76. Sarah Palin was asked a "laoded" question. There were/are FOUR Bush doctrines...each one addressing a different situation. Mr. Krauthammer (sp) of Fox news explained each succinctly. Since Charlie Gibson failed to delineate which of the four he wanted her opinion on, it made it where whichever one she addressed, it would be the "wrong" one. She addressed the current one, while Gibson supposedly referred to the first...actually, Mr. K said that it was Mr.Gibson's gaffe. Sarah Palin is privy to much classified information, probably more than any other governor, because of her state's proximity to an unpredictable foreign nation...that would be Russia and Mr. Putin's cohorts. She is educated, experienced and level headed. She does not shoot from the hip or change her opinion depending on whom she is addressing. God help us if Obama wins..and by the way, did anyone else here his response which included his "Muslim beliefs" about which the interviewer had to remind him to say Christian beliefs. This was this past week. We do not hear anything about that now do we?

Point by point:
Answering the Bush Doctrine question is multiple choice, and Sarah rightly asked for clarification.
Alaska is a corporation with an $11 billion annual budget and 15,000 employees, and many natural resources; not a "huntin and fishin" state. Most CEO's don't run anything nearly that large.
You think she's brash? I suppose a woman who could run the Alaska good old boys out might seem that way to some. AK has a population density of 1.1 people per square mile, so self reliance might look like "brash" to some.
You say she's undereducated? How so? She seems to be doing very well running her state, has an 80% approval rating in AK, so she may not have a wall full of degrees but she must have learned the right stuff. Most of us add on the knowledge that pays the freight during our careers.
And finally it is not Nouri Maliki but Nouri Al-Maliki.

79. Biden has more experience at making stupid decisions without being held responsible. And if Obama is so committed to "Change" why pick this old Democratic insider hack as his running mate. Biden's showing in the Democratic primary is so telling about his conection with the American people. Bye the way, didn't he say, in essence, that Barack Housain Obama was not ready to be president. Remember he only has a total of 143 days of experience.

80. You must remember that Bush went to Yale, look where we are now. I don't care where Obama went he only has 143 days of experience.

81. BILL : Please let Charlie know that there is no
such thing as the BUSH DOCTRINE. It does not exsist
according to CARL ROVE. He should know. He explained
that these were things made up by the news media
and they are not on file anywhere. So SARAH was right in her answer. You cannot answer something
which does not exsist. Quoted By : CARL ROVE

82. If you've read the Washington Post you'll know that there have been four "Bush Doctrines." Gibson was referring to the outdated third one - preemtive strikes to protect the USA.
It's amazing that you consider yourself a journalist ( or anybody reads you).

Chucky Krauthammer is an expert

84. In answer to your blasting of Sara Palin's answer to the so called Bush Doctrine--I suggest you go back to your history books and read this direct quote: "The U.N. must be invested with power to enforce its edicts, to take such immediate force as necessary against future aggressors BEFORE rather than after they had made war." Are these President Buch's words? NO--they are a direct quote of Franklyn D. Roosevelt a few days before his untimely death. He described these aggressors as "threatening to set up a reign of terror, overthrow every form of human freedom, destroy Church and State, and to revert to medieval despotism. To accomplish this, their leaders had raised and trained a generation of human slaughter." Do you realize that the UNITED NATIONS went to war with Iraq, NOT President Bush? I guess all your readers can correctly refer to it as Roosevelt's Doctrine and Roosevelt's illegal war!!!!!

85. Here's the difference between being educated and being ignorant.
Ignorant: What is your opinion on the Bush doctrine? "In what respect?"
Informed: What is your opinion on the Bush doctrine? "Are you refering to the initial Bush foreign policy doctrine back in 2001 or to the current doctrine of 2008?"
I work with students all the time who play the same game when I'm giving a quiz. "Ms. Ambrose, is this kinda right?" It's a quiz and it's yours to succeed or fail. Palin doesn't even have the political vocabulary employed in washington. When McCain dies (and there's better than a 1/3 chance of it) she will be utterly dependant for many years on 'neoconservative advisors' that McCain is surrounding himself with.

If you were giving a quiz & asked an ambiguous question not listing the specificity of the timeline of the answer you were looking for (as in current or past or in between), your students could answer in any way they desired as long as their answer pertained in reason & technically they'd be right.
That wouldn't denote "ignorance" on their part if you didn't clarify the question.
It might denote "arrogance" on your part if you weren't intelligent & gracious enough to get off your high horse & realize you might just be wrong on the issue.
Governor Palin wasn't asking Mr. Gibson if the answer was "kinda right". She was asking for a clarification of his question....

87. The national columnist, George Will, points out that, to be fair, there is no recognized "Bush Doctrine," that ever came out of the White House or Washington, DC. So the question is silly to give a pet name like "Bush Doctrine" and then to accuse someone of being ignorant of what it means.
Does the "Bush Doctrine" refer to economics, or the war in Iraq, or the War on Terror, or what? You should not just say "Bush Doctrine" and expect most politically knowledgeable people to know what aspect of George Bush's viewpoints you are referring to.
What if I asked you about the Obama doctrine? Do you know what I am referring to? Does that mean you are ignorant? Am I referring to Barack Abortion? Or anti-America Obama? Or the phony Gospel according to B.O.?
Bashing Sarah Palin, the Veep, instead of going after the front runner, McCain, has traditionally been a recipe for losing the election.
Just say no to B.O.

88. Palin is HIDING from the voting public and the press, because she is arrogant enough to think she should land the job of running our country WITHOUT having to be interviewed!! Palin has neither the experience nor the skills to be VP or a heartbeat away from the presidency. McCain and Palin are exactly the same as Bush. The only REAL change is Obama.

Obama Vs. McCain on Taxes
By David Knowles
Sep 16th 2008 6:44PM
A great post over at The New York Times Freakonomics Blog details the ramifications of each candidate's tax plans. Here's how the numbers break down in terms of household income:
If you earn over $2.87 million a year:
McCain wants to cut your taxes by 4.4%
Obama wants to raise your taxes by 11.5%
If you earn between $603,403 and $2.87 million:
McCain wants to cut your taxes by 3.4%
Obama wants to raise your taxes by 8.4%
If you earn between $226,982 and $603,402:
McCain wants to cut your taxes by 3.1%
Obama wants to keep your taxes exactly the same.
If you earn between $111,646 and $160,972:
McCain wants to cut your taxes by 3%
Obama wants to cut your taxes by 1.9%
If you earn between $66,335 and $111,645:
McCain wants to cut your taxes by 1.4%
Obama wants to cut your taxes by 1.8%
If you earn between $37,596 and $66,354:
McCain wants to cut your taxes by 0.7%
Obama wants to cut your taxes by 2.4%
If you earn between $18,982 and $37,595:
McCain wants to cut your taxes by 0.5%
Obama wants to cut your taxes by 3.6%
If you earn less than $18,981 (God bless you):
McCain wants to cut your taxes by 0.2%
Obama wants to cut your taxes by 5.5%
So, we can see here that McCain's plan heavily favors the rich, and gives less back, in terms of percentage of income, to the poor. Obama's plan hits the very rich, freezes taxes for families making as much as $603,402, and generally gives back a greater percentage based on descending income.
While it is true that McCain's plan gives tax breaks to every income bracket, Obama's is actually weighted so that it targets more Americans with bigger tax breaks. Why? Because 60% of American households earn less than $66,354, and that's where Obama concentrates his highest percentage of tax relief.
McCain's biggest break, a 4.4% drop in terms of percentage of income, is given to the top 1% of Americans.
Perhaps this is why Alan Greenspan said yesterday that McCain's tax plan is a disaster

90. Wonderful comments and worthless since Obama still maintains that there is 57 states. Wrong place Obama. So the question of Bush Doctine a few of you need to be reminded that it was the Dem that also approved most of the so called Bush Doctine and defended it. So please get the record right and stop listening to the blow hard writting this drivel.
