces crossed an internationally-recognized border into the sovereign territory of Georgia. Russia should immediately and unconditionally cease its military operations and withdraw all forces from sovereign Georgian territory. What is most critical now is to avoid further confrontation between Russian and Georgian military forces. The consequences for Euro-Atlantic stability and security are grave. The government of Georgia has called for a cease-fire and for a resumption of direct talks on South Ossetia with international mediators.
The U.S. should immediately convene an emergency session of the United Nations Security Council to call on Russia to reverse course. The U.S. should immediately work with the EU and the OSCE to put diplomatic pressure on Russia to reverse this perilous course it has chosen. We should immediately call a meeting of the North Atlantic Council to assess Georgia's security and review measures NATO can take to contribute to stabilizing this very dangerous situation. Finally, the international community needs to establish a truly independent and neutral peacekeeping force in South Ossetia".
Obama blew it. According to Reuters, the Democrats' presumptuous nominee issued a statement that shows the worlds greatest celebrity is just an empty suit:
"I strongly condemn the outbreak of violence in Georgia, and urge an immediate end to armed conflict," Obama said in a statement. "Now is the time for Georgia and Russia to show restraint, and to avoid an escalation to full-scale war. Georgia's territorial integrity must be respected."
Obama called for direct talks among all sides and said the United States, U.N. Security Council and other parties should try to help bring about a peaceful resolution.
Little Green Footballs points out the stunning naivity of Obama's call for the U.N. Security Council to condemn Russia's invasion of Georgia. Obama apparently forgot that Russia is one of the five permanent members of the Security Council, and thereby has veto power.
It's also a little bit disturbing that Obama's first reaction to aggression is to call for the ineffectual U.N. to pass a resolution. A "resolution" never stopped any invading army. It's reminiscent of missile defense opponents who put their faith in a treaty, which isn't worth the paper it's printed on if either side won't honor it, rather than a real system of defense. Oh wait, Obama IS a missile defense opponent!
It took a day of watching Russia pound Georgia before the Obama got around to condemning Russia and nuancing his position to sound more like McCain's.
These things just seem to slip by Cenk
