The women of The View did a better job of pressing John McCain on the abortion issue than any other press I have ever seen. For women who still don't get it, he wants to take your right to choose away from you:

1. Cenk, this is the umpteenth time you've cited something from "The View".
It's time to come out of the closet.

3. Is there a more complicated, polarizing issue than abortion in the realm of modern American politics? It's always in or near the forefront of our elections. Should it be as prominent as it is?
We've had Roe vs. Wade for 35 years. For around 23 of those years we've had republicans in the White House. Appointments have been made to the Court by republican presidents that are (at least on a public party platform) opposed to abortion. There have been Justices that say they are opposed to abortion. Roe vs. Wade still stands.
I believe it will continue to stand, regardless if McCain is elected or not. Even if Palin became president, it would stand. Supreme Court Justices aren't stooges. They think for themselves. They also condider other sides of an issue. That's what judges do. Supreme Court Justices have to pass through Congress before joining the Court. They are heavily scrutinized once they do. They do not have to satisfy an electorate.
I think abortion is in essence a private, medical matter between a woman and her physician. Having said that, I would hope that abortion becomes the last resort for that woman and her physician. A legal and safe last resort, but a last resort nonetheless. After all, there is only one way to create human life (so far.) Life has a right to life, so to speak, doesn't it? Those of us that can discuss this issue were all given that chance. Shouldn't we do the same for others? I'm not going to bring religion or the concept of a Soul (if there is one) into it. Just my humble opinion, and I'm not a woman or a physician.
I found something interesting after merely searching "Roe vs. Wade" on Wikipedia:
In 1970 at the Pennsylvania State House, attorneys Linda Coffee and Sarah Weddington filed suit in a U.S. District Court in Texas on behalf of Norma L. McCorvey ("Jane Roe"). McCorvey claimed her pregnancy was the result of rape. The defendant in the case was Dallas County District Attorney Henry Wade, representing the State of Texas.
Norma McCorvey became a member of the pro-life movement in 1995; she now supports making abortion illegal. In 1998, she testified to Congress:
“ It was my pseudonym, Jane Roe, which had been used to create the "right" to abortion out of legal thin air. But Sarah Weddington and Linda Coffee never told me that what I was signing would allow women to come up to me 15, 20 years later and say, "Thank you for allowing me to have my five or six abortions. Without you, it wouldn't have been possible." Sarah never mentioned women using abortions as a form of birth control. We talked about truly desperate and needy women, not women already wearing maternity clothes.”
As a party to the original litigation, she sought to reopen the case in U.S. District Court in Texas to have Roe v. Wade overturned. However, the Fifth Circuit decided that her case was moot, in McCorvey v. Hill. In a concurring opinion, Judge Edith Jones agreed that McCorvey was raising legitimate questions about emotional and other harm suffered by women who have had abortions, about increased resources available for the care of unwanted children, and about new scientific understanding of fetal development, but Jones said she was compelled to agree that the case was moot. On February 22, 2005, the Supreme Court refused to grant a writ of certiorari, and McCorvey's appeal ended.

4. If the people of this country observed what they so desperately seek, if they were aware of the emotional and physical ramifications of an aboration, would they still want it? There are many in our society that seek their own comfort or convenience no matter what the cost to the innocent. Whatever name you give it, abortion is the murder of an innocent human being. They will all have to anwser for it someday. I have lost two grandchildren that way and my heart is broken. My daughter's "choice" has affected her life, her decisions, her self-esteem and it always will. When a mother kills her own child, she is never fully whole again.

5. Women had "their right to choose" when they had SEX. Women do not have the right to kill a child because they do not want the baby.

7. Chica... did the woman who was raped or the child who was molested and concieved have a choice in the matter?

I am a nurse and work in a recovery room. A woman had a miscarriage at 8 weeks, and asked to see the baby. There is no "baby" at that point. I showed her the contents of a specimen cup and told her that this was her "baby".
She then looked straight at me and said, "then I have been lied to all of my life. I thought that looked like a baby from the minute I got pregnant".
Your definition of baby is different than mine. Also, I am with somber, does a woman who is raped have a choice? Does a 12 year old child who was raped by her father have a choice? (true story)
Keep your opinions and attitudes off my body, moron.

9. Elizabeth,
Do not speak for every woman who has had an abortion. I have spoken to several women who have had the procedure through my work and none have regretted their decision, none.

Those of you who are voting for McCain/Palin - wake up and realize that they are LIARS. Realize that if McCain dies in office, Palin doesn't have the brains, or the experience to run this country. Please listen to the truth before you make that mistake and give your vote to them.
This website has collected most of the data out there on Palin.
Wake up!
